   Limited inside tables so we were placed outside on the covered porch. It was quite cold in Charlotte but they couldn’t accomplish us inside. Duck appetizer was good. Queso was oily. Took almost 20 minutes to get a drink. Bottle of wine came out opened but the cork stuck back in and just a glass. Guess you pour your own wine there.., food was ok. Not sure I’d go back.

   I have loved Mal Pan since it opened last year. Cocktails are always so pretty & delicious, I’ve never order anything on the menu I didn’t eat every bit of. I took my mom for Mother’s Day brunch & that was my first time having their brunch. Brunch didn’t disappoint either! The waitstaff is always so accommodating and kind too.

   On the one hand, our table was ready at the agreed-upon time on Mother's Day, on the other, the kitchen was behind. I had specifically asked our waitress if the kitchen would keep up: she flippantly assured us yes. Another staffer informed us that one of the cooks called in sick earlier. Food quality was above average, but $7.00 + per taco? Not sure about that.

   We had a reservation at 5pm and asked to sit outside. The host told us we would only have an hour and 15 mins if we sat outside due to another reservation. There was no one else in the restaurant yet. We sat down and were asked to switch tables for some odd reason. Very strange start to our meal. Overall, the food was pretty good. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu. This restaurant was recommended by a friend, so we wanted to try it out for my birthday. The server said they usually sing happy birthday and give out a dessert, but they were out if desserts. A little disappointed, but it happens.

    Mal Pan is authentic and modern. The menu is honed and multi-faceted. The service is excellent, the prices are fair and the cocktails are not full of sugary filler. They are crafted and tasty! The venue is cozy but spacious and I look forward to returning soon!

    This is a very quaint restaurant. I made reservations in advance and was quickly seated upon arrival. We ordered 3 types ( my husband ordered 3 steak, I did 1 Royal and 1Gobernador ) of tacos. He also ordred the California Surf and Turf. Every dish was fresh and delicious. The Royal taco was my favorite. With the addition of chips, salsa and guacamole, my husband was only able to eat 1/2 of his burrito. I tried the special margaritas which was apple cinnamon but did not really enjoy the combination of flavors. I will visit again.

    We chose this because the pictures made it look like something special and the reviews seemed decent. We were underwhelmed with all dishes, from our appetizers of queso and duck taquitos, to the main burrito and tacos. They all seemed to miss the mark on spices and the carnitas were on the salty side. Being from Texas we have high expectations, and this fell flat.

    The OG margarita was so good! The food was delicious and came out quickly. However, our server asked us about ever 5 minutes if we were done. We felt really rushed to get finish and get up from the table..

    A weekend visit to Charlotte with family from Columbia,SC. I wanted to check out place. The pictures at Yelp looked good. Well, let me tell you pictures doesn’t do the place justice . Mal Pan is busy restaurant but still the staff are friendly and helpful. One thing you got to consider when you order the portions are bigger than the photo or what I am used to. Do not get me wrong it very delicious. I highly recommend. And let’s not forget the bartender lady at bar who made the perfect margaritas for me😊

    So nice to find quality Mexican food in town. Coming from a Mexicana, I highly recommend this place. Amazing handmade tortillas, salsas we’re very tasty, torta was delicious. Overall great food with quality ingredients.

    James was an incredible server. So knowledgeable, very communicative and honest. Despite how busy it was, he checked on us so regularly, we felt like we were his only table. We were truly blown away by how delicious every cocktail and food item was. I can’t decide what was the winner but those shrimp enchiladas and duck taquitos were the absolute best we have ever had. The kitchen is doing a fabulous job! It was an awesome 15th anniversary dinner and we can’t wait to come back soon.

    The drinks and the fundido was excellent. The entrees were ok. The Gurbinador taco was way too big and messy to be a taco - it was more like curry on a tortilla. Everything tasted fine, not outstanding by any means. Would go back for the ambience, drinks and the appetizer.

    Mal Pan was great as always. Service was excellent without being intrusive, pricing was reasonable, and the food and drink plentiful. All seven of us joined the clean plate club, with the Cali burrito, sweet potato tacos, and camaron tacos being the standout items of the night.

    I’m from Miami so I’m very familiar with quality Latin/Mexican food. The service was great, the cocktails could have been better, the queso was not what we were looking for. The tacos were ok but nothing out of the ordinary.

    Food was just plain bad. No flavor, chicken in everything was unseasoned, cubed, with lots of cartilage that had to be spit out. There are many other much better options in the city. Do not recommend this place.

    The food was good but def a little trendy/unique instead of just a good taco you would get somewhere else. The restaurant is small so our table was crammed at the very front by the door and we couldn’t be moved. Good spot for a happy hour- not so much for a nice dinner out.

    The food was average. Strange combinations of ingredients - Gruyère in Mexican enchiladas? It tasted ok tho. No spice or cilantro in the guacamole - just a mashed avocado. Tacos were ok. Very average.

    Food was good. Server was polite, accurate, fun, and professional. But that Bloody Mary. Holy Smoke! I am new to this BM scene. I've had about 10 at 10 different restaurants and each of them has not wowed me, but I love tomato juice, I love spices and I love love vodka, so I was determined to find "the one". Welp. Look no more, I found her! The mix is house-made, by none other than the owner. I attempted to sign over my home to get this recipe, but he was not budging. Needless to say, I have had a few solo moments at that bar, with just me and "Mary". Excellent place!

    Located in piedmont town centre, location is great. The restaurant is little disorganised and we could not figure out who to ask for reserved table. Anyhow that got sorted since its billing / counter who are engrossed in their screens rather than people to be greeted. Our host was really good to keep us comfortable. Cocktails they do look really good and taste too but they DO NOT have alcohol to even justify it being a cocktail. Ordered few plates to eat including veggie bowl, nachos, guac, shrimp tacos. Pics attached…the tacos are unflavoured no seasoning and nothing mexican about them. My biggest problem with these tacos was …execution since one was too wet and other was ALL FRIED with no lemon or citrus to cut through all that dryness of fried food. Overall: i will say host was amazing and plus since it was weekend, i just went on with the experience and enjoy chats and laughs. But not a place i like to go back to when really hungry or wanna have a drink.

    I recently learned about this restaurant from a friend. We had a delightful lunch with an amazing margarita, so I made a reservation for some best friends coming into town on a Saturday night. Loved the vibe—casual, Latin music, and actually quieter than I imagined on a Saturday night. Lots of families but still fun and current. We had to laugh at ourselves because all of us (50ish) could not read the menu due to the small print and dark lighting. Margaritas were amazing! My favorite is the OG Cadillac. The best! Food was delicious! My favorite was the queso fundido and shrimp taco and my friends loved their enchiladas as well. Brie and Andre were perfectly hospitable. My friends LOVED the restaurant. We had a fabulous time and I will be back!
