Our menu was created by South Bay native and chef extraordinaire, Chris Feldmeier, of Mozza and Moruno fame, alongside longtime Gabriele restaurant veteran, Jorge Torres. The bar takes shape with an awesome trifecta. Vincenzo Marianella, of Copa d’Oro and Providence, has created a cocktail program that features house crafted juices and ingredients as well as a wide variety of spirits. Sara and Adam have curated a wine list and beer program that shines with local offerings as well as Spanish and French that pair great with the menu and stand tall on their own.
Fabulous food - every single dish was outstanding. We ordered several small plates including the turkey meatballs, lamb sausage, shrimp and chopped salad. Also ordered the whole fish and the oxtail pasta. Our cocktails were great, too. Service was excellent - the owner brought us our drinks and was friendly and helpful. Our waitress Masha was lovely and efficient too. The restaurant was very alive and a bit noisy for us, but we find that to be true in many places these days.
Party for 6 was too much for them. Reservations 3 weeks in advance was not enough to get a good table.
Arrived at 6:59 on a Saturday for our 7pm reservation. They scrambled to pull two tables together RIGHT BY THE FRONT DOOR and ADJACENT TO THE BAR. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu, very helpful in ordering, and friendly. We ordered a few small plates to share, and we each ordered a large plate (eg, main course). The mains all arrived at DIFFERENT times. Food was very good. Our proximity to the door and bar was very annoying, as people kept coming into the restaurant, and standing right against our table guests (eg bumping them in the back). The noise level was very high. Overall disappointed with the evening, even though the food and server were good. Previous brunch experience was not like this, so may give it another try on a different night.
Very personal staff and some amazing crafted drinks- try Jalapeno business, very refreshing! Salad was good, Turkey meatballs a must
Food was fantastic, particularly the Polpo & Papas. I have a soft spot for well prepared octopus and this was up there with some of the best I’ve had. The paella was nicely done if a bit over priced, but to their credit, it was packed with sea food as opposed to a mussel or two. The Jamon Serrano and bread combo as suggested by our waitress was great. I’ll generally have Jamon by itself but the bread and garlic oil was a great combination. Definitely will come back
Why did they stop carrying Hanger 1 Vodka?? That was the best they carried!
As always, fantastic service and neighborhood atmosphere. Really enjoyed exploring the craft gins.
Great place! Gin and tonic menu was awesome and we basically went on server’s recommendations and were not disappointed.
Everything was perfect! I can’t wait to go back!
Great food--fun place. Very diverse menu and great wine list.
The food here is always amazing. Great for sharing! We’ve had the same server a couple times and she is always amazing!
Waiter was great. Food was yummy but a bit pricey
Great restaurant with excellent food and service.
A very good reimagining of the former Zazou space. Love the gin bar and tapas concept mix
We loved the food, it was excellent! A little bit of wait time to be seated but the service was very good in general.
We will go back to try more dishes!!!
Have had the pleasure to eat at Gabi James for the second time on 2/14 and everything was even better the second time. Great service with spectacular food in a very aesthetically pleasing ambiance.
This place was great. Went here for Valentine’s Day. None of the usual Valentine’s Day nonesense. Just a great evening of delicious food, great service, and wonderful ambiance. I will be back!
Food was unique and amazing. Looking forward to trying out brunch on the outdoor patio..
The fried dates are amazing. The merguez is excellent. The service was attentive without being intrusive.
The brunch cocktail was really good. The Pan con Tomatoes with Manchego was delicious. I would definitely recommend the tortilla.
This restaurant continues the family tradition of excellent dining. Staff personable and efficient. Good creative, colorful and delicious. Room is beautiful and outdoor patio has heaters. Can be a bit noisy but noise level generates positive energy and reflects patrons' enjoyment.
Celebrated b-day. Enjoyed the food and ambiance. Would dine there again!
Not just a meal - an amazing EXPERIENCE! I will be eating at Gabi James every time I make it back to Redondo Beach. Interesting, exciting, and delicious...plus fantastic service! I was already very happy with the textural bliss of their Spanish tortilla and Octopus, when I tasted the All Day Oxtail Ragu...and I've been dreaming about it ever since. It's THAT good. Must try. One of the best dishes I have ever eaten.
