About this restaurant

Good for groups
Good for special occasions
Good for business meals

Hukilau was founded by three guys from Hawaii who were homesick for the local-style food they grew up on and the relaxed and festive island feel of places back in Hawai'i.

Kurt (Kapa'a, Kauai), Al (Ewa Beach, Oahu) and Eric (Hilo, Hawai'i) created the Hukilau and infused it with a taste of each of the three islands and the spirit of Aloha. Soon they were joined by Rodney Park, who added even more flavor.

At the Hukilau, you will be transported back to your favorite "plate-lunch" restaurant in small town Hawai'i, you will hear the strummings of live Hawaiian music like "uncle" used to play at family gatherings, and you will also be able to order tropical cocktails just like at the bars on Waikiki.

Shaka the musician was great. The service so slow, for 2 mixed cocktails. Poorly made, flat funerals and no hit of the tart calamansi at 15 dollars a piece🙀 Karagge calamari was ok. We left right after and had great pizza and awesome drinks at Brick Oven! Yum

We celebrated our anniversary there during the pop up and from service to food to drinks, it was amazing and authentic. I am hoping to go back before the pop up is over. #thatgood.

Food was so so. The menu was very limited, it didn't have standard Portuguese items such as vinda dos and paella. The service was very good and the restaurant itself was excellent.

On weekends this winter they convert to a Portuguese pop-up restaurant. Food was authentic and very well prepared. An excellent approach!

Food was delicious. Our server was friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable. Nice to have somewhere different for a meal. Will definitely go again and hope they will open a permanent location.

Was surprised to see the restaurant renovated. It appears to be a little darker and not a sports bar look. The menu option was smaller but my sandwich, the Italian, was very good. The menu stated "vinaigrette" but it was more of an aioli, which was really good. Our waitress was not the most pleasant person. When we asked a questions or wanted a take out dish, it was like we were bothering.

Food was very tasty but service was inadequate. Server couldn’t tell us what the dessert was that came with the mixed plate and didn’t even offer to check. Tried to take my friend’s plate away when she wasn’t finished. Some menu items have “MP” (market price) with an actual price ($16) next to the MP. So we thought the $16 was the MP for that day. Nope, it wasn’t. It was $24.
