Our kitchen is helmed by South Bay native and chef extraordinaire, Chris Feldmeier, of Mozza and Moruno fame, alongside longtime Gabriele restaurant veteran, Jorge Torres. The bar takes shape with an awesome trifecta. Vincenzo Marianella, of Copa d’Oro and Providence, has created a cocktail program that features house crafted juices and ingredients as well as a wide variety of spirits. Sara and Adam have curated a wine list and beer program that shines with local offerings as well as Spanish and French that pair great with the menu and stand tall on their own.
Great meal! Squash was amazing.
Food is always amazing here, but my favorite is the Jalepeno Business cocktail
Read a couple of articles in the local paper and decided to try Gabi's. Nice place. Food was innovative and delicious. We will be back!
I am sorry to say but my experience with Gaby James was not a good one. There was hardly anyone there and that should have been the first red flag. Like I said no one was there and we were sat at a very small 2 top table, yes there were just the two of us but would have been nicer to have a bigger table not in a corner. We brought a bottle of wine and ordered two starters. The first was anchovies popcicle, which was good, very small (one bite), next was the Spanish tortilla....taste was bland but not terrible, kicker there was a hair in it and that ended trying more. Next we had a cheese dish that came out about 1 cup of cubed up cheese with some kind of dressing. Can't imagine eating the whole thing...also served just alone, no cracker or bread, just cubes of cheese. Next a shrimp dish which had 6 tiny shrimp in a garlic oil. Very little taste. Well we were still hungry but the though of eating more uninteresting, flavorless food was it. Got the check and went to another restaurant for the rest of our dinner. Our bill was $99 ($20 corkage for our wine, which is fine), but $79 for the rest is outrageous. No wonder one one was there.
2nd visit just as impressive as the first! We tried all different items this time - citrus and quince salad, duck confit, and the anchovy matrimonio - fantastic assortment of flavors! we also had a couple of gin martini's, selecting gins from an impressive menu. My ONLY knock is the demand on the bar is so great (apparently a community of lushes...), the 2nd cocktail arrived well after the time desired to accompany our remaining food.
Although we are local, it was our first time to Gabi James. The new interiors are brighter with a lighter feeling
and open to the outside. We enjoy spanish cuisine and we were not disappointed! The dates with manchego & marcona almonds were a great starter, which we will order again. We split the rack of lamb with pomegranite sauce. We are big lamb fans and it was perfectly cooked and just the right amount of sauce to compliment the lamb. We also are not fans of sweet sauces and really liked how this sauce was not overly sweet. We were also impressed by the wine list, which made us happy to be able to order one of our favorite bottles from Paso, which is very difficult to find. Thank you Adam for your hospitality and Angelica for perfect service!
We’ve been here a few times and have had a great experience each time. We order the tortilla espanola each time we go, so yummy!
It took 52 minutes get the first round of drinks once we were sat (and they forgot one of them). The waitress was extremely rude when we asked about the drinks after a half an hour. She then accused my husband of telling on her. We left after an hour and went to a different restaurant.
Food was delicious and creative! Jalapeño businessthe best cocktail ever. Angelica is a great waitress!!
A varied menu, spanish favorites and excellent service.
Food was very tasty, creative & well cooked. Our only complaint is that a few items, including the fries were a bit over salted. Service was great—my water glass was never empty. We’ll be back!
There are not many foody restaurants in the South Bay, so it's a tremendous treat when a place like Gabi James is in the area. I visit Spain a lot for work, and the ambiance, food, crafted drinks and wait staff reminded me very much of being in a trendy neighborhood eatery in Spain.
Been here a few times and tried the brunch this time. Sat outside in the warm sun and had yet another fabulous meal.
Food is excellent but a little pricy, great atmosphere.
I've been here on a number of occasions. Most recently our party of three enjoyed our various plates and drinks but the cost was astronomical. I think they discontinued their happy hour and thus one cannot hope for any value for money. It's just too expensive.
Another great meal! Our go to place in our neighborhood for small dishes.
Deliciously prepared food and nice ambiance. Great service too.
One of my favorite restaurants in the South Bay. Excellent for brunch. From the brunch menu, try the ugly drum hash (best pastrami ever), the eggs with merquez sausage or the French toast. You will be thrilled.
