Main and Vine
While famous for producing some of the finest wines in the world, Northern California is also home to several of the top craft breweries in production today, and prides itself on creating such cocktails as the iconic gin martini, pisco punch, and cable car just to name a few.
It is this craft and culinary union that embodies the MAIN & VINE spirit and approach. Our bistro welcomes guests to experience the best of Northern California for themselves, in a sophisticatedly hip, yet relaxed atmosphere.
One of my favorite local go to restaurants for an evening of great conversation, food and drinks
Service was fantastic! Nice new selections on summer menu.
A hidden gem on the Main Line. The food is consistently outstanding, the ambience sophisticated yet comfortable and inviting, and the staff professional and friendly. By far and away the best dining experience to be had along Rt 30. Deserves to be the next hot dining spot.
Great drinks, oysters, salads, bread, and salmon-all done just right. A lovely spot, just right for a romantic evening or a fun get-away.
We were traveling and in the area overnight...I went on line to find a restaurant in the area and 'Main and Vine' popped up....we absolutely loved this place!! Great service...outstanding food...and we had a wonderful bottle of wine...the server sure knew her grapes as we discussed which bottle of wine would suit our taste...she did not disappoint!
Overall I would give this restaurant a 5 out of 5...loved it...if we lived anywhere near Philly it would be our go to restaurant!!
The new menu items were delicious and the service with our waiter Christian was excellent. He is knowledgeable of his products and has an excellent personality . The manager Nikki and Christian were very attentive and helpful throughout the meal creating a wonderful experience.
An excellent dinner!!! Amazing food, wine and atmosphere!!
I have been here a few times and heard that they launched a new summer menu, so of course I had to return to try it...and boy was I not disappointed! There is just too much to choose from...everything sounded delish! We started with the Burrata which came with a pistachio pesto, peaches, fennel and sourdough...oh my goodness...the flavors! It was the perfect appetizer to share while we sipped our drinks from the bar. I had the First Crush, which never disappoints and is a great summer cocktail. For my dinner, I ordered the Summer Caprese Salad...let me tell you...this is summer in a bowl!!!! It was so refreshing and filling! The melons and tomatoes were perfect and the wildflower honey was so tasty...the flavors were just spot on. I decided to add protein and went with the salmon...and I have to say...it was the perfect choice. It was cooked perfectly and really complimented the salad! I will be returning very soon for this exact meal...but of course I’ll have to try some other things because the entire menu sounds so good!! Also, service was exceptional as usual. Shout out to our server Christian who was super attentive and made some great recommendations...like adding the Salmon to my salad...thank you Christian! “Best New Restaurant on the Main Line” did not disappoint... Definitely get there this summer to try this menu!
Had lackluster experience today....which is a bummer because I’ve always had a great experience here. Menu has been changed, which was a a letdown because a few amazing dessert options as well as pizzas were removed. We had the sweet potato hummus which was amazing and the sourdough bread is yummy. I ordered the Margherita pizza because it’s my sons favorite (first time having it here). We actually sent it back. It was completely bland and barely any mozzarella cheese......it also took terribly long to make it to the table. It’s a sin the Kennett Square Mushroom pizza appears to have been removed (had it once & was amazing) and replaced with this mediocre option. Total bummer.....ordered the chocolate cake which was tasty, but didn’t knock our socks off. Waiter was attentive & did offer us a replacement for the pizza.
Good food, nice atmosphere and very friendly, helpful staff.
First time. Service was a little shaky but he did use the "I'm New" warning. Menu has some interesting options so be prepared for the non traditional. All four plates were empty at the end of the night. Shrimp tostada was very good and the SF Cipp was plentiful. Pork chop was a little light on flavor. No bread for the table. Desserts were tasty but sorbet menu was sparse.
The overall experience was enjoyable and relaxing, music was uplifting, service was very good. There was a nice variety of food choices from casual to entrees. The salmon dish was very flavorful, warm bread was off the charts. Can’t wait to go back and try something new!
We had a fabulous lunch. The wine was good, food was delicious, service was excellent!
If you go about an hour n half before closing, the servers don’t hesitate to rush you. The restaurant should limit late night bookings on Open Table if that will be the case.
This was our first visit to Main & Vine, and we'll be back! For starters, it's one of the most beautiful and well laid out restaurants we've ever seen. Seating at both bar and tables is comfortable and spacious, with absolutely no traffic problems to distract diners. From our initial greeting to goodbyes at the door, we felt like everyone who works there truly cared about us and our experience. The menu is sufficiently deep and wide to keep most people happy - everyone in our party of 6 found something to enjoy for each of 3 courses. We greatly appreciate the efforts they make to use fresh, local ingredients. The artichokes were very tasty and well made, even though I prefer them in the crisper Roman style. I had to have a side of pureed potatoes next, since a "potato smoothie" is one of my absolute favorite things, whether mashed, whipped, pureed, or otherwise rendered soft and full - and I was fully rewarded! My spicy salumi pizza was also excellent, with the thin crisp crust I prefer and wonderfully hot Calabrian chilis. My wife enjoyed her scallops and our companions had combinations of fried oysters, Caesar salad, multiple small plates, and W&V's excellent bread. Nobody complained about anything, and this is not an easy crowd :) It doesn't pretend to be haute cuisine - it's well chosen and well prepared comfort food at a high level, and the price is right. Try it - like us, you'll want to return.
very attentive staff...warm reception every time...like the bar area...a good buzz
Beautiful space and delicious food! What more do you need?:)
First time in the restaurant since changed ownership. Very well done. Great bar area and then a wide variety of sitting areas for casual and table dining. Food was very well done. We sat at the bar and enjoyed good drinks and bartenders
We were seated in the bar despite having reservations for at least 2 weeks. The round table was absolutely too small for 4 adult diners with drinks and dishes. They never told our waiter we were seated. We had to ask who our waiter was after about 15 minutes . The waiter was very nice. He waz knowledgeable about the menu. Service was slow, as they had him covering another dining room. We were told we would get a round of drinks comped but it never happened. Despite all the above. I will give them a second try. I will make sure to sit in the
dining room. The bar was very uncomfortable they had no pillows to support you in the bankette.