And they have great drinks! In between eating my food, the owner, Adam, and my servers helped educate me about their Sherry and Vermouth selection, as well as the largest gin and tonic selection I've ever seen in one place. How awesome. My only regret is that I didn't take more photos to share. Can't wait to go back and fix that!
The service was fabulous and we loved the decor! Definitely recommend to a friend!
Fun and mellow restaurant. Great variety of drinks from the bar. Food is a bit on the pricey side but the quality is worth it.
Great Gin selection and exceptional food. Quiet neighborhood!
First time at this restaurant after it changed. The lamb burger and the chopped salad were excellent. Was not too crowded on a Sunday night and the service was very good.
We had a great dinner. The service was excellent as was the food. The timing of the server was impeccable, she knew exactly how attentive to be and never interrupted us.
We went with our good friends for a special occasion. We experienced multiple things that led to a very poor dining experience. First off we were sat for our 7pm reservations and ordered drinks. It literally took 25 minutes to get them and the entire time the waitress was coming back over and over asking us if we wanted to order food. We kindly said please bring our drinks first. When they finally did we ordered 3 appetizers, the meatballs, croquettes and Spanish tortilla, all were tasty. Then we ordered a second round or drinks and it took 15 minutes to get those. Each time they would apologize but it was still quite frustrating. Then we all ordered an entree. 2 orders of the skirt steak, one of the lamb chops and one paella. First my skirt came out, my wife’s lamb came about 7 minutes later, my friends skirt steak came 10 minutes after that. So now finally the owner comes over and says something went wrong with the paella and it would take 20 minutes to make so he should order something different. What a bummer. So he orders the skirt steak and we continue with our night, ordered more drinks, etc. BTW the waitress was as sweet as can be and apologized a million times. So did the owner and of course we were waiting to see what they would do to accommodate for all of the issues. They took off the two inexpensive $10 apps. Bottom line we dropped about $370 and they took off a whopping $20 bucks ! That should of just been for the horrible wait time. They should have comped the entree that was not even what we wanted but had to have. It really adds insult to injury to spend so much and have a night like that.
We went for my wife's birthday. everything was great, food, wine, service. I had the Filet and we tried a bunch of small plates. Everything was delicious.
They also have Pappy Van Winkle if you feel like treating yourself.
Such amazing food !!oxtail divine. Dates so great . Squash do much flavor
We absolutely loved the restaurant. We have dined with these owners before when it was Zazou and they don’t disappoint. The food was excellent — we had a pasta dish that was their version of paella and the turkey meatballs, excellent.
As is typical, it was a busy Saturday. The service was outstanding as well as the food. We shared a Caesar salad, a meatball appetizer and split the flatiron steak. You can't pass up the pomme frites. Might have been the star of the meal. The timing was perfect and all had great flavor. Well done.
It’s was absolutely AMAZING!
Great meal! Squash was amazing.
Food is always amazing here, but my favorite is the Jalepeno Business cocktail
Read a couple of articles in the local paper and decided to try Gabi's. Nice place. Food was innovative and delicious. We will be back!
I am sorry to say but my experience with Gaby James was not a good one. There was hardly anyone there and that should have been the first red flag. Like I said no one was there and we were sat at a very small 2 top table, yes there were just the two of us but would have been nicer to have a bigger table not in a corner. We brought a bottle of wine and ordered two starters. The first was anchovies popcicle, which was good, very small (one bite), next was the Spanish tortilla....taste was bland but not terrible, kicker there was a hair in it and that ended trying more. Next we had a cheese dish that came out about 1 cup of cubed up cheese with some kind of dressing. Can't imagine eating the whole thing...also served just alone, no cracker or bread, just cubes of cheese. Next a shrimp dish which had 6 tiny shrimp in a garlic oil. Very little taste. Well we were still hungry but the though of eating more uninteresting, flavorless food was it. Got the check and went to another restaurant for the rest of our dinner. Our bill was $99 ($20 corkage for our wine, which is fine), but $79 for the rest is outrageous. No wonder one one was there.
2nd visit just as impressive as the first! We tried all different items this time - citrus and quince salad, duck confit, and the anchovy matrimonio - fantastic assortment of flavors! we also had a couple of gin martini's, selecting gins from an impressive menu. My ONLY knock is the demand on the bar is so great (apparently a community of lushes...), the 2nd cocktail arrived well after the time desired to accompany our remaining food.
