Dray Bar & Grill
Dray offers Live Local Music every night of the week. On nice evenings we host live piano music on our baby grand inside, as well as a guitarist or duo on the patio.
We categorize our offerings as Innovative Comfort Food - I like to take recipes that everyone can relate to, and make them with the best ingredients, and give them a little twist. Our Chicken Fried Steak is a slice of Certified Angus Beef Ribeye, with a crisp buttermilk coating and rich black pepper chicken gravy - a best seller! While we have wings, we also do Buffalo Cauliflower bites - a vegetarian alternative!

Outstanding food and service. So glad to have found this place!
Got the champagne shrimp. It was not anything like it was defined. Very few tomatoes and Basil. No flavor. The Brussel sprouts were outstanding though. The waitress was very good and we chose a quite area which I appreciated having the option for. It was very nice. We have had a good experience before sitting at the bar.
Very Tasty and Delicious Food. We have been here several times and has turned out to be a place we will frequent. ( and we do eat out a LOT) and travel a lot and try out lots of unchained restaurants. This one is a must go to.
Food was good. Service was good once the server was identified. Piano music was too loud, but when asked, the level was reduced to a good level.
Thank you for writing! - I appreciate your time. We'll always accommodate In turning down the music. - Also check when making reservations, we now offer "Intimate" dining - In our back dining room...
We were seated at a table for 8 and there was just the 2 of us. This seemed very awkward. It started out ok, they brought our drinks and appetizers but then our entrees came but no salad. Our waitress noticed this and quickly brought our salads out. My husband wasn’t feeling well so we ask if we could have our dessert to go. For some reason the split 1 desert between us and brought it out. I tried to tell them we each wanted one but just put it in a box. After we got home we realized that they had indeed split the desert. We had 2 tiny pieces of tiramisu. This was sad because was the best part of the entire meal. We dropped $240 that night and it was absolutely NOT worth it. The food wasn’t bad but we felt like it was rushed and not as fresh as it should have been. This was a huge disappointment as it was the first time we have actually been able to go out on New Years Eve, my husband is usually at work.
I apologize for your experience.... Our team let you and us down, I promise your next experience will be five star worthy!
When I booked reservations on line nothing was said about a fixed menu, the webpage even showed a menu which I clicked on and read. When we go there it was a fixed menu at 80 dollars a person!! I spoke to hostess she said no problem we could order off regular menu which she gave us, when we got back to the table the waitress told us we couldn’t order from the regular menu only the set menu, so we said forget it and we left
As usual, both the food and the drinks were of excellent quality. Dray has become one of Spartanburg’s most treasured venues. Offering a variety of food and events, the location provides a great space for all kinds of entertainments. The special menu for New Years was a definite hit!
Service for my sisters birthday was terrible. Everything else was great!
I apologize for the service issues... I'll see who was working that day and review service standards with them all...
Really appreciate the staff opening the front room. For those that want a little solitude. Crab cakes awesome. Glad they actually had crab in them.
thank you! - we've had a few people want a more intimate dining experience, and it seems they've all enjoyed the private room!
Nice spot to have a Christmas lunch with a group of friends.
We were there to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. The service was excellent and the server made a big fuss for her birthday, which was very thoughtful. We always enjoy Dray and wanted our adult children to be able to experience it as well. I've already recommended it for holiday dining to several people. This is one of the best spots in Spartanburg.
This was our first visit to Dray Bar & Grill and we really enjoyed it! The food and service were wonderful!
Table was ready when we arrived for our reservation. We waited a while for our server to attend. A large party in the back made everything slow. We were enjoying our date so the slowness wasn’t bothersome for this occasion. We had appetizer, dinner and dessert and all were great. Our server could have been slightly more anticipatory and a little more attentive. She never refilled our drink so we were thankful to have water along with our beverages. Overall the experience was good and we would return.
Went for girls night out birthday dinner. Had the salmon and it was perfect except my salmon didn't have the sauce on it. We were told you guys were out of pimento cheese balls however the table next to us ordered after us and got some. Overall, my fave place for dinner.
We were seated for 10 minutes before we received water and could put in the drink order, luckily I ordered my child's meal with the drinks, because it was an hour after that before her food arrived. Our server was super nice and seemed very competent, and the restaurant was not busy. I can only assume this place is just terribly mismanaged.
We always like the food and location, but the past few visits the music inside has been so loud that you can’t have a conversation at your table. The musicians are excellent but there has to be a way to cut the volume.
Way too loud, could barely hear conversation at our own table.
By looking at reviews, it appears the owners are NOT reading reviews. The Music is TOO LOUD.
I love the food, but I cannot have dinner conversation. Sorry to say, I’m only giving this place one more chance. Plenty other restaurants in Spartanburg where you can both enjoy the food AND the people you’re having dinner with.
I would have given this review five stars but the piano bar player was just too loud and we had to shout to hear each other. The acoustics in the room make the sound even brighter.
