What Insiders Are Saying
Marea is about as good as upscale eating gets in Midtown, and there’s a lot of that around. Don’t miss the bone marrow and octopus fusilli.
Fantastic, ambience, service and food was very very fine!
Amazing. Perfect for a birthday dinner. Get that octopus bone marrow pasta. Do it.
Extra cuisine With attentive service
Pastas are great but for a 2 stars restaurant the service is really poor.
We had to ask 4 times for chili pepper, they eventually brought it after we finished our meal
over priced. The ambiance is pretentious! If you like authenticity, respect and warmth this isn't the place for you unless you are willing to play the part ...
Great food as always but service was lacking (not acceptable for 2 star michelin) - never came with bread for example. Was seated after the reservation time...people in front barely seamed to care and did not apologize.
Outstanding restaurant, with superb seafood with an Italian accent. Gracious service.
It is a great place to celebrate. The food was fantastic, and the staff extremely helpful.
Some of the food items are justifiably expensive but not all of them. I felt like some of the dishes were overpriced by proxy.
I have been there several times and every once in a while the background music is too loud and poor quality.
$500 with tip for 3 people
Had an Important Business Meeting and we had been disturbed frequently by the waiter prior to our ordering as well after we consumed our food. Would not recommend to have business luncheon at the Marea.
Consistently a great restaurant. Food and service are always outstanding. One of those restaurants that gets better with every visit. Favorite place for a nice meal that is not outrageously expensive.
Amazing experience from start to finish.
Not what it used to be. No more locals and it’s a tourist crowd now.
My husband and I had a lovely dinner here last Friday evening after the ballet. It’s a quick walk from Lincoln Center & is definitely still lively when you go late! The octopus is a “must have” & we loved the lamb also. We will definitely return soon!
Good food though nothing special. Overpriced wine list. At $320 for 2 it’s not worth it.
Outstanding! Food was excellent! Service was excellent and friendly, without the arrogance and pretense commonly found in restaurants of this price level. We had a wonderful evening and will definitely go back. A winner!
The food was outstanding. Had the signature dish of lamb. Beautiful restaurant.
It remains one of the finest restaurants in New York...for its consistency, excellence in food and service and elegant setting.
Fantastic service, great wine list and food superb.
Although pricey it is an amazing restaurant
The fusilli here is the best! Marea is one of the best restaurants in NYC.
Definitely, the best food and service!!
Every time we go to Marea it’s been amazing. Definitely on our list for special celebrations!
I was a bit concerned that because I had a baby, the staff would not be as accommodating. However, it was the complete opposite. They gave me a table that was perfectly spaced for me to hold the baby and also have access to the carriage. They also made me feel completely comfortable when I had to change diapers, personally walking me to a changing table. Super accommodating. Been there several times and I’m always super happy with the service.
The food and the service are exquisite. It's quite expensive, but perfect for a special occasion.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Marea, tried several dishes, all excellent. Standouts squid ink ravioli with lobster, fusilli with octopus and New Zealand prawns. VG service, helpful wine suggestions, good pacing and comfortable spacing between tables. Just one disappointment - a member of our party had a special birthday and I so indicated when booking w Open Tables. No acknowledgement by the restaurant - maybe that’s their policy? I actually had forgotten all about it until this morning - we breakfasted up the street at Sara Beth’s and for some reason Open Tables notified them of the birthday too altho I didn’t mention it in the booking. Anyway SaraBeth came thru w a special little dessert which reminded me that Marea overlooked doing so. Go figure!!!
This place's Ambience is gorgeous and classy.
We shared 3 appetizers, 2 pastas,1 risotto,3 main courses and 3 desserts for 3 people.
Lobster&Burrata app was amazing.
Grilled octopus and duck&soup app was just okey.
Duck&soup app's soup was luke warm.I think soup could be hotter.
Fusilli??(pasta) was really salty and Spagetti was so greasy+heavy. All of us ate just one bite and couldn't finish it.
Seared sea scallop and grilled dover sole was litteraly just seared and grilled fish.Taste was really brand.I didn't appreciate the sauce which came with these dishes because It was too sour.
Langoustine was dry and again no flavor.
Service staff was very nice and friendly but our food came out pretty slow. Even though we were drinking 2 bottles of wine,I felt wait was a bit too long.
I don't think I would go back this restaurant to spend over 4 digits amount to eat either salty or brand food.
Always wonderful that’s why we go there often.
Great spot to take your mom to birthday lunch!
Perfection. Absolutely perfection! Attention to every detail. Gracious service staff.
Best sea bass of this year for me. Excellent service, lovely ambiance and overall a feast for the taste buds
Very slow serving
Been here quite a number of times since the place opened.
Could not come as often for a few years but decided to celebrate my husband’s birthday here when he confessed he’d never been here before. They have not failed me.
Food as great as ever and service is absolutely outstanding.
Fabulous meal, service, wine list and overall dining experience.
Marea delivers again. Came here for my birthday with my family. The food was delicious and ambiance beautiful. Will definitely return. I can still smell the bombolini!
Amazing food a little pricey but definitely worth it.
Food was just as good as the first time around, but service was almost too relaxed, almost inattentive.
Food is always fantastic, best octopus in NYC. Appreciated being seated in the back, away from other conversations. Thanks. Only drawback, waitress seemed inconvenienced when asked questions. Price fix well worth the $144 per.
Service was impeccable as you might expect. Dinner was delicious. I went with the four course prix fixe so I could enjoy more food. Soft shell crab had a light crisp texture but soft and juicy on the inside. Half order of signature pasta dish - fusilli with red wine braised octopus and bone marrow was rich but not heavy. Sea bass was perfect texture- delicious seer on one side. My wife also really enjoyed her lobster with burrata and tomatoes to start and said her seared sea scallops with mussels was perfect. Had to try the ricotta donuts- served warm and delicious with cream and strawberry sauces to dip. I had forgotten I indicated on the reservation that it was our anniversary. To our surprise came a wonderful dessert plate with chocolate, meringue and sorbet with a special anniversary note on a piece of chocolate. Will definitely go back to further explore the menu.
Elegant restaurant with excellent service. Pasta with octopus and bone marrow was delicious. Also loved
