   Food was either tasteless or super acidic to an insane degree. Even the bacon was bland. Service was okay but for the price definitely lacking. Ambience is really nice but the food and service are just sad. Maybe a good place for a drink at the bar but above all stay away from their fried tomatoes unless you like chemical burns with your morning coffee.

   We had a 10:45 reservation for lunch, we arrived at 10:45 on the dot and were seated right way. Our server did not approach us until 11:45 to ask for our drink order. She did not address our wait or even offer an apology. The restaurant was NOT overbooked and they were not short on help, as there were many employees visibly walking around. We had to ask for a server. Our food arrived somewhat room temperature with no taste at all. This restaurant came highly recommended. I would not recommend.

   The layout of the restaurant is beautiful. There's a bar area,an upstairs, and a main eating area. The food was just okay. I had the haymaker breakfast and my daughter had French toast. Both dishes were good but not great. Our glasses were not clean and our small plates were not clean. In spite of all that our servers were excellent and the ambiance was excellent.

   Server was new but it felt as if she wanted to get away from us as soon as possible. I was wondering if we somehow made her feel uncomfortable. Other than that I liked what the restaurant stood for…farm to table. The large plate selection was short but the chicken was delicious.

   Let me start by saying I am a classically trained with ten years of kitchen experience and am the CDC of a fine dining restaurant in Asheville, NC. I say that not to be pretentious or a jerk but so I will be taken seriously and not written off as a "know-nothing Karen". Almost all of the food was under-seasoned and some not seasoned at all (the creamed greens on the chicken entree), the portion sizes were small compared to the price (only the pork shank was a decent portion/price value; the charcuterie board was lacking in quality and the variety was poor, certainly not worth the price). The mac and cheese dish was topped with raw, untoasted panko. The pickle board was overly vinegar heavy (yes, I am aware that vinegar is a substantial part of the pickling process but there is a limit) and every pickle was flavored strongly with winter spices despite it being the middle of May. Our server was also not of the quality I'd expect from a restaurant where one easily spends $100 a head. He kept blatantly referencing the fact that he was using "sales tactics" (his words) on us which seemed uncouth at any establishment. He was also training a server (I found no problem with this) but he would leave us with her for 30-45 minutes at a time without checking in. This would not have been a problem except the trainee clearly was not at that point in her training and seemed very uncomfortable on top of not knowing how to handle basic serving situations. Overall, I felt the experience was not worth the money spent and unless things changed I (nor the two other members of my party) have no desire to return or recommend Haymaker to anyone. I am sorry to be so negative but there sere simply not many positives to our dining experience other than the food coming quickly.

    I was so excited to try this place and our service was less than ideal. My friend received the wrong order and our waitress didn’t offer to bring her what she actually ordered or price adjust for the more expensive entree that she didn’t order. We were also told they were out of the chicken dish and the table next to us ordered 30 minutes later and received the chicken. Disappointed in our overall experience

    Second time here and food is just OK. Had a burger this time and the salt content was out of this world. I couldn’t even finish it. We also got the mushroom pasta which had no flavor unfortunately. Would not go back.

    Good experience waiter was extremely friendly. Outside of a drunk woman being continuously served drinks at the bar at 1pm and her elevated voice we had a nice brunch.

    The seating method for Mother’s Day brunch was not handled well. For a 2pm seating there were probably 30 people waiting in the bar area to be seated. I’m sure they were doing set 2 hour serving blocks but to have a line like that while the restaurant was empty seemed unnecessary. The food came across as prepared well in advance and kept warm. Our waiter was accommodating and did well to keep up with a rush of people being seated at the same time. Overall it was kind of a meh experience and I doubt we will return for a follow up visit.

    The host seemed to be having a really hard morning yesterday on Mother’s Day- he was super abrupt when we checked in and acted like we were an inconvenience. The way you all staggered the seating from a customer perspective was not great… we arrived 30 min early which was fine, and we anticipated waiting, but it was never communicated that you all were seating everyone at 12. Lots of empty tables and a very crowded bar area left me feeling frustrated until I asked the question of the female hostess- and she graciously explained how you all were seating. A little explanation would have gone a long way. Several parties standing around were also grumbling about having to wait while so many open tables were around. I would have loved to sit at a table for 30 minutes, had a drink or two with my family and some snacks…then ordered at 12 when y’all were ready. Just some slight tweaks could have made the experience far better.

    We went there for Mother’s Day brunch and it was a really poor experience. In particular, the quiche my husband ordered was laughable in size and simply inedible. The food was clearly prepared ahead of time but it still took forever. We were pretty bummed.

    It was so disappointing; I don't know where to start. We had reservations at 10 am for the Mother's Day brunch. The restaurant was fully booked. We entered the restaurant as the door was unlocked. There was no greeting or welcome to the 30+ people standing outside the door waiting for them to unlock it. We were immediately seated as we entered. There were filled water glasses at the table so waited patiently for the waitress to come take our drink order. My daughter ordered a cappuccino and I a latte. Our drinks were not brought to us until 10:45 and they were luke warm at best. We were served the bread course of delicious hot beignets and cold biscuits at about 11:00 am. Our main entrees were brought to us at 12:05 and they were overcooked. By this time the second round of people had arrived for their reservations. They were all crowded around our table as we attempted to eat. It was the most uncomfortable dining experience I have ever experienced. I understand they were understaffed but they were also completely unprepared for the number of reservations for the morning. I would describe the brunch as a complete restaurant management failure! The workers were doing their best but no way should a price fixed brunch take 2.5 hours.

    The NC shrimp appetizer was INCREDIBLE. Be sure to ask for a side of bread because you want to get every bit of the sauce. Salmon entree was beautifully cooked with perfectly crisped skin. My husband got the chicken, which was a bit on the smoky side for his taste but was accompanied by fantastic creamed greens. All in all, a great food, great cocktails, and great service!

    Other than being a little loud, TheHaymaker is a top destination before a show. Service is good, food is great, atmosphere is inviting. Never had a bad experience. Always look forward to going back.

    Food was decent at best, lacked flavor. Somehow managed to overcook a fried chicken sandwich. Service was good, however. Downstairs ambience is very nice, upstairs is lacking the same vibe. Try to get seated downstairs if you go.

    Beautiful restaurant with great food! Service was very good as well. The main drawback is parking. It cost $14.00 to park in the surface lot adjacent to the establishment with no validation assistance from the restaurant.

    We went as a group of six with varied food tastes, and our server was able to recommend food and drinks that everyone was happy with. Great vibe - food and drinks were excellent. Our server was really good too - I think they got busier than planned because service dropped off at the end - but these things happen.

    The shrimp and grits was amazing. But that’s all. The service was slow and terrible. The water was not cold. We were sat upstairs in the very back in a corner and was practically ignored. A manager came to speak with another table and when I said “excuse me” he slow walked and looked at me from the side. Did not speak or anything. I asked for straws and he shook his head. I will never return and I’m sure the don’t care.

    The menu was incredible. The birthday girl was super happy. As a vegan, I didn't have quite as many options, but I did enjoy the salad and the oatmilk espresso martini! Hoping for more dairy free options here, we will come back. Our server and bartender were both awesome!
