We made reservations at Coin and Candor to celebrate my birthday. We weren’t staying at the hotel, and we heard great things about it. It definitely didn’t look, feel or taste like a generic hotel restaurant. Because of our experience and the delicious food, we will now be “regulars”!
First, We were greeted warmly by the host, as she was seating us, she asked which one of us we were celebrating! That was so sweet!
The decor was gorgeous and every detail wasn’t overlooked. We ordered a few apps and we were offered a complimentary loaf of hot freshly baked sourdough. That was a special surprise! I had a mouth watering NewYorkStrip with a side baked sweet potato. Another friend ordered the Salmon and the birthday girl ordered a different steak. Everything was so delicious, we all tried one another’s. My daughter was with us and she enjoyed the Mac and Cheese,The portion for the kids food was large enough for an adult and she said it was “yummy”!
Our Server, Jesus, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made suggestions on our wine selections. He was very courteous and professional, yet not stuffy. We all felt like family! We will definitely be back, sooner than the next birthday. Btw, the chocolate layer birthday cake was so delicious, if you enjoy ganache fudge frosting, you definitely need to save room for it!!
Very good, friendly service but less than overwhelmed by the food. The chicken dinner was very good and the highlight of the meal. The Mushrooms and Cauliflower starters were both so so. Have eaten there twice and nothing compelling enough to have me go back a 3rd time
Great as always!
Great!!! Awesome food!!
This is a vibrant trendy spot to enjoy a farm to table meal, served and prepared with love. We were treated like royalty by staff and loved the Som and his great knowledge of wine. Will definitely be back. The bread is to die for.
I loved our experience here! My only complaint was that when we were seated outside trying to enjoy the view and ambiance, there was a family sitting next to us watching loud videos on their cell phones. None of the wait staff or management said anything asking them to turn down the volume. We felt like it kind of took away from our experience because at such an upscale hotel people should be able to enjoy the ambiance without inconsiderate patrons playing videos for others to be subject to.
Love love love Coin & Candor! Went with some friends tonight. It was their first time. They all enjoyed it so much. Best service friendly staff. The food is amazing....great place to hang out and socialize. So glad I brought them here.....and we didn’t stop there we walked down to The Prosperous Penny for drinks that’s also in the hotel! Can’t go wrong with a night out with friends at the FS🌟
Absolutely love the gluten-free pancakes. Came for my birthday with friends and then by myself for breakfast. Service was impeccable on both occasions and sitting outside with a view of the waterfall was the perfect start to my day.
Modern and romantic indoor and outdoor seating options in the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel. Entrees were terrific and nice wine list. Highly recommend the Jidori Chicken
The food was excellent. The preparation was excellent and the food was high quality and fresh. Our service was very good but a little rushed. No one seemed to stay at our table for very long, always in a hurry. Overall I would say our dinner experience was a 5 star.
I made a reservation in advance, but when I arrived said the only tables left were outside. I wish they had indicated that on Open Table so I could have eaten elsewhere (somewhere that would have reserved a table for me INSIDE). It is freezing outside at this time of year, and I never would have chosen a place that would seat me outside. They should not accept reservations without telling people they don’t have seats inside. I hired a babysitter for a date night with my husband. Huge disappointment.
I'm glad I read someone else's review 1st that said they seated outside in the cold. They tried that with me , but I said no and then they tried to seat us right in front of the door to outside , were we would feel the cold air everytime it was opened. I didn't want to be a pain but I want to enjoy my meal without freezing. We dined during DineLA Week which we were very happy they participated in. My favorite was the Homemade Cavatelli ,Grilled Swordfish and Apple Tart, but was very surprised the waiter didn't ask if we wanted to order coffee with it. The other items on the DineLA menu were larger portions but half the flavor. Over all it was a so-so experience, but would try them again to see which way it tilts.
Service was solid.
Food was beautiful but lacked flavor.
Restaurant acoustics made it seem overly loud and made it quite difficult to hear one another
The food was good but not great, ditto on the service. My main complaint was that we were encouraged to take the heated patio on a chilly winter night. Yes, we were offered blankets, but if your patron needs 2 blankets to make it through dinner - I ask, it that really the experience you want to offer? We probably won't be back..
Sat us (a table of 9 including kids) directly in the sun which was in our eyes and incredibly hot. Took over an hour for the food to come. Forgot some of our order. Didn’t bring food out when it was ready as we requested because of the kids. Truly awful especially for a Four Seasons.
Coin & Candor is very good. Good service, great location, premises, dining area. Portions were small so I did reduce the value score... but otherwise great.
Outstanding service and attention to detail! Love this place to celebrate with the family!
