Lac St Jack
Chef and restaurateur Aaron Barnett features rustic dishes from the countryside of Lyon - the heart and soul of French cooking - while providing his own unique twist from a French-Canadian background. Chef de Cuisine, Elise Walker helms the new take on the menu, bringing her own, distinct palate to what Aaron and St Jack have built.
While many classics from the menu and the beverage list will remain, there will be several new dishes to savor, new cocktails to imbibe and a full, well-rounded wine list to dive into upon your visit.
Pickled Mustard Seed, French Horn Mushroom, Confit Egg Yolk, Gaufrette
Avocado, Radish, Crouton, Dijon Vinaigrette, Fines Herbes
Sauce Béarnaise, Shallot, Red Wine Demi-Glace
The service was great, the food was good, the price was a bit high for the ambiance at this restaurant. The restaurant has a diner feel in lieu of fine dining.
Very noisy if you sit in the back and there is a large party dining there.
A wonderful meal! Service was excellent, and every part was amazing, from the cocktails to the apps to the entrées to the dessert. We can't wait to come back!
Delightful evening. Fantastic staff. We had originally booked a table outside but the weather turned very foul. The host was so gracious I’m accommodating us in a very quiet back corner.
The food was amazing but the cocktails might have been even better!
Great service - efficient waitperson. Helpful wine guy got us where we wanted to go. Host offered to reseat us in a booth after we requested to move off a middle table…
Menu could use some more explanatory text for French-deficient étrangers…I’m just not going to go item by item on the menu and ask the waiter ‘what does this word mean?…and what does this word mean?…and this word?’ - that’s a battle I’ll never win, so I spent 10 minutes looking item names up on my phone. Zut, alors! C’est la vie, non?
Menu is for the early 20th-century First Class class transatlantic oceanliner equal opportunity carnivore: mixed duck, seafood, beef type items. Not much for the squeamish. Food itself was quite tasty, loved the butter lettuce salad… only downside was the ‘medium’ flatiron steak was waaaay too purple in the middle…we started at the end slices (tres bien) and worked in/ noticed that middle was tartariffic too late to complain or send back to the grill. Some basic quality control would have helped in the kitchen. Maybe that’s on us…maybe it’s the way they do it in France…either way, the dogs were thrilled with their windfall when we got home. Bottom line? Not enough to deter from returning.
We loved our first time and will definitely be back. It’s been a long time that I’ve had really good mussels. Love the staff, super friendly.
Always reliable and classically French, it’s the details that matter. What separates LAC from others is the Service and the cook’s attention to detail. We always feel like we are escaped to Paris for a night!
The duck and flat iron steak were amazing. We sampled a few drinks and every one worth ordering again. We chose to eat outside (were the only ones outside) and never felt forgotten. The great people there made our night feel special. Thank you.
Everything was delicious! We are probably going to go back next week!
Service was not great and you essentially sit in the parking lot
Fabulous evening at Lac St Jack with special friends from out of town. Service was impeccable - not stuffy, just real and friendly, attentive and helpful from every staff member we encountered. More like we were in someone's care rather than just being served. Food was delicious, wine list impressive, Somm served up stories to go along with the bottle we ordered helping our choice feel meaningful and special. The atmosphere was both cozy and vibrant making us feel like we were someplace doing a thing we'd remember for a long time.
No question, st jack is a wonderful addition to Lake Oswego.
We like a regular, weekly date night spot and this is fast becoming the place. Sundays are nice and quiet and we get to enjoy our time with our favorite members of the team. They have an excellent wine selection and the food and cocktails are absolutely top notch every single time. We’re so grateful to have a little piece of Portland a few minutes closer to home. Thanks to Donnan, Brandy, and Mark for always making us feel like family.
Great for date night. Nice outdoor covered/heated seating.
We have a home near Lac and have been wanting to try Lac
St Jack for awhile. We just returned from France and felt like we were transported back while eating at Lac St Jack! Outdoor dining was warm with the heat lamps and noise level was quiet. Interior is charming. Our waiter and waitstaff were incredibly attentive.
We ordered the mussels Provençal, Shrimp, butter lettuce salad, ficelle with European butter, ans Madeleines for dessert.
Mussels were fantastic! The entire meal was superb. We will return often. So happy to have the restaurant in LO
Amazing food with attentive staff. Highly reccomend!
I almost always get the mussels, and I love the butter lettuce salad. Vibe is comfy and friendly. Service is great. Have been going to St. Jack for years, so I had to try the new Lake Oswego location since it is close to me. Same good food and good service.
