Gare de l'Est
An authentic, modern French brasserie in the heart of Toronto’s vibrant east end, Gare de l’Est was named after one of the oldest and largest train terminals in Paris, France. Just steps away from Crow’s Theatre, it offers an extensive menu of traditional French fare and seasonal dishes with a focus on local ingredients.
While the actual space doesn’t offer a means of transportation, its loft-like ceilings, deep hued banquettes and crisp white table clothes, will carry your imagination to whatever destination you desire.

Great food, great service. Would definitely eat here again.
Gare de L'Est is a great hidden gem that are perfect for a weekend brunch. The location is not super convenient for us but we plan to try their dinner next!
Always our favourite for any celebration. The nicest staff I've ever met.
We were seated in a quiet secondary room (vs at the bar per the reservation on Open Table) which was great. Our server, Mike, was very engaging and helpful. The service from everyone we encountered was excellent. Mike made a wonderful special cocktail for us and was helpful and attentive through the entire meal. Food was also excellent - oysters, as well as Mussels Frites and duck breast - all delicious and served promptly. Will definitely go again - wonderful east end dining experience.
Excellent food and service and ambiance. Will return.
Great service and food! Location is great and the brunch menu is different from what most places have to offer
Lovely brunch, great service - will very likely be one of my go to Saturday brunch spots!
Really delicious, special and romantic
Tout était super bon, je recommande mille fois ce resto ! De l'entrée au dessert nous nous sommes régalés !
My Canadian friends raved about this restaurant so I decided to take them out there, and I was not disappointed. Food and service were excellent. A bit pricey though.
Always lovely service and delicious food!
Great spot for brunch. Lovely patio! Will definitely return
Great food and outstanding service. A good neighbourhood restaurant with a large patio.
The staff are particularly good, thank you very much
Great food and excellent service. The duck was amazing.
Overpriced... a dozen of oysters are $48! my dinner for 2 ppl was almost $300, food was good but not $300 good
Always amazing. Great service.
Outstanding service, unique experience as they have an open kitchen, the kitchen operates like a well oiled machine. The food was fantastic, a great place to share a bunch of starters and order your own main! The menu is small and feels very well thought out using the freshest and most in season ingredients.
The food was great. The drinks were great. The service was wonderful. The ambience was amazing! We happened to go on a night with live music, which was a string quartet playing mainly contemporary music. Would definitely go again!
We had a lovely evening on the patio at Gare de L’Est. Prompt, friendly service and simply outstanding food. We started out with a green salad that was stunningly tasty. The duck breast was cooked perfectly, and the Parisian Gnocchi special was just that….very special indeed. We’ll be back!
Great, straightforward French bistro food done well. Every staff member was great to interact with, as well as extremely helpful. They accommodated an allergy easily, and made us mocktails on request that were truly divine!
Amazing service and the bartender is incredible!
Excellent service , prompt personal food was amazing - seems like everyone there cares for the customer
The whole experience was great. Our server, Kristen, was fantastic! The food was delicious, especially the charcuterie board, it was a real stand out. Great wine list, definitely something for everyone.
Excellent food, great ambience. The service was great.
It was ok. Way too expensive for something that wasn't really fantastic tasting.
It was disappointing to have food and coffee come to the table only warm. It really pointed out to me that detail in serving good food was not important to the chef
Good food and patio atmosphere, but on the pricier side.
First time in a restaurant in 18 months was a great experience for Jennifer's birthday. Server, all food and wine were excellent. We'll be back.
This is a Sunset Grill masquerading as a French Brasserie with inflated prices - actually, I would have enjoyed a Sunset grill more.
Amazing food and service! Covid protocols are also strict and in place- would come back again!
Everything was perfect in very way!
Wonderful meal! We enjoyed every course, as usual.
Overall experience was great. Will be heading back again.
Good food and excellent service - looking forward to going back again soon!
Amazing food and ambience! We enjoyed the live music as well.
Delicious dinner on the patio. Chef Deron and team prepare food to perfection. We had oysters, steak tartare, steak frites and ordered the mushrooms and breads to go with our mains. This place is still our favourite restaurant, since it opened. Love it!
I've been here a couple of times in the past and had a great experience. Unfortunately my recent trip wasn't much to be desired. For the price of the dishes it wasn't worth it. Charcuterie board had 2 small pieces of cheese and 4 small slices of duck. The terrine that comes with it had nuts it which wasn't addressed on the menu and my husband is allergic. $34 for a small piece of salmon that just tasted like butter and a side of peas and potatoes. The potatoes we're good, I will give it that. They also forgot about our order so waited almost an hour to eat, just put us off. The waitress and manager were very apologetic. Overall it was meh and I wouldn't come back.
