Very busy. We made a reservation which was definitely needed. Unfortunately it seems like they cater more to big parties. We were a two too and we’re squeezed in between two tables so close I could barely get by them the sit. We were basically sitting with them. We couldn’t have a conversation. Food was great. Our server wasn’t the best. Didn’t come back often or ever ask if we wanted more cocktails (we did). So they lost out on that. It just seemed to take forever and we got very little attention.

Service and food itself was fine. The seating was a mess with too many people crammed into a small space waiting for a table. Felt like I was at a Cheesecake Factory. Worst part (and I’ve never experienced this before at a restaurant) they informed everyone at their tables that it was closing time by turning all the lights way up and turning off the music. Felt like I was at a club. I looked around and there were still plenty of tables seated. No mention from the server that it was closing time, etc. Just not a good look. Honestly, there’s just too many options in the city to think this should be normalized. I’ll pass next time.

We were seated within 5 minutes. Server appeared promptly and took good care of us. Only problem was the prime rib. It was ordered medium rare, but came well-done. It was quickly replaced with the item as ordered. The cut of meat was much thinner than normal, little more than 1/3 of an inch or so. The spatchcocked chicken was excellent.

First time here and it was just what we were looking for... delish, varied menu, friendly service, happy vibe! We even got a corner table a little removed from crowd, as requested. Glad we made Sunday lunch reservations and brunch was still offered until 2. Loved the beignets, the avocado toast, tomato soup, blueberry French toast!!

This was our first time to the DC Founding Farmers. We've eaten at their other locations, it is always good. There is a lot of food for the price, and the brunch menu is good. Highly recommend the beignets to share with the table. We had a reservation for Sunday morning, got there about 5 mins early and went right to our table. Wait times for those without a reservation was about an hour and twenty minutes. Even as busy as it was, food came out quickly and we didn't feel rushed to eat, pay and leave.

The food was inconsistent. We got dates as an appetizer and they were not warm. We both got Chesapeake catfish for an entree and the fish was quite good. However, my companion’s green beans were very salty and mine were not salted enough. Some of the food was hot and other items were lukewarm. The service was good overall. The chocolates were awesome. I think this restaurant has potential but the inconsistencies are problematic. I would note that the restaurant was very busy.

Don’t dine outside, coffee got cold because it was freezing outside. Heat lamps did not provide enough warmth. Good got cold real quick. Coffee was never refilled to even warm up. They should be better when seating outside to know these things. Bad 1st experience at this place

Overpriced food with poor quality. Chicken and waffles was too heavily breaded and still dried out. Prime rib ordered rare came out medium. Filets were okay, but poorly seasoned. Kale salad tasted like salt and not much else. caesar salad was flavorless, yet somehow the croutons were soggy.

It helps to reserve ahead of time if you want to sit indoors. We let the waiter know we were a little pressed time-wise to make a concert and he had us imbibing and chowing down lickety-split. No attitude. Friendly and attentive with none of that "Hello I'm Henry the Third and I'll be your server tonight" spiel that makes my skin crawl." I'll definitely be back to try more dishes. I had the soup of the day --chicken-- kale salad with radishes, both were excellent, and my dining companion had those ravioli things the size of perogi --plenty tasty too.

20 minute wait even with a reservation. Waited another 10 mins after being seated for anyone to greet us and bring water. Waiter was very friendly but too busy so we were left unattended, without water refills, etc. for extended periods of time. Menu tries to offer too many different choices- giving then overall “Chilis” feel. Prices were excessive- small size salad to accompany entree for $12. Felt like a tourist trap Rather than the unique farm to table experience I recalled from a few years ago.

Founding Farmers - DCResponded 3 days agoThank you for your review. I am very sorry we sat you late for your reservation and it took an additional 10 minutes to be greeted. It seems we also failed to show you the value of our food. I would love to connect and turn this around. Please email me at Hospitality@FRG.farm with a copy of your review, date dined, and location. Sat outside. Tables were dirty and sticky. Menus were sticky. Had passer by on the side walk stop and verbally threaten several of the restaurant guests with a knife because they were eating meat. After threatening several customers at their tables the passer by left. The restaurant did nothing about it. Didn’t apologize or even offer a meal comp. Food was disappointing.

Food came cold, fish was not fresh, and half a chicken was tiny. The chicken was the size of a quail, about 3 bites. The beer was good and the green beans were fine except for being room temperature, like the mashed potatoes.

The atmosphere was overcrowded, noisy and unpleasant. People crowding the entryway and backed up to our table. They must book way too many reservations. My children and I dined at this restaurant last night. We were on vacation and saw that the restaurant had good reviews. My daughter ordered a milkshake and when I poured it into a to-go cup, this plastic bag fell out. We still do not know for certain what the contents were. The Manager explained that they believe it was chocolate. Not sure why it would be in a ziploc bag and how it ended up in my daughters drink. We were completely grossed out and sick over this experience. My daughter is traumatized! I decided to share this to make others aware of our experience. This restaurant is suppose to be one of DC’s best.
