A shadow of its former self with average steaks and poor service. I booked a table on a Sunday evening for 7 people including 3 children aged 8 - 11. We were seated on a large booth in the centre of the art deco style restaurant, which was full and noisy, however the noise wasn’t an issue for us. The problems started when we ordered drinks - the wine came in good time but the 4 in our party that ordered soft drinks didn’t receive them until after the starters. The starters (pork belly, carpaccio and bone marrow) were good but all of the dishes were literally flung on the table by the servers. Each of our party ordered steaks for main - a mixture of rib eyes and fillets to be cooked either medium or medium rare. The first thing I noticed when the steaks arrived (having managed to dodge the flying plates) was the lack of crusting on the surface - an issue that was replicated on the underside. In addition, the steaks were either over or undercooked. We had a decent sample size having ordered 4 fillet steaks to be cooked medium which actually ranged from rare to medium well. The meat itself was ok but certainly didn’t have the wow factor I remember from Hawksmoor. The sides however were very good - we ordered the creamed spinach, mac and cheese, beef dripping fries and chips and some greens, which were all excellent. However, we didn’t go to Hawksmoor for side dishes - the steaks were a huge disappointment. Overall, it was a really poor experience. I can only imagine the restaurant has too many covers and/or not enough kitchen staff, while those working there that we came across were either very inexperienced or didn’t care. The biggest disappointment by far though was the steak. The owners may well be going for quantity over quality because it delivers them the highest return (who can blame them - I would probably do the same!) and it does appear to be working because the restaurant was full, however, based on our experience, it definitely shouldn’t be.

We arrived for Sunday lunch at 4.50pm . The menu said “we cannot guarantee Sunday lunch after 5pm” . First thing the server said was “there is no Sunday lunch left” . I replied but it say in the menu it’s guaranteed before 5pm. To which she said we don’t guarantee! What a play on words, I thought that if you can’t guarantee after 5pm then that implies you do before 5pm … obviously not! The steak was good when it finally arrived 40mins later. You also had pay for everything, £6 for chips, £4 for sauce. Service charges are also added onto the bill , so beware. Overall disappointing. I would expert better for the price paid.

There were too much noise, portion are small for the price that you pay. It is quite expensive for the food served, although meet was delicious. I don’t think I will come back to this one, maybe the other if are smaller and more quite.

Overall it was lovely but given the price of the Sunday roast it wasn’t anything special at all! The gravy was nice but lacked seasoning beef was very average. Potato’s not good enough. It wasn’t piping hot.

Came for the steak, it was disappointing. 300gm fillet. Overcooked on the outside, fine inside but a bit chewy. Way too salty. Staff were great. Dessert was great. Cheesecake.

Having booked this for our 10 year wedding anniversary a few months ago, we had been really looking forward to eating here. Having been sat under the air con, which was blowing quite hard we asked for the air con to be turned off. We were told other diners had requested the same. It is late November and freezing, not the middle of summer. We then moved as the air con was still on. Even though we moved tables, it was still freezing. I had to wear my coat to eat my meal. Other diners also had their coats on. When your diners have their coats on, while eating their meals, the manager should have turned the air con off. My food was cold almost instantly and my fingers were frozen. For this reason we did not stay for pudding. I was thoroughly disappointed.

A great venue with charm and warmth. Amazing food! The steak was cooked to perfection and I loved the cherry negroni. We had fantastic service making it all in all a fabulous experience. Will definitely come again

We celebrated our parents 50th wedding anniversary here with a pre-theatre express menu and had a wonderful time. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The food was incredibly and fantastic value. Everyone had a lovely time

Food was incredible as always, very friendly staff and polite. The only disappointment was that it was my husband’s birthday and I had mentioned it in the email and on arrival, but we never received anything special for it, we could see other people around who had their birthday treat, so was waiting for ours and nothing. I even ordered dessert hoping that it comes with a candle and a message and unfortunately it did not.

We were slightly late arriving, the lady at the entrance was very polite and understanding. Went upstairs to the bar to wait for my partner arriving, and was greeted with a glass of water. Then was seated and greeted by the lovely Kamil, who was so kind and patient throughout, and was always smiling. We were also given complimentary wine for my partner's birthday. The food was amazing, vibe was 10/10. We will definitely be returning. Thank you!

Busy Thursday lunch - food was good, Oysters were a bit small for my liking. Steaks were good, mine a little over-cooked for what was requested but very tasty The creamed spinach had too much nutmeg in andsundies were expensive for what is served. Overall good, staff helpful but I think they could do with a consistent staff dress/uniform code; some staff really looked a bit untidy.

Took my wife here for her birthday and had a great experience. Food was delicious, staff were great and they even put a candle on her dessert and wished her happy birthday which was a nice touch. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would definitely recommend anyone to come.

A yearly get together with my sister in London. This is one of our favourite restaurants to visit. The express menu, is exceptional good value for money! The starters were fantastic! The steak is delicious! We can’t wait for our next visit!

My First time visit to this Hawksmoor - the layout was a little confusing on entry as it wasnt entirely clear where we needed to go to check in, we got there in the end though. We were a little early so were seated in the bar and provided with some water whilst we waited. On being shown to our table the service was prompt and friendly - the food was fantastic, one of the best roast dinners I've had in a long time. My only slight criticism would be that it was a little too noisy for me - but that was more due to the lively clientele than anything else! I'd probably go back to the city Hawksmoor at a weekend, for a quieter experience. Overall highly recommended!

An overall excellent experience. Very happy to see you back following all the recent challenges. Superb food, a brilliant team and a wonderful atmosphere. The vibe created by the team seems to spread to the customers to create a really enjoyable atmosphere. Our lead server (sorry didn’t catch her name - she was wearing a green dress) was outstanding. As far as we are concerned the Hawksmoor in Air Street is best in class.

The food was excellent and service good. Not surprisingly on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was noisy, so, being older than the average clientele, it was tricky for some members of the party to hear each other speak.

Buzzy and lively atmosphere. Love the decor. Had fab round table for 8 of us. Service was very polite and efficient. Slightly disappointed with the quality of the steaks but the sides were tasty. Great cocktails and wine. Bar area also fun to sit in after we had to leave our table.

As ever great food and service which is why I got there. The restaurant was packed (Fri night) and so more noisy than usual and good took much longer than it usually does. But still a great steak experience.
