Had a table of 8 for a special occasion and they took great care of us even during restaurant week. The sunset was gorgeous, the food was great. All of us tried different things and we all liked out food. I was so happy that the waiter was patient and attentive. It took my party a long time to show up because of some unavoidable delays, but the restaurant was very patient with us. They did run out of one of the desserts that we wanted but they allowed us a substitute and we were happy with it. I liked how the server got us an ice bucket without me even asking. I loved that parking was free. Many of us either had never been here before or haven't been in a very long time, so we were all very happy to experience this restaurant anew. Chef was nice too. Only thing was that the bathrooms were a bit of a walk aways, but really really pretty inside. And I love me a pretty bathroom :)

First time here. SDRW definitely the way to eat here. Prices are steep, but you are paying for a spectacular view if your timing is right (before sunset). Food was well prepared, tasted delicious and had some unusual twists that really worked. Kudos to the very inventive chef. Only minuses...wait staff made us feel a bit rushed. They charged for a basket of bread = $3 for 6 half slices of weird bread (rye and something we couldn't figure out) and were not told there was a fee for bread, which also didn't even arrive until after appetizer? They overcharged me on my glass of wine, which was corrected.

This was our first visit at Cusp since the pandemic started, and since Cusp underwent renovation. We were pleasantly surprised at the makeover, with the addition of a seating area overlooking the kitchen stations. We loved sitting there watching the chef and the cooks turn out awesome-looking dishes, one after the other. The food was fantastic - we each had the seafood specials: the local catch of the day, and the chef's choice fish. One had Sea Bass, the other had Cobia - both were delicious. The staff was very friendly, but there were a few slip-ups: I had reserved the seats overlooking the kitchen, but when we arrived, the hostess tried to seat us at a small side table. When I told her about the reservation, she had no idea what I was talking about, and then she guesses she could seat us there. Huh? I asked for a bottle of wine from the wine menu, and the waiter brought out a substitute, which was fine, but not the same as what I was expecting. Since the reservation was fairly early - 7pm - why would they be out of wine? Last, although friendly at first, the chef took a seat at the counter next to us and broke out her laptop and piles of paperwork, apparently catching up on her day work. Doesn't a chef rate a private office? Anyway, we had a good dinner, but the other things were distracting, and should be corrected. We will return, since Cusp was once one of our favorite go-to restaurants, and will be again.

Our first visit was during restaurant week. Crab tostada was fresh and light, the carrots were delish and the snapper with corn and zucchini was very tasty. A couple of reasons I didn't give the evening 5 stars include the bleu cheese olives in the martini and the skin on the snapper. Olives seemed old and had a strange odor and skin on the fish wasn't crispy. Definitely going to revisit Cusp. Amazing views!

We’re celebrating a late anniversary dinner. This is where I proposed to my wife 7 years ago! We were seated right away, and at the table we requested facing the water. We didn’t know they had the San Diego restaurant week menu going on, but the selections and pricing was reasonable. Corkage fee was $25/bottle. We’re glad we brought our own bottle of 2004 Krug Brut Champagne. For starters, my wife had the fresh crab stack, while I picked the fresh cod ceviche- both were amazing. For the main dish, I had the 14 oz ribeye, while my wife had the chef’s special which is a sea bass fillet seared on stir fried vegetables and noodle. We got the brownie ala mode and crème brûlée for dessert. Overall the experience was great. We hoped we had the ability to order from the regular menu for our classic favorites.

Go for the view, stay for the food and drink. The space is hot being on the 11th floor which is difficult when we have excessive outside heat. AC was not quite up to the task. But food and view (when the shade could be open, that is) are worth repeat visits. Bartender - Paige_ was a wizard with yummy cocktails. The menu is somewhat limited so if you can't find something you like, you might leave a bit hungry.

Family vacation. Good food. Great view. Awesome ladies restroom. I made a mistake in making the reservation. When I tried to change from 6 to 8, open table threw me two hours later. I tried to call the restaurant and they told me to go online. Insisted. Got voice mail. Not customer service driven.

Menu is small but dishes are well prepared and well presented. Last time we went there our party had the sea bass, the salmon, and the yellowtail--all were great. They make a nice short rib dish too but they don't offer it in summer. Waitstaff are attentive but not intrusive. Views of the sunset over the ocean are spectacular.

Sorry to say of our disappointment ….but Ambience / price rationale not so good! Place was sticky tables & windows old tinting film coverage wouldn’t allow for a good picture or view of a sunset. Very disappointing second rate place but the service was great & people nice. They need a new building!

We had a lovely table with the view of the sunset for a gathering of three couples. We were seated on time orders taken, however our waiter did not seem to listen to specifics that we requested in our drink orders and our food. The ambience was perfect, the meals were delicious especially the Bolognese. Fish was tasty and large portion. Cocktails were terrible. Manhattan was very sweet - asked for light vermouth and no cherry - got extra vermouth and cherry juice and cherry. Our friend tried 2 different drinks and neither were very good. This would be a go to place for happy hour or sunset drink at the bar so hope the bartender can work on the cocktails

This is a real restaurant close to European. It has all great elements: food, service, interior, view. We ordered almost all menu and it was great - pan fried rib eye, beef bolognese, chef's choice fish, cusp burger. Only apple fritters dessert was not at my taste. We spent a wonderful evening

Food and ambiance were good. Service was adequate. What was VERY annoying is trying to get out. Elevator broke. Walked 11 stories to the ground. Got to the car and could not get out of the parking lot. Someone could not get the gate to open. They backed up and I tried. Nope. Another car. We all went to the concierge at the front desk. He was ambivalent. Could care less. Three sets of people. Apparently, you have to go to the Front Desk and have your entry to parking lot slip validated. NO ONE knew this. You'd think that it would be something you'd want your customers to know. Might be a long time before I go back.

We are locals and had a 50% off coupon for one entree so decided to check out Cusp; we hadn’t been for a while. Gorgeous view and pleasant, attentive service. However, we hadn’t checked out the menu in advance; it was limited, with 3 fish dishes out of about 6 entrees. I don’t eat fish, so that was one problem. The steak was $46 and huge; the roast chicken took 30 minutes, and I wasn’t in the mood for Pasta Bolognese. I ended up with a pizza and my husband had the burger, which he ordered medium rare and was well done. The pizza was tasty and I have lots leftover, and I did enjoy my cocktail. But overall, only so-so.

First time at Cusp. it was a pleasant surprise. The view is amazing and the service is very professional and friendly- just right. Two of us had the fish special which was tuna and it as great! The portion was very large and it was tasty. The other person had a sea bass fish dish which was a bit dry and not so good. Dessert was very nice. Drinks were good. Overall, a small place with a limited menu but good food and pleasant atmosphere. We would go back.

I rarely write negative reviews of a restaurant. I usually just don't bother to go back. But this time I have to make an exception. The evening started out with a lot of promise. Restaurant Week and great views of La Jolla from the 11th floor of the Hotel La Jolla, where this restaurant is located. Then everything went down hill from there. Drinks were poorly made. Margaritas were much too sweet and the Bombay and Tonic was flat and tasteless. Crab Tostada appetizer was good, but the Sea Bass main course had a huge portion of it that was tough, sinewy and inedible. Our waiter tried hard, but he was just overwhelmed due to lack of servers and just couldn't provide the level of service you'd expect from a location like this. I have been here several times in the past. This used to be a great place, but in my opinion has taken a giant step backwards. All this being said, it ended up being a very expensive meal that disappointed from the get-go and I won't be back.
