Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.
What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
Fantastic food in a great place with great service
We absolutely loved the girl & the goat!!! Can’t say enough about our experience at the chef’s table for our 1 year wedding anniversary
Awesome across the board. The food is fantastic and our service was even better.
Brought our whole family and young foodie who wanted to experience Chef Izard’s talents! He loved the whole experience and was very inspired...not to ment
Great food. Great service with Elaine! They treated us so well for our anniversary meal and even made me a mocktail since I’m pregnant! This is not a good place for a date, though. It’s so loud, my husband and I could barely talk to each other without having to yell every now and then and the tables were so close together. We were having to apologize in case we fell into someone’s lap trying to get in and out. This would probably be a great place for a double date or girls night though. I enjoyed the lamb skewer and the green beans the most.
Amazing!!! Food and service is over the top
Food was amazing! We ended up getting the chef's table which is right by the kitchen because someone cancelled. It's definitely great for foodies and lovers of chefs. If you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen. Loved all the dishes we ordered and waitress was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Best experience and I got to meet Stephanie Izard that night! Very special evening.
Awesome food, awesome atmosphere...will be back. Much better going to a small, quaint restaurant for dinner as opposed to the one of the larger restaurants where you have to yell at your guest across the table. Keep up the great work.
The waiter was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. The food was, of course, incredible, even with our very high expectations.
One of my best food experiences of my life. I will definetely back again
Absolutely delicious meal. The names of each dish may make you question ordering them, but do get out your comfort zone and try them all. The Duck Tongue was THE BEST; highly recommend!
Absolutely fantastic! Amazing food, great service, laid back environment. This is a must visit!
Awesome staff was great food was great and although small portions I was full because of the way they paced the entrees.
The service cues were on POINT. Einstein was charming and knowledgeable. I’m telling anyone who will listen.
Amazing food, the goat selections you really can’t go wrong. The music was loud but played better music than any any radio stations and price was expected.
Great food, fabulous dessert, sponge cake, forget the name of dessert but absolutely delicious.
Wonderful experience! Food was delicious, staff was fabulous and overall my date night was amazing. I have one complaint, sorry. My dirty martini was served warm and it was disgusting. I was very surprised because this is a pretty standard drink and a good martini is easy.
Delicious and creative
We were rushed through dinner and it felt like each table was planned to be turned around within no time, so that more customers could be served in any given night. The food was nice, but the atmosphere should be way more relaxed. Not a place to celebrate an anniversary, but good for a quick 'in and out'.
Amazing, flavorful dishes with attention to detail! The green beans, crisp braised pork shank, marinated lamb skewers and the pork, goat, and beef sugo are a must! We have a child with food allergies and all the staff were extremely attentive…our server Lauren had an allergy menu waiting for us when we sat down and all the staff confirmed the dishes that had been modified without her allergens. Big thanks to both Lauren and Julie, the Manager, who were both amazing and immensely helpful prior to and during our meal! Wonderful overall experience!
My favorite restaurant in Chicago!!!
The food was innovative, fresh, delicious. The ambience is perfect still very relevant. This is a reliable and affordable go to night out in Chicago.
A great sharing meal. We had, in order: spring wheat bread, soft shell crab, cauliflower, duck tongues, goat empanadas, short ribs, and the caramel balls dessert. Everything was fantastic - my wife's favorite was the crab, and mine might have been the cauliflower and then maybe the short ribs. Service was also great, though I thought the meal came just a little too quickly for me, I would have loved maybe 1-2 minutes more between courses, but that's a small gripe.
Overall, for 2 people with no drinks we spent $135, so I would say the pricing was maybe a little higher than I would have expected, but I did think it was worth it at the end of it all because most everything was outstanding.
food was 10/10. best dinner Ever! WOW so amazing. totally recommend.
Food was delicious, service was great...we would definitely come back. We had many shareable dishes. Everything was fantastic.
Honestly, the service we received here was out of this world. I love their food.
Food was excellent but service felt forced and fake.
Food is amazing. Food is amazing. Food. is. amazing.
My only regret is that there are (delicious) changes to the menu & a dessert I was looking forward to having again wasn’t offered anymore. It meant trying another yummy dessert instead (poor me).
Artistry and culinary excellence with exceptional service. A well oiled culinary machine that operates at high efficiency. Trust the servers with their suggestions and serving order. Every dish was a lovely experience for the taste buds; you are aware of every ingredient in a dish as it dances elegantly with its cohorts. We we travel back just to experience the chef’s creations and to remind ourselves of how food can inspire and elicit an emotional response.
Excellent meal and service! We decided to eat at the bar and the staff was very helpful. Loved everything about the restaurant. Highly recommend!
We loved it! Our first time in Chicago too!
All the creations were amazing and so full of flavors!
While noisy, it has very well prepared food, knowledgeable staff and a solid menu for culinary adventure.
We sat at the chefs table next to the kitchen and were able to watch all the food being created. The wait staff was outstanding and they were very helpful when we informed them of dietary restrictions for my wife due to her pregnancy. We hope we can get a reservation again the next time we’re in town. Thanks for the great service Devon!
Restaurants often get over-hyped--not the case AT ALL with Girl it is easily one of the best dishes I've ever had!
Beware, though, that its quite noisy & would not be a great option for someone who is a bit hard of hearing or for an intimate dinner.
Every thing we tasted was delicious! Our server was very knowledgeable. This was our first visit and she did a great job of guiding us through the menu and making suggestions on quantities to order.
Spectacular food and drinks! Hostess was rude, but other than that everything was perfect!
We had a very late reservation, but were able to get in early and sit at the bar to watch the chefs. My husband loves to cook and enjoyed every minute. The experience was a bit off for me as his good came a bit late. Sharing of the dishes is expected, but I ordered scallops and my husband cannot eat shell fish. We would definitely go back should we return to Chicago. Loved the spices and sauces.