Had brunch here. 2nd visit. Service was good. Drinks are weak, especially for $15. Would definitely come back to try for a different meal. The waffles and spicy maple syrup are the best. Eggs are good too.
Food was very good as was the service. The problem is the atmosphere. Being seated next to the bar, we had to deal with some loud, drunk and obnoxious individuals seated and mingling around the bar. If they hadn’t been cursing and laughing obnoxiously, it would have been understandable. Bartenders/mgt need to mindful of this for the sake of their other paying customers. On top of that, they had a piano player, and the acoustics in the room are horrible. Your conversation gets drowned out, so you have to talk even louder for your dining partner to hear you. All-in-all an okay experience because the food and service was good. In warmer weather, I suggest eating outdoors.
We really enjoyed our meal. Great atmosphere, and the piano player last night was very enjoyable. Prompt and friendly service also. We will be back!
Food and atmosphere was perfect for our birthday lunch celebration. Our server was exceptional and went over and above expectations.
The hostess was amazing!! It ended there. We ordered shrimp & grits without the grilled vegetables. When the waitress brought them, she said “he put the vegetables on anyway.” We had to pick all of the veggies off. The grits were very bland. We also ordered a 2nd order of pimento cheese balls that we never received.
We had the Dray burger and Avo Crabwich with homemade chips. Both were delicious, and the live music was nice.
Menu is not large, but has good choices. The option of inside or outside dining is good. % of us in party all enjoyed our meals - Halibut was excellent.
Server was good although there was a mix up over one item which delayed its arrival. The staff handled it well and one of managers explained situation and was very apologetic , and made everything OK.
Food was very good! We would most def go back again and refer friends !
Wonderful atmosphere, attentive service, fabulous food.
I made a reservation for 5 outside and there was live music. We really enjoyed our server, and the food was excellent! We liked the music, but it was so loud we could not carry on a conversation. At our request, our server kindly asked the performer if he could turn down the volume a little, but we could not tell if he did. We liked the music, but we were there for dinner and conversation, not a concert. Sorry to say that we were not able to enjoy our evening and each other’s company as much as we would have liked.
Lovely evening to sit outside and I’m glad because the piano inside was much too loud. Good food as always but the service was a little slow (as it is most places these days.).
We are from Charlotte and we thoroughly enjoyed the Dray Bar & Grill and will be going back SOON, the recommendation on the desert was spot on ( Bread pudding )
Piano music, cool decor, great service, good food, great cocktails
Cool space, very nice dining room, live music on the piano was a bit too loud and prevented us for having much dinner conversation. Server, Taya (?) was very helpful and friendly. We really enjoy the sandwiches we get while at Plankowner Brewing which is provided by Dray B&G, so we intentionally ordered nicer meals while visiting Dray B&G so we could get a good gauge of the cuisine. The food was decent. We ordered the stuffed portobello but the pesto sauce tasted like it was "store bought" and not scratch made. Also ordered the boneless pork chop special which was pretty good just a little dry. Our craft cocktails were very good.
My wife and I genuinely want to like Dray Bar, but they keep stumbling. Last night they were about 40% full. I understand staffing issues but they clearly have plenty of people out front. They simply can’t execute in the kitchen. Not a big deal they are out of things (calamari appetizer) but it would be better to tell a guest before they looked over the menu and made that choice. After our next choice apps were cleared, it was taking far too long for our entrees when the waitress approached us and explained that they had literally dropped one of our entrees on the floor. She indicated that they would put a rush on the do-over (a grilled chicken sandwich). That second attempt took yet another 45 minutes, so long my wife and I were joking that the chef had obviously quit. The waitress kept apologizing and offered a free dessert, which we declined. A visit from the manager/owner would have been appreciated. This kind of thing has happened about every other time we have decided need here. Not the fault of the waitress but rather a kitchen that simply cannot produce food consistently even when the restaurant isn’t busy.
Excellent food and excellent service. It can be a little noisy especially if there's the piano player. Which makes having a conversation difficult. Outside of that we enjoyed ourselves!
Very good but chicken was a little tough. A little pricey for the amount of food. But overall, very good
Love The Dray. The food is always good. It was anniversary lunch. I thought they may have done something special, but our server said only for birthdays. Server was excellent also. I don’t recall her name, but she is having twins.
Great food and wonderful service….
Our waiter was fabulous but the food was mediocre at best. The drinks and dessert were the hi light of the entire meal. The guy playing guitar was not great and we wished he took more breaks. Overall it seems the Dray has slipped with their food quality. It was not our best experience, unfortunately.
Too expensive for what you get , $22 for a small bone in piece of thigh meat in the Chicken Risotto. $26 for shrimp Alfredo with fancy name. $28 for salmon come on really I can buy 3 lbs of salmon at Costco for that price. It’s normal food at an upscale price with waitresses dressed like they work at Hooters. Great desserts
Sorry you didn't enjoy. Our chicken risotto is not thigh meat, but breast, and our Salmon is brought in fresh just about every day. We are committed to serving fresh and when available local ingredients, cooked to order.
