The highly-lauded Restaurant St. Jack from the NW district opens a new location, south of Portland in Lake Oswego.

Chef and restaurateur Aaron Barnett features rustic dishes from the countryside of Lyon - the heart and soul of French cooking - while providing his own unique twist from a French-Canadian background. Chef de Cuisine, Elise Walker helms the new take on the menu, bringing her own, distinct palate to what Aaron and St Jack have built.

The food really is so yummy. I had the butter lettuce salad and the Muscles. Oh my goodness the sauce in the Muscles was fabulous. I am still thinking about it today. Very nice.

Food was great but the time for food to come out was very slow. Dinner started at 7 and didn’t end until 10 because the food came out so slowly. We ordered a lot of food but still.

Lac St. Jack will be permanently closing in a week. This is very regrettable, because fine food has finally come to Lake Oswego. We always enjoyed our dinners there and will now be forced to their other place in NW Portland. If it is anywhere close to the LO location, the trip will be well worth it.

The butter lettuce salad was outstanding, unique, and enough for 2. The gnocchi was outstanding, with a sauce that that I loved. I will definitely have those again. The steak frites- steak a bit chewy, fries and béarnaise sauce very good. Our beer and wine selections were good. Sorry to say that this was our first time at LSJ. There are several items on the menu that we want to try before they close. We wish they could remain and be profitable. I imagined a crowded restaurant and difficult parking, which was not the situation at all, or we would have been there sooner, and more often.

Great staff. Very limited menu. Music bad. Meal OK but not exceptional for. The price. Wines were too expensive. Local wines are as good and better values especially in this economy. Seem to have too many people working versus customers and tables. The two seater booths are not comfortable.

Had excellent experiences in the past, but on our Anniversary it was a considerable disappointment. There were four of us. First, do not sit in the booths near the entrance-the air conditioning (which apparently the building managers can not adjust) resulted in having to get a throw for my wife from the car just to be warm enough to enjoy our meal. I wore my sports coat throughout the meal. Second, they have a new chef de cuisine-who is very slow! Our meal took at least an hour and a half to arrive. The starter course had three plates delivered, and a wait of at least 10 minutes till the fourth arrived. While it was Friday evening, nothing moved very quickly. Wine, sparkling water, the food-everything pointed to a bit of confusion in the back of the house-which was evident in the service. Food was acceptable-anything would have been good after how long we waited. I'll return, but certainly not on a weekend, nor for any special occasion.

Awesome food, great service, fantastic cocktails. We stated it was our Anniversary on Open Table and every server stopped to wish us a happy anniversary on top of the complimentary champagne they gave us when seated. 10/10 would recommend!

Lac St Jack just started Happy Hour this week so we tried it out. The HH menu is very limited and mediocre value. We had the mussels, chicken liver pate, and split a butter lettuce salad. Everything was delicious, especially the salad. There was enough to feed 3 of us though there could have been more chicken liver pate. HH goes from 5-6. It's a decent bargain, but not over the top outstanding to make me want to return for HH. Wine by the glass (house red and white) was decent, but still $9 a glass, which I guess is pretty standard. Better to bring your own wine. At 6 we ordered a burger which was terrific, the tuna appetizer, and then had the pavlova for desert. I love this place, but I missed seeing the duck on the regular menu. We'll go back for dinner, but unless they expand the Happy Hour menu, I don't think we'll go back for that.

Best meal we've had out in quite a long time. We'd been to the NW location of this restaurant several times, but first time here. Service was terrific, food was excellent and will definitely be back. Our booth was a little dirty on the seats, and the liquor prices (wine and drinks) are substantially marked up (we got a bottle of wine that retails around 45 and their wine list sells it for $120.) It was pretty quiet for Saturday night but this spot is really terrific. Looking forward to checking out their fall menu and putting this in our rotation.

Wonderful cocktail (Lovedrive); prawns a delicious appetizer; heirloom tomatoes were a good summer shareable. Sommelier (very knowledgeable) suggested s delicious wine. Sole was somewhat small, and bony (not served with assistance of deboning) - however, what flesh there was was well prepared and tasty.

Outstanding bartenders, courteous staff, and bistro atmosphere. The food is outstanding with fine quality ingredients, imaginative preparation, and good presentation. Many plant-forward options appealing even to omnivores! Parking is easy, too. It is one of our favorite dinner spots.
