Estia is our go-to place for pre-theater dinner at if we are going to AoM etc. The $40 pre theater menu is excellent value, although there are several upcharges (e.g. for octopus - well worth it!). Good reasonably priced cocktails. Estia sometimes gets very noisy, so if you want an intimate, romantic dinner, you may want to choose elsewhere.

My daughter and I traveled to Philadelphia from Mass. to take in the Harry Potter exhibit and other sites of interest in the city. We wanted our second night dinner to be something special and it sure was! We had the Theater Menu at Estia and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Our waiter was helpful with recommendations, attentive, but not over solicitous and the atmosphere was perfect. The grilled octopus is perfection as are the lamb chops. My Burn Manhattan was delicious and gorgeous and the bread was amazing. The baklava desert was outstanding. Highly recommend and will be back next time we visit the city of brotherly love.

Food was excellent. One of the best restaurants in Philly. Service was a little disjointed when it came to the checks at the end of the night. We were a party of 12 and I guess they were either unwilling or unable to provide separate checks or at least 6 or 7 checks. This was very disappointing and was a poor ending to an otherwise fabulous evening.

The food is delicious. There was a very loud table near us, and the rest of the restaurant was busy. It was too noisy to be relaxing. The low stone ceilings and lack of sound absorbent materials make it very loud and hard to have a conversation. More rugs and curtains needed.

We were late getting to the restaurant because the play was longer than we thought. The staff held our reservation at least 45 minutes past the original time! So gracious. The small dining area in the front of the restaurant is usually great for stowing my husband’s medical scooter. We were fortunate to have Javier as our waiter once again. He and his assistant were expert at moving the table so we could get comfortable. This room is usually quiet but last night, perhaps because we were later, the room was filled with big parties. Several Young children were included. The noise level was louder than ever, but the food was as good as always. The catch of the day was mild, tasty, and beautifully sautéed! The spanakopita was a little overdone, but my salad and oysters were great. Drinks were ample. My husband loved his gin martini. Thank you all!

We always come to Estia before a performance at the Academy of Music. Not only is it close to the theater, the restaurant is always welcoming and the food is lovely. Everyone at the restaurant is friendly and excels in their positions. Drinks are great too.

This was our first return visit to Estia since pre-COVID days. It had always been our preferred pre-theater dinner spot, and until now, never disappointed. Service was attentive and excellent. But the quality of food was not up to our expectations. My chicken was very dry and flavorless. Given the 20% increase in prices (which we understand in this time of inflation) we'd have hoped the restaurant was able to maintain its previous very high quality of ingredients and preparation, but were sadly disappointed.

Would never step foot in this establishment again. Absolutely the worst service in Philly area. Expect to be treated like trash if you don’t wear suit and tie or dress. I mean no one greets you at the entrance. Our waiter was talking over us, wouldn’t allow us to order telling us to drink up and walks away. Don’t get me wrong, food is 8/10 but the atmosphere was garbage. Our waiter would not talk to nor answer my fiancées questions. He would only talk to me or look at me. We noticed he was doing the same thing with different tables. He made a quick smirk after we decided not to get a side dish. Horrific experience. I would highly advise going somewhere else. Ohh and don’t expect to spend less than $150 for two people.
