What Insiders Are Saying
For your next special occasion/fancy night out dinner in SoHo, consider the French fine dining at Le Coucou.
Le Coucou was a unique experience. The food was inventive yet wonderfully satisfying. The space is intimate while also exciting. We will definitely return!
Delicious food and wine. Great service too!
Breakfast was lovely. Impeccable service, delicious food. Peaceful and charming decor. My sister and I shared a deliciously cheesy gougere and we each had the lobster-eggs dish - creamy and tasty.
Daniel Rose has hit a grand slam with his first American restaurant.
Outstanding food and service in an elegant setting.
Highly recommend for a special occasion!
Awesome cuisine, service and decor (the open kitchen is amazing). The service is impeccable and so friendly. I would improve the wine list: (not enough good value wine)
We love Starr restaurants and this one did not disappoint. Best service we’ve ever had and everyone was very knowledgeable about food and wine. Would highly recommend.
Overall the experience is good for the payment but its always awkward when they let you to your table 30 min after the reservation you made in advance. It was not a great way to start a birthday dinner
The place is amazing and staff there had a good knowledge about the food contents and wines they’re serving, I had a great dinner at theirs.
Exceptional in every way - warm, professional service; inventive, exceptional food ; beautiful decor, which even extends to the restrooms, with charming French music piped in and luxury hand wash. We loved everything about it!
Beautiful setting for a fancy breakfast with a friend. Wonderful service, perfect mimosas and divine Aesop products in the bathrooms but the food itself was not anything special.
Outstanding service and my meal was exceptional! I would highly recommend!
We had the set lunch, it was probably the best thought out menu I have seen in a while. Lots of seafood, all delicious. Very comfortable restaurant with a peaceful atmosphere. If I could afford it, I would go every week!
A nice French restaurant. Maybe I was a little underwhelmed by the choices in the menu. But the wait staff was very good and helpful, even revealing stuff that maybe the restaurant was trying to keep under wraps, eg, the sauce on the sweetbreads and sole were virtually identical. And the ambience is rustic, so it doesnt seem as special as, say, Daniel. But a good meal for a decent price. Just not everything i had been lead to believe.
This is the epitome of dining excellence and something that few get to experience in a lifetime. The food and wine is amazing but the service is something to behold and you are treated like royalty.
Fabulous experience! Food and service are very special.
My wife and I were there for a Saturday luncheon. Everything first class from beginning to end. The food of course was the highlight. Oysters presented in a special way best I’ve had. The sauce on the halibut was heavenly . The service and ambience Outstanding as well.
Paris in NYC
The food is wonderful. The check-in, seating process is gracious. The room is handsome, spacious and comfortable. The noise level is generally low. A note and and issue. The note: the menu was virtually unchanged from when I was here three months ago. The issue: service was, like the last time I dined here, less then stellar. The service was a poor combination of hurried and perfunctory....unless you make the wait staff take some time and focus a bit, they simply rush things (everything from taking an order, to plopping bread & butter on the table, to whisking plates & cutlery from under & around the guests).....it really takes away from the overall experience the restaurant is trying to deliver. That said, the food is extremely good.
Solid overall but not a great value. Would recommend a good bistro instead to save money or pay up for a higher end restaurant
The prix fixe lunch menu had very appetizing selections. Our food was absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed, not rushed, so we took our time and enjoyed a delightful, civilized lunch. Can't wait to visit again.
Easily one of the best restaurants in the US, let alone NYC. Service is perfect, friendly without pretense. Food execution is spot on, portions are appropriate and elements well balanced. Wine list is impressive, albeit not a lot of bargains. I live in CA and try to make it to Le Coucou 3-4 times per year. Should be on everyone’s must visit list
It was delicious! So rich and yet so light at the same time
Food was quite good. However the overall experience also very much relates to the service and general feel. The service and attentiveness was not at Michelin level. It was a bit hectic with too many waitresses around but not serving a purpose. Actually cannot say the service was punctual, time between meals was too long. It took us 20+min to receive the bread.. I am not sure if we would recommend it as a must visit.
Perfect restaurant with great food, service and ambiance. Great for any special occasion as Calorie count too high for everyday!
They did a beautiful job of helping me celebrate my birthday and were generous with their attention and care. Love this place.
Overall, a lovely experience topped by excellent food and impeccable, attentive service.
Great food and wine
Food and service were incredible, that said, the asparagus was not worth 34 dollars for 2 spears, so the price vs quality lowered its value.
Went with high expectations and left very disappointed and confused why everyone says this is the best French restaurant. The price is reasonable for the amount of food, but the quality of seafood was poor. Maybe we went on an off day?
Went for special occasion. Lovely ambience with candlelit tables. Very good service, though our main server was a bit somber. Wonderful interpretation of classic French cuisine. My one criticism are the ridiculous wine prices. We reverted to getting a few wines by the glass because the price level on the wine list is so high. I understand a restaurant of this calibre wants to offer rare and expensive wines. However, you also need a selection in the $75-150 range to serve your clientele. I noticed that even tables of four only ordered one bottle.
This was one of the greatest experiences I've ever had in my life!
The food, the service, the ambience . . . simply the best experience I've ever had.
For a 1 star michelin, the level is just acceptable, and significantly overpriced.
The quenelle and caviar dish has good individual components but is not well harmonized. The sauce acidity overpass the caviar subtil taste.
For whom has known the legendary sole quenelle and caviar at the "relais de Bracieux" (closed), this new interpretation is very disappointing.
The bouillabaisse is nice with good fish pièces and aioli, but the soup itself lacks fish fumet as it delivers too much tomato flavor.
One of the BEST dining experiences I've had in NYC. The food was incredible and authentic and the ambience a feast for the eyes.
Food was superb. We had an amazing experience!
Beautiful place. Went for lunch with my fiancé and had an amazing meal. Oysters were heavenly and the wine and cocktails were delicious. Go if you can get a table.
Such an exceptional dining experience. The room is gorgeous and perfectly lit. Service and food beyond!
