   Service was slow, and there was little attention paid to diners. We waited for half an hour before our drinks order was taken, and another hour before we received our starters (which were small and simple). The food was lovely, though not worth the wait or poor service. Our group felt the waiters were condescending and obviously faking their hospitality. Would not recommend or come back here.

This is an average wait on a busy night, but since you weren't happy, I told you that I had taken the service charge off the bill as a good will gesture. You then replied that wasn't necessary, because the service was delightful. You enjoyed your Birthday plate, and you left smiling and thankful. It seems we weren't the ones faking something..

   Lovely restaurant that you could easily walk passed if you didn’t know it’s reputation. Very knowledgable staff both regarding food and wine. Would definitely revisit!

   I don't like to be negative, but this was my second visit to Kindling, and will unfortunately be my last. There were different front of house staff and I felt that they gave a slightly pretentious feel to the place. My octopus starter was tasty but really chewy. I advised them of this, but it didn't seem to bother them. I had ordered green leaves to accompany my halibut main and asked for this to be served without the dressing. I was persauded to have the dressing. It made no contribution to the flavour combinations but did make the leaves soggy and was actually unpleasantly greasy. The addition of an apple sauce to the dish was just wrong. Almost like they're unnecessarily trying too hard to be "different". The "tiramisu" was ok but not really as described. My dessert wine was a poor choice. I did speak to the chef before leaving, but she wasn't interested either. This was disappointing, particularly as my first visit (for lunch) was enjoyable and promising.

The level of badly contained rage you showed is something we don't accept at kindling. Criticism is always welcome, but walking up to the kitchen during a busy service to loudly complain in our owners face was deeply avoidable.

   When informed of allergens it’s good practice to have a menu ready and waiting for your customer. I informed of my dairy allergy at the time of booking. Please use the info provided for effective and sleek communication that puts your diner at ease and sets an inclusive tone. Nobody likes the conversation about this! So just have the information available. It’s a legal requirement and your responsibility. The food was excellent. Thank you.

To ensure guest safety, we check all allergies during ordering, even if guests have informed us at the time of booking. Since we change the menu daily, we ask the chefs to "customise" it for every requirement to guarantee information is correct. It was not our intention to spoil your experience with us, I'm sorry if this is how you felt. David

    While I had done my research, I was a little apprehensive since I had not even walked past this restaurant before and I wanted everything to be perfect for a special meal for my husband. I need not have been anxious, it was a lovely evening, staff were welcoming and helpful and food was perfect! Thank you, it is a pleasure to recommend you at Kindling.

    Kindling is our favourite Brighton restaurant at the moment the food is delicious the attention to flavours is like no other! We eat out at least once or twice a week and we keep being drawn back time and time again to Kindling. The food is amazing. such a high standard. The pork chop is like no other I've ever tasted. They use locally sourced and foraged ingredients and you just don't get these flavours anywhere else. The staff are also incredibly knowledgeable about the produce, where its come from and how its been cooked. The cocktails and mocktails are also a must try. Totally recommend you try it out.

    Open kitchen producing delicious and seasonal food, with a menu which changes frequently. The staff are relaxed but provide highly informative service, which is very assured. Some real flair in the kitchen. One to come back too.

    Very warm welcome on arrival. The restaurant was quiet due to being a Sunday. We chose the tasting menu which was expensive but absolutely delicious. Thank you for a lovely evening. 😃🥂

    We enjoyed are visit for lunch and the food was very good but I'm not sure that we would return as the meal for 2 of us with a glass of wine was over £100. I would recommend a visit, but with so many great options in Brighton, I'm just not sure that it is great value for money.

    Great atmosphere, attentive service with staff who knew all about the menu and drinks. The food was incredible and reasonably priced. A really great experience all round. Would highly recommend.

    Just ok. No punchy flavours, nothing that we thought of as wow. With so many great restaurants in Brighton, I’m not sure I’d need to go back. Bit underwhelming including the service. I had been aiming to come here for a while so a bit disappointed.

    We really enjoyed our meal. The food was clearly fresh, beautifully cooked and attractively served. The portions were ideal. The wine list was a little more expensive than we'd imagined but the selection was excellent. Very comfortable surroundings too.

    Very limited menu and although I chose well with fish my friend got a plate of raw cauliflower. She hates nuts and 3/4 of menu had nuts. My fish was delicious but expensive and doubt we will return sorry. Service was excellent

    Fantastic meal again at Kindling for my wife's birthday. Attentive staff, superb flavour and we can't wait to come back. The only minor criticism was that the Beetroot Gravadlax was a tad salty and in my opinion, the music doesn't quite match the ambience and cuisine style. Overall, one of Brighton's treasures.