Great addition to Area choices. The food and service is great. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Drinks and wine list also great! Back of restaurant could use a little more lighting.
What a great addition to Lake Grove! Great service and food/drink, as with their original location. Love it!
Very nice place to have a special dinner without having to drive all the way into town. Will definitely dine here again.
We had a great time at the Champagne & Poisson event. We'll definitely be back again to try their full menu
We enjoyed a special seafood and champagne celebration. The seafood tower we were served was even more beautiful than the promotion photo. The Louis Roederer representatives were friendly and informative and the champagne was a delightful accompaniment to all the delicious seafood, sauces, and additions.
Most excellent service and food. Great for date night or hanging out with friends.
Wonderful and careful service and attention to the event of the evening
We have been for the second time to this recently new restaurant in LO. The duck is fantastic and delicious, the butter lettuce salad is divine, and good oysters too. However, I had the vegetarian plate this time and it was way over salted so much so that I could not finish my dinner.
Loved it so much last Friday, went again last night! Crafted cocktails and amazing menu!
St. Jack never disappoints! It's fabulous day in every way!! Lake Oswego is so lucky to have this restaurant in the community. The cod is outstanding.
We've eaten at St. Jack's and La Moule, and have thoroughly enjoyed our meals there, so we were expectant that we would find a similar good experience at Lac St. Jack. Indeed, we did. Our meal began with a chicken liver pate which was excellent, as was the bread it was served with. My wife had the mussels, which were the fattest she'd ever had, in a tasty (and spicy) broth. I had the very savory duck legs, which were cooked to perfection without the need for a sweet sauce, the meat of which just fell off the bone. Absolutely wonderful! If you like a noisy environment, this is the place for you. A bit energetic for us old folks, but we enjoyed the experience nonetheless. We'll be back.
Fabulous experience! Foodie paradise! First class bar!
Best mussels I've ever had, except for the last time I was here. I love everything I've ever eaten at St. Jack and will *always* come back for more!
Great outdoor dining experience. Food and wine were amazing!
Fantastic in every way! The atmosphere outstanding and our meals just as impressive. We couldn't eat until late because of a football game. How wonderful to have a restaurant in Lake Oswego that will seat until 10 pm on a Saturday night. Our reservation was at 8:45 and we stayed until 10:45. We never felt rushed, our server telling us to stay as long as we want. We love everything about this restaurant and are grateful to have them in our community.
Easily my new favorite restaurant in the whole Portland Metro area. Absolute perfection (and the portions have been so large!) and the service from the whole staff is very attentive and kind.
Please remember to be kind to our service friends in the restaurant industry! This restaurant really really cares and has a lot of passion. Thank you team Lac St Jack! 💕
It was our first time at Lac St Jack. We ordered a bottle of wine and shared the big ribeye & fries, butter lettuce salad, bread & olives. The tables by the kitchen were extremely noisy and the tables up front a little better. The prices were higher end but the decor was pretty basic. So the most important part was that the food was decent (no fresh veggies offered) and service okay. However, nothing special to draw us back there, given the price:/
First time, excellent service and knowledge of wine. Great craft cocktail and food was on point! Nice pastry dessert too!
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. Our first time at the restaurant. The sommelier really knew the wine list and recommend a great bottle. Food and service were very good.
We ate outdoors on uncomfortable chairs. The table had a metal bar where feet usually go - a bit awkward.
The mussels were good, but too much broth. I took leftovers home and added pasta to make soup.
My husband's $44 dollar flatiron steak with fries was very chewy and had a raw beef flavor. Medium rare it was not. The bearnaise sauce was excellent, which masked the off flavored beef.
The wine and service were excellent.
Food was fabulous and waitress was very attentive
This was our first visit to the LO location. We absolutely LOVED the food and they offer a wonderful wine selection. It was obvious like many establishments, they were short staffed, and for that we understand. I think to ease some of the long waits, it would be to helpful to get drinks to the table more timely. We waited quite some time before we were able to order a bottle of wine, which could have been enjoyed instead of watching the wait staff run around. My only other low rating is for the loud music inside. This is why I prefer to dine outside (there was no availability though). I personally, prefer a quiet dining setting at the end of a long work day and find loud music at dinner to be more annoying than relaxing.
Great cocktails with tasty, creative ice cubes. Flavor-full meals, especially the broth for the mussels, attractive plates and plate presentation, dessert was the weakest link but not bad (chewy pastry). Thoughtful and wide reaching wine list. Very attentive service.
Not inexpensive but you can see/taste/feel where the dollars are spent.
