Overall the absolute best Japanese experience in Oaxaca City at least compared ti Sanzine, Crudo and Yuku. Great fish, solid presentation and that ramen surprised the hell out of me!

El mejor ramen de todo Oaxaca, he visitado otros lugares, pero ninguno le gana en sabor, calidad, presentación, ingredientes a este lugar. Mi restaurante favorito.

Our last night in Oaxaca, a friend suggested this Japanese Restaurant. We had eaten Mexican food all week and so it was a nice break. I’m Japanese American, so my expectations were hopeful. The menu was quite comprehensive, but I was in Mexico, I thought I should try their sashimi. The toro was amazing and the best I’ve probably ever had. the sunomono was also very special with the fresh seafood. The ocha was also very good. I tested quality of the restaurant by their misoshiru. Many restaurants skimp on the amount of miso, but this version is very flavorful. I wish we had discovered it earlier as I probably would’ve eaten here more than once this week. And let’s not forget about the ambience. The waiter explained the history of this building, which was particularly interesting as well as the murals on the walls. Check it out! You won’t be disappointed.

This was the second time we have dined at Kintaro and as we previously experienced, the food was excellent. Our five person group ordered a range of dishes including rice bowls, ramen, handrolls, sushi, and of course, desserts. Our only issue was the service. We waited close to half an hour for our reserved table and had to flag down a waiter to get them to take our order. The other issue was a very obnoxious couple who took a personal call on speaker and had the entire restaurant listen to their conversation. The ambience is beautiful and the food is definitely worth a visit.

Excellent choice, especially if you want a change from traditional Oaxacan cuisine. Great selection of hot and cold Japanese dishes, nicely presented. Beautiful interior, a former brothel built in 1901..

La mejor comida japonesa de todo Oaxaca y no bromeó, he ido a otros lugares y no hay comparación. Para alguien que sabe de todo el proceso, paciencia y dedicación que hay detrás de un ramen o cualquier platillo japonés, verá que el precio de los platillos son más que excelentes. El lugar súper bonito, calmado, con música lo suficientemente fuerte para escucharla pero en ningún momento es algo. Cócteles, deliciosos, les recomiendo mucho el “666”. Mi lugar favorito. Sin duda regresaré siempre.