Recently discovered Main and Vine and have been back 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Definitely a hidden gem on the mainline. The food is outstanding. Service is terrific. The menu is unique.
Service and food was top notch. From the friendly hostess to the attentive waitress; everything was perfect. Can’t wait to go back for happy hour with friends.
The service and food was excellent. I would definitely recommend for large groups and special occasions. Great drink menu and memorable food options.
Birthday dinner. A little surprised they did not provide a small complimentary birthday dessert. However, wait staff was very pleasant and food was good.
The bar service was so slow! Even brought over a drink with a fly in it and, the amount of time it took to bring the Martini back just seemed like they took the fly out and gave it back to me.
We had a larger party of 7 this past Friday night and the service was really slow. Really slow. Slow to greet us and get drinks going, slow to take orders, and 2 people in our party never got their main meal because it took so long. They just at that point decided to cancel their orders. Seems like for a newer place there are some kinks to be worked out. Still had a good time and would try it again. Hesitant to recommend but personally would give it another try.
Jay Stevens and his team have knocked this one out of the park. From the well crafted cocktails (love the bourbon with red wine floater), to the sourdough pizza (black grape!), to the pasta (Sunday gravy)- Main & Vine never disappoints.
We had a large party and the service was on point. The helped us select bottles of wine for the table that were delicious and at a good price point. We ordered almost everything on the menu and I was able to sample most of it. Nothing fell flat.
Congrats on 1 year in Villanova! Can’t wait to see what you all do next!
Main & Vine do it again. This place continues to impress with some must try items on the summer menu.
Love the vibe, love the food, love the people.
They captured wine country from the vine.
Just left Main and Vine and just had to write a review on our dining experience! Drinks were awesome, food was fresh and the service was impeccable. This restaurant is just want the Main Line needed! Can’t wait to come back!
PS. Get the First Crush, mushroom pizza and scallops. You will not be disappointed!
The food and service were spectacular as always. Claudine our waitress is a delight . The owner Jay is always very friendly and attentive and made the evening special for us on our anniversary.
I’ve eaten here many times since it first opened and after a bright starts it gets progressively worse every time I go both in terms of food and service quality. I really want it to do well, my wife and I love the design of the space and the bar. The pizza’s are great but the rest of the food has become very mediocre. There is also an apparent lack of management presence and direction which does not bode well. I’m not one to normally write restaurant reviews, I do this constructively in the hope there is a marked improvement.
Main and Vine is a breezy, elegantly casual place to have a meal. It’s decorated beautifully and the food is solid. They have a nice cocktail program too! I’ve been for dinner twice now and have not been disappointed.
We had a fantastic meal, at this new restaurant in Villanova! We were looking to stay Vegetarian, and we really lucked out! The artichokes with Meyers lemon dipping spread and the pesto dip, was absolutely amazing, and so was the cauliflower leek soup, and finally, the maitaki mushroom and leek pizza!!! Everything was fresh and delicious and perfect!
We will definitely be back!
Terrible service and food. I had dined there when it first opened. Had hoped that it would improve but it was worse than the first time. We really need a good restaurant in that location but this one isn’t any good. I think they’re just surviving on happy hours.
After a small bump being seated by the bar and waiting to start, all the servers were apologetic, attentive, and a delight. The food was delicious as it has been each time I’ve been here. Jay, the owner, came by and made everything right as one would hope, yet seldom receive, when one is expecting a fine dining experience. Casual yet elegant, Main and Vine an inviting and delicious experience. I look forward to coming back.
All 3 of us were pleased with our food choice, mine the mussels in red curry Thai style sauce and the burgers with brie cheese and fries., that after sharing the beet salad. The mussels were very clean tasting, delicate and succulent, tho wish they had been larger and plumper because a number had split apart and stuck to the side of shells perhaps over steamed for the size. Sauce was spicier than I expected tho complemented the mussels very well. The avocado spread slice of bread was delicious. The burgers were a hit with innovative touches. I look forward to enjoying one next time. Server was attentive and helpful with all our individual special requests. The ambiance is calming, soothing soft greys tho I prefer some bright colors. It was quite quiet with very few diners at the time, probably because it was the start of a long holiday weekend.
Very attractive atmosphere but food was underwhelming and overpriced. Piped in music was much too loud. Will not be returning.
The owner Jay and the manager Ray do a wonderful job at the restaurant providing personal attention. The new chef is excellent and the quality of the food is superb. Our waiter, Christian, was very attentive and knowledgeable.
There was a large crowd for a college graduation and the service and food were still spectacular.
very good food, terrible service, very loud acoustics
We came to Main and Vine to celebrate my 25th birthday, and it was lovely! This was my first birthday since I moved to Pennsylvania from Northern California so it was really nice to see familiar words on the menu. My cocktail, the east bay blossom, was TO DIE FOR. Tyler was a great server and had them put a sparkler in my dessert which definitely made my night. Thanks for everything! One downside was the noise level. They mentioned it was their 1st anniversary (congrats by the way!) so the bar was crazy packed. That along with the live music (I love live music at a restaurant) made it awfully hard to hear each other but didn’t ruin anything by a long run.
