Wonderful food and service. Menu is small but everything sounded delicious and what we had was delicious. Very knowledgeable server about the menu and also the extensive bourbon list.

Fabulous restaurant all around. Gazpacho was fresh and tasty, flatbread appetizer was inventive and yummy with a generous but appropriate dose of mustard, and the lightly breaded catfish was more delicate and flaky than I thought possible. Best of all was the sorghum custard with fruit and pretzels--so imaginative! The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgable, but very friendly. The ambiance in the historic housing the restaurant was just right. Clearly the best restaurant we sampled during our three days in Bardstown, but would be a top restaurant anywhere. Well done.

Excellent Kentucky inspired food and beverages. House Cocktail is innovative and refreshing. Catfish and grits was imaginatively prepared and full flavored. Service was thorough, with appreciated explanation of the menu. Overall excellent balance of presentation, flavor, and portion size. The house, located on the courthouse square, is beautifully situated and provides a unique dining environment. I look forward to dining al fresco in the autumn.

Booked for 8:30 on a Wednesday night. Got a call from the restaurant to confirm. I suspect they did not want to keep the kitchen open on a slow evening if we weren't going to show up. However we received full and attentive service with the meals prepared to our specifications.

My wife and I were on a belated honeymoon. We away and our waiter was very good. He explained the specials and answered all questions plus made suggestions on appetizers. The food was amazing. There was so much we could not eat it all. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I accompanied a party of 8 friends to the Harrison-Smith House recently. The menu was interesting but limited. Understand that the small menu represents their attempt to make everything from scratch. The only salad choice featured ranch dressing already tossed on the large chopped salad. Lots of chick peas and little flavor. Steaks were good and catfish nicely prepared. Appetizers small. I would go back but would ask to be seated elsewhere as the room was so loud we couldn't hear the waiter or ourselves talk. I appreciated one of the chefs asking our opinion obviously cares to be the best possible.

I have now been to this restaurant several times and I have to say that each time has been an improvement on the last. The service this time with Charles was excellent and the other staff were equally fine. The physical facility has its limits, but strictly on food and service it continues to improve.

My wife and I celebrated her birthday here, and we highly recommend it for people who are serious about interesting and well-executed food, a calming atmosphere, and exquisitely attentive and thoughtful service. Appetizers had mixed results: The chicken livers were super crunchy and tasty, if a tiny bit overcooked. The grilled romaine was a great idea but needed more of a Caesar-y bite in the dressing. We thoroughly enjoyed our entrée choices: a perfectly-cooked-medium ribeye with potatoes au gratin and cold carrot salad; and the local marinated-then-grilled pork chops with spaetzle and roasted broccoli. The dinner rolls are unique and delicious -- almost a cross between a great buttery biscuit and a pillowy soft yeast roll. Addictive. Service was unmatched on every front, from the initial greeting, to our server, to the chef himself coming out to talk to us (one of us has food allergies)! We felt perfectly taken care of and will definitely go back time and time again. We highly recommend you try it out, too!

Food was superb. Four in our party. Three of us purchased smoked-fried chicken. Best bread pudding served in a warm skillet. Yeast rolls excellent! Service was great. Bourbon drinks were perfect. Overall dining experience very good.

We were quite pleased with the cuisine and service. The cuisine was less chef-driven and more regionally-specific than we'd anticipated, but the chef cooks with a high level of precision nonetheless. There was a misunderstanding with the preparation of one of the dishes that we ordered, yet the situation was handled with grace. Service--from both our server and the manager--was polished and affable.