Went with friends, and it was so loud that conversation was difficult. The server was nice when we saw them, which wasn’t very frequent. My skirt steak and arugula salad were delicious. The menu is hard to understand as there appears to be a lot of appetizers and sides, if fewer main dishes. I think this may have been our misunderstanding, which should have been explained when we were seated. Overall, the food good, the ambiance good, location good and we will give Gabi James a second chance.
Overall experience was excellent. Not too crowded for Saturday brunch, and accommodated 1 late arrival of our party of 4. Cocktails were innovative and delicious. Ditto for the food. Our server knew all the details of the menu and expertly answered all questions. I had green, eggs, and ham, which was beautiful and tasty, with ample portions of asparagus and bacon to go with the perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs. The lemon vinaigrette really brought the arugula salad to life. I will definitely come back. Also want to sample the dinner menu.
The ambience was only average. Otherwise this would have been 5 stars
Not perfect, but very good overall - some dishes better than others, but the meat choices in particular (lamb chops, flank steak) were excellent. Seafood not up to that level. A bit pricey overall but reasonable for the area - we will be back and give some other things a try. Nice atmosphere and service.
Anniversary dinner. Excellent food, service.
Food was amazing, the best I’ve had in a while! Everything was so flavorful. Service was top notch, the owner was warm and friendly. Our server made excellent recommendations. The cocktails were just the way I like them, string yet smooth.
I can’t wait to go back!
We tried Gabi James for my son's birthday. It was his recommendation and it was a big hit with all six of us. We were really excited about trying a new Spanish restaurant. We like sharing dishes and this restaurant is perfect for sharing. My favorite small plate was tortilla Espanola and the potato croquettes were also delicious. My sister and I shared the pomegranate lamb chops, which were excellent. We also shared a side of grilled asparagus. We really liked the ambiance and the wait staff were friendly and helpful. In addition to the food, there were great wine selections. We live nearby and will definitely be back! There were so many appealing choices on the menu. Maybe brunch next time...
Food and Service was excellent. They specialize in gin so try one of their specialty drinks
Absolutely one of the very best service experiences ever! The entire team/staff was efficient, courteous, patient, informed and polite.
Fabulous food! Very different, tasty and creative!! Truly a gem (salad)!!
Sat on patio. Calming view of riviera village. Homemade bread and toast-amazing turkey meatballs were excellent too
Great service and the food was really refreshingly different.
Great design and felt welcomed
Have dined here twice now and thought the service and creatively crafted menu is excellent. Love the atmosphere; it's very cozy but lively and festive at the same time. Great for people watching.
Started with the Anchovies and Serrano Ham. Anchovies were insanely salty and there were far too many of them. Ham was excellent but dry needed tomato and cheese to cut it.
Had the oxtail ragu for mains and the lamb chops - both absolutely delicious.
First time dining here and it was excellent! Love the space, the rib eye. wine list and service! Already made my next reservation:)
We’ve been to this place in the evenings and always found it to be quality and consistent. We wanted to try brunch as recommended by friends. The food was superb. We had a glitch with the orange juice which had fermented. The bar indicated that it was a newly opened batch but it proved to have turned. We didn’t want another one after souring in the first. I think that offering another beverage on the house would have been appropriate. Furthermore another party had the same issue after ours. It made us wonder why the staff didn’t address it before the customer noticed?
Great food. Service was a tad slow but the restaurant was packed.
A sharing experience. The dishes are meant to be shared, so if you each order an entree, they may not come out at the same time. The food was good and some unusal items to try on the menu.
Good food, slow service
Gabi James has it all, great bar & mixologist, wonderful snacks and one of the best filets I have ever enjoyed. Great for sharing plates. Don’t forget to enjoy the gin menu!
Can’t wait to return again
We Met my friends from Cannes and they were delighted with the food
Gourmet all the way but not weird concoctions
The food was a bit pricey but not out of the ordinary for a nice restaurant. Our waiter was excellent, and paced the appetizers, salad and main course correctly. He brought out an extremely delicious crème brulee for my friend's birthday, and they comped it. I've been told it is normally very busy, but we went on a Tuesday night, and it was quiet, which was perfect. Great lighting, good ambiance.
Girlfriends went out for drinks. Forgot the World Series was on that night. The bar area was loud.
