It´s all about the corn - the maiz - at this upscale Mexican stunner from chef Alam Méndez of México City´s acclaimed Pasillo de Humo. Four kinds are turned into fresh masa daily for the tacos, tamales, and other corn-bassed essentials, and even the art on the walls is corn-themed.

Vegetables and fish are one of the Chef's great specialties, including tuna tostada and yellow ceviche, culminating with the traditional catch of the day.

    We had a good experience. It was very sweet of them to offer complimentary champagne as it was our anniversary. Food and service was very good. My only critique would be that before choosing the restaurant we had checked the menu on the website and it was pretty large and had lots more vegetarian options. When we went there we were disappointed to see a very small and different menu. Please mention or update your website as it misleads the diners. Although the staff was very helpful in suggesting and making veg options for us and we enjoyed them too.

    My friends and I decided to go to maiz 64 to celebrate my bachelorette and had so much fun and had delicious food, the corn tamal is a must, it also was a fave for all of us, we had a couple drinks, they were so flavorful and fresh, the staff made sure we had the best bachelorette dinner ✨

    Second time there. First time was great but this second time the food was not the same quality. The staff was rushing our meal although we arrived two hours before closing. Chicken was not cooked all the way. Food was under seasoned. Disappointed.

    As always, the food and the drinks were extraordinary. The broccolini bok choy dish was to die for and the chicken breast was huge and so tasty. Highly recommend the Cuernavaca margarita.

    It was our best restaurant in Washington Dc, Service (young student lady, unfortunately I did not ask her name) was supper kind, food was great (I had an octopus grilled). Place a bit noisy, but all together I can only recommend.

    This was I one of the finest meals of Mexican cuisine I have ever had. I would actually say one of the top 5 best meals ever. (And I’m blessed to be able to eat all over the world for my job). From the corn tamale with goat cheese sauce, to their take on tuna ceviche to al pastor tacos and grilled fish with Mexican chili’s to broccoli tacos with mole, then to the crazy amazing banana tamale dessert and churros….it was outstanding. The drinks were equally as creative, with Mezcal espresso martinis and a Mezcal drink with eggwhites and chili rim that tasted different on each side, (like two drinks in one.) It was a dinner and experience I will be talking about for a long time. Seriously outstanding!!

    The portions are toooo small! We left hungry! The food taste great but we paid $168 & they automatically added 20% gratuity 👎🏾 for what, appetizers lol! But seriously it took a while to get our food & it was luke warm when we finally got our meals 🤦🏾‍♂️

    One of the best additions to 14th Street in a long time. After discovering this place, I came back two nights in a row, it was literally THAT good. Everything is perfectly executed, and all of the staff are incredibly knowledgeable. This is definitely on the top of my list for a great meal in the city, and perhaps the best on 14th Street (sorry Le Dip, I love you, but Maiz 64 is sensational).

    We had been mourning the loss of Poca Madre (which closed during the pandemic) since we missed a chance to eat elevated Mexican. It seems that Maiz 64 has filled that void! Our taco/cocktail experience last night was some of the best food we have had in DC, and the service and attention to detail made the night feel special. We will be back!

    The best service my husband and I have ever received! We are young "foodies" and have sometimes been looked over when dining in nicer spots, but Jairo and the staff at Maiz64 treated us with such respect and made our 1st anniversary so so special! Best tostada of my life. The corn tamal <3 will be back when visiting DC!

    The restaurant was nice on the inside… definitely disappointing for the price. We had no idea that the appetizers would be so tiny and so expensive… for the price point of this place it is not worth it at all…

    The atmosphere is nice most of the restaurant staff are polite and helpful people, unfortunately my waiter was a bit rude it seems he was not comfortable enough with his job and also demanded that I tip him more than 20 dollars for a bill of 90 dollars. Weird.

    Food was great. I just really enjoy Maiz64. I had the rockfish (amazing). Apps and entrees all arrived at the same time - wish it had been spaced a bit better. But everything was really tasty and beautifully prepared.