Great New Year’s Eve!
The dining area can be made a little more cozy with warm
Lights and comfier seating
Too much gap in between the tables
Too bright and cold for evening dining
We had New Year’s eve dinner. It was a pri fix menu which we are usually skeptical about but it turned out to be delicious. The service was terrific. We very much enjoyed it.
Unfortunately I had the feeling that there was more attention for the preparation of the new year party than for the guests. I wasn't even finished with my starter, so they wanted to serve me my steak. After I got it back later, of course it was no longer at the right temperature and was no longer medium. I really would have expected something better for this price.
Everyone was lovely but the food was cold and had little taste.
The day before NYE and neither the onsite sushi restaurant or lobby bar were open, strange! Coin & Candor was busy, but it lacks warmth, both in the service and ambiance front. The food and wine are fine, but there could be more value for what you get! We're locals so will try it again soon, I'm sure.
Everything was outstanding. My only ding, it's a little too expensive for what you get.
They did not have it together at all. Took almost 30 mins to get our first drink, server never came by, food came out and didn’t know for which table and was cold, the apology was they were under staffed BUT to make it worse 2 of us were double charged for the meal. Horrendous experience and I used to work for the Four Seasons so this is completely unacceptable.
Christmas dinner was not at all as expected. The branzino was dry and a very small portion.it was definitely not a Four Season experience.
The appetizers were great, the entree was average, wine selection was good, service was a bit sparse. Super pricey, Michelin Star prices but without the quality. Wouldn’t go again but still had a fine experience.
Our family of 4 went for Christmas Eve dinner. C&C is in the Four Seasons Hotel, so expectations were high. The enticing prix fix menu was on their website. We had a reservation. From photos, we observed that the restaurant had a casual vibe to it: no booths, no linens, simple tables and chairs, all of located in a semi circle around the bustling central bar. We had hoped they would spruce things up for Christmas Eve.
THE GOOD: The food was top notch. We were greeted with a tasty amuse bouche; then our choice of one of three appetizers; choice of three main courses; choice of three desserts. All tasty, but sorry, that's all the good.
THE BAD: 1. Table. Our table was on the outside veranda, which was draped in clear plastic to shield it from the cold. The patio heaters weren't on, so the veranda was cold. We asked our waiter to turn them on. No can do was the first response; turns out the heaters are too close to the plastic which he said would melt. This left us chilly, and annoyed, given that the heater over the wait station was on, so at least the bus boy wouldn't catch cold. I rose and found the manager, who discerned that some of the heaters could be used, and ten minutes later the heat came on.
2. Ambiance. There was none. They hadn't stepped it up at all for Christmas Eve. No linens, candle, holiday decorations. Nuttin'. Same old plain Jane tables and chairs. 3. The Menu. The advertised prix fix menu was not what they were serving. The entire menu had been changed; in particular, no steak that we had been looking forward to, and in fact no meat dish at all. The main course was turkey, fish or mushrooms. So our table had 3 turkeys and mushrooms. All tasty, but turkey I can get at the Hyatt. 4. Service. The food came up quickly; with only 3 main courses, how hard can it be. Bus service was spotty, and we had dirty dishes and glasses on the table far too long.
All in all, a disappointment. For a bill of $650 for 4 people, it was underwhelming. Won't go back.
$80 prix fix dinner for a ridiculously small amount of food! A total and complete waste of money!
It was fabulous! Better than we thought it would be! Will definitely go again!!
Inside Four Seasons Hotel & Spa. Food was good as usual. Service was spotty given large Snowman winter party for the children. Very busy and understaffed. Love the coffee and food. Great location.
Great food and even better service. Inside the Four Seasons in Westklake Village. Be sure to ask for a loaf of their baked bread. It’s amazing!
This restaurant is just an up scale coffee shop with very up scale prices and a strange wenu. Seating options are very crowded and uncomfortable. It took so long to get anyone's attention we just up and left. This restaurant needs to get organized and to forget about being pretentious!
We love the ambience out on the patio by the waterfall; but heaters didn't offer enough warmth (as promised) on a breezy day. That said, a great staff and varied menu were appreciated by our company executives.
The food was terrible!!!
There was one server for the whole lunch hour and service was very slow.
Had to get up to find server to get check.
My wife and I had a good experience at Coin & Candor. The service and ambiance were both on the mark. The food was acceptable, but should be better given the setting. Our red snapper order was overcooked and lacked flavor. The shrimp and grits were delicious and the highlight of the evening. They threw in a nice touch at the end bringing us a flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Definitely would recommend to friends for a causal night out.
Good food. Fantastic service and amazing cocktails. We had a great time
Excellent service by the manager.
