   This was the last night of our trip and we wanted to return to Mambo as it had been our best dining during the week. It didn’t disappoint and once again it was terrific.

   Don’t know. I was unaware that it was an adults only resort so when we presented with our 9 year old daughter I was turned away. Would have appreciated a warning and would have made other arrangements. Was to have been the dinner our last nite and the. Had to scramble. Very disappointed

   I was given a menu with some gross gooey stuff on the opening page. Asked for another menu only to find bits of food on the dessert page. I didn't ask for another. It wasn't busy at all. There were only two other tables of guests that night. Yet, service was sketchy. Took a long time between asking for something and actually getting it. Food was good, and we all agreed to have dessert. Waited a long time to ask our waiter for the dessert menu and again waited a long time before actually receiving the dessert menu. Then we waited such a long time for our waiter to take our dessert order, that we all decided to skip dessert and get the hell out of there. Our bill was presented with a mandatory 15% tip. I hate when restaurants do that. We usually tip between 25-30%. But if all you want is a 15% tip, we made that happen and not a penny more.

   As usual, great service, food, and of course ambiance and view. Mambo is now firmly our xmas tradition for the best pace to meet up for Xmas day brunch. Bistro day many has great variety and good value for money, good place for all year round frankly.

   Fabulous restaurant at the north end of Ambergris Caye. Great ambiance and great food. Totally worth going.

    Much improved over last year! Nice to see some more interesting foods back like summer rolls and a healthy variety . The desserts are not that great accept for the ice creams We would come and have dinner again lovely surroundings and gorgeous dock and beaches are well jept

    Our appetizers were great (asian roll and salad). They brought out some gluten-free toast which was excellent. The snapper was wrapped in banana leaves and covered in peppers. The sauce was really watery & the snapper really didn’t need all that. The grilled tuna was overcooked and dry. I had asked three times for my water and hot tea to be refilled. They may just be very shortstaffed and it’s not the servers fault but when you’re paying that much money the entrée should’ve been better and the service should’ve been better

    Not the experience I would ever have expected from a Small Luxury Hotels restaurant. We made the reservation on OpenTable but they wanted us to confirm we had a reservation by showing it to them on our phone. We then had to wait in the lobby until they were ready to seat us, although we had a reservation and there was an open table. The food was good, however, the service was terrible. A few examples were that we had to ask repeatedly for the wine we ordered and had to refill the glasses ourselves. We had to request refills of water multiple times. Appetizers took a while to come out but the main course took forever! The server apologized so knew the meal wasn’t going well. When the bill arrived there was an extra bottle of wine added. We asked them to remove the extra bottle and the 15% service charge that was automatically added. When we were given the updated bill the service charge hadn’t been removed. We again asked for this to be removed. The female server/person in charge came over and asked if something was wrong? We shared with her the highly disappointing experience and the service charge was removed. After staying with Small Luxury Hotels across the world, this was a one-of-a-kind disappointing experience.

    We were soooooo looking forward to visiting Mambo/Matachica again and did so in May 2021. Last visit was August 2017. Food and service in 2021 was just not up to par with our 2017 experience when we stayed at Matachica for 4 days. Also, IMO having two different dining experiences (fine and casual) next to each other seems stupid to me.

    My wife and I came to mambo for dinner on our last night of our anniversary vacation. Started out amazing, cool spot outside under an open room. Besides the nice location etc. I recommend you Don’t go. It’s Not worth the money or the crazy fees they charge along with the assumption everything is belize dollars. It’s a Scam. The food was mediocre, but the real kicker was the way they charge you for the food etc. for one they hand you a menu with entree prices around $40-50 which everyone would figure be belize dollars. When the bill came the waitress said all the prices are in usd !? What ? and the Bill was over $200 usd. But that’s not all ! They added a 15% “service fee” plus tax plus they ask for a tip ?! So I figured the 15% was part of the tip and added another 10% making the “tip” a generous 25% even though food was just ok. The waitress came running outside after us explaining the tip needed to be in belize dollars now and not usd. Total scam ! I ended up paying like $240usd for 2 people with mediocre resort food. Total weird/bad experience and it was the only bad experience on the island. Would never go back there with those shady tactics and of course the food wasn’t that great. Much better restaurants/food south of mamba. They need to revaluate how they charge the customer or at the very least explain the crazy fee you add to the bill and that the prices are in usd not belize, but In that case you probably wouldn’t be very busy. Stay away.

    Lovely setting with delicious food and a fantastic staff! It was my second time dining at Mambo and it was as memorable as the first. Will definitely recommend to friends and will return. Thank you for a fabulous dining experience!

    Always excellent! Super fresh seafood...always! Deep Blue is a must. Key lime pie is the perfect finish.
