    We practically had the place to ourselves 5-6:30 on a Thursday— farmers market day in Exeter. Cannot understand why. It is a high end place, to be sure, but the food was delicious, the ambiance lovely, and the service top notch. Unique offerings for a vegetarian, and a US-focused wine list. Wish i lived closer to come more often.

    It was very loud, but there was a wedding reception in next room - (weird on a Monday night). Food, as usual, was very good, but expensive. Service, as usual, was mediocre. Bartender comped us non-alcoholic drinks (I owe her a tip).

    We had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I had the petite filet which was delicious and we shared a boucheron salad which was special. For desert, we split a key lime pie which was fresh and delicious. A wonderful experience.

    The service was excellent as were the appetizers. The main courses were dry and overcooked. We also had to wait for a long time before we got Our main courses. The noise level was too much - big party in the next room. Overall, it was disappointing because we've dined at Epoch a number of times before and we always enjoyed it.

    I think we were expecting a better interior setting and that mismatch set the tone for the evening. Daniel’s service was attentive. The food was bland/ok and premium priced. The interior is cavernous and looks like a school cafeteria with a bar attached- not a cozy dining atmosphere one might anticipate at an old inn. It wasn’t bad but we wouldn’t go back.

    The food, service and cocktails were excellent. My wife and I both had the halibut dinner. We had the deviled agg appetizer which was very good but the portion size was odd. It was 1.5 eggs and it looked so small on the plate. Why not 2 eggs in halfs?? My only real knock is the ambiance of the dinning room. While nice, it just falls way short of a fine dinning atmosphere. They need to address that. The rest of the hotel and bar have a much better ambiance. This is not a low priced dinner place at all. Our dinner for 2 with 2 drinks 1 app and 2 dinner entrees and tip was just over $200.
