Clay's - Hyderabadi Kitchen
Our whole menu is based on Hyderabadi cuisine, a southern region in India.
We are a small dining place so currently we cannot take in any under 5 children. Our sincere appologies for that.
Unlike anywhere else I've been. Truly excellent food.
Nice food, good service. Enjoyed this meal and will return.
Honestly one of the best kept secrets of Reading. We visited for my sister’s birthday and the food was genuinely authentic and extremely tasty. Service was impeccable and a real homely vibe.
We’d recommend this for anyone looking to get a genuine taste of India and we will definitely be attending again!
The food at Clay's is a welcome change to the 'usual' curry scene. There are very few dishes you'll have heard of on the menu but it means you get to try something actually authentic and clearly cooked with passion. The paneer majestic is definitely something to write home about; as was the crab meat curry. If you order a biriyani, you even get to take the clay pot it's cooked in, home. The service is always very friendly there and they're always happy to provide recommendations or explain the dishes. We had an excellent evening and will be making sure to visit again soon!
Really tasty Indian meal with friends, not your standard curry house fare, more expensive (around £20 per head for a meal with a drink) but good value with vegan options and a cheery decor with welcoming staff. My mushroom masala was excellent. The only issue we had was a missing rice but the staff were very helpful. Definitely worth a visit.
Fantastic food , great ambience and excellent customer service
As always just brilliant food. Bought two new friends asking who thoroughly enjoyed each dish.
Love love love love love love love.
Did I mention I love Clays?
Yet again, a wonderful meal at Clay’s. Sophisticated spice combinations, excellent quality, personalised service. I have been a few times, and every time is as fresh and surprising as the first. Will be back again soon!
Over priced and the food doesn’t taste that authentic same like most Indian restaurants in UK an unfortunate scenario. Shame that the reviews from other sites on this restaurant dint do any justice. Ambience is of a take away bug prices are of posh restaurant totally unacceptable. Two person dining costed more than 56 pounds that’s unbelievable for the food we have ordered. The food tasted okish and that’s about it.
We were recommended Clay's Hyderabadi Kitchen by a friend and I am so glad we went. The food was awesome and the service was incredible and accommodating. I live in Spain and visit Reading regularly and will definitely be back. I have already recommended it to a number of friends.
The food was delicious absolutely will be coming back.
Fantastic food and service. We all loved it. Would be good to have no alcohol beer for drivers and someone needs to check the loos for paper towels. That's all!
Not your usual Indian cuisine. This was authentic and much better! Not greasy. Very tasty.
Food was superb, can't wIt to go back.
Wine very reasonable priced.
Food quite exspensive, but worth it
Food is beautiful but not cheap. Really good for a treat.
Simply one of the best places to dine in Reading. Maybe even the best. The food is spectacular, and the staff passionate and friendly. Highly recommended.
Lovely but different take on Indian food. Plenty of options including veggie and vegan.
Ridiculously overpriced that doesn't even taste half as good as the price they charge you for..
I hail from South India and know a thing or two about south Indian food..they claim to serve authentic south Indian food which people who have never eaten south Indian food before may even agree..
You will get a better hyderabadi dum biryani for less than half the price in many restaurants in London..I cannot quite explain their chicken 65 and even wonder why they call it that as I guess they themselves know when it is not... There is a reason why some authentic receipes have been followed as it is for years..
if you had hyderabadi food before and go here with an expectation you will be dissappointed..
I saw a lot of white people and not so many indians when I went in and now I know why..No original flavour, ridiculous prices and I know I am not going there again...and if you want to a enjoy the true flavours of hyderabadi cuisine I say look elsewhere...
This was my fourth visit since discovering the restaurant about four weeks ago. Once again it did not dissapoint.
First time at Clay's and unbelievably good food, the best Indian food I have had for a very long time. service was superb. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely be going back. The Kodi Chips are fabulous.
We're massive fans of Clay's - fresh flavorful ingredients, kind staff and enthusiastic owners. If you're keen for a delicious evening and a memorable food experience, go to Clay's and prepared to leave happy.
Exceptional food, and great service. Highly recommend.
The food is just a little bit different to normal indian restaurants, and is outstanding.
We will definitely be back
Loved it. I love spicy food and Clays delivered. Will definitely be back. I want to try all the other stuff on the menu
This is the fourth time I have eaten here and each time it has been superb, food is excellent, staff are very helpful and I will definately be back.
Superb food. Completely different from your “standard” curry house. Freshly prepared, some incredible flavours. Just love this place. Been several times before and we’ll certainly be back again!
We absolutely love the food at Clay’s, it is so delicious! I would love to try a taster menu there!
Great service and staff were extremely friendly. Food was very unusual and me and my friend really enjoyed it.
Another great evening at Clays, wonderful food and fantastic service.
Had been recommended Clay's by some friends and was better than expected. Cosy venue, amazing food which was different to normal 'Indian' without being too experimental and matched with a couple of great beers - one a partnership with a decent local brewery and a mango beer I'd never had before. Owner really knows what they're doing! Will be back shortly.
By far the best restaurant in Reading - unbelievable food and service.
The food was amazing, very different to other Indian restaurants. Will definitely return.
I’m afraid to say it was all a bit flat. I was very excited to visit but it didn’t live up to expectations. Maybe I didn’t order the right things or visited on a difficult day. I might be tempted to visit again though as I do like the inventive nature of the restaurant.
Lovely meal. Starter of cabbage pakora, followed by red curry chicken and chicken biryani. Will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu.
The food was excellent. No rush with anything. Certainly a different experience with a clay pot dish. Would recommend to anyone
Clays serves the best Indian food in Reading!
The best Indian restaurant in the wider RG area by far. Every single dish is superb. Sauces are flavoursome but light, the spices feel authentic, and the accompaniments (e.g. the roti) are perfect. Renders all other similar restaurants irrelevant.
We ordered for a claypot Biriyani and the Chicken inside the biriyani pot was cold. Also patar ka gost started was also not hot. Also we sat downstairs and at certain point no one turned up to check us and i went all the way up to ask something. My previous experiences with the restaurant was very good but this time was not ok. Thanks for the good parts though.
BEST PLACE FOR INDIAN FOOD IN READING! We went back to the menu again and again, and every dish was delicious. Great for vegetarians and meat eaters too. Now we've moved away, we'd definitely return to Reading just to eat here. Everyone was lovely and provided us with great recommendations, and were very patient when we kept ordering more. The only thing stopping us from going through the whole menu was the size of our stomachs!
THE best curry in Reading. Everything is paired beautiful from the accompanying sauces to the beetroot roti. The lamb starter and the Red Curry are favourites but there's so much more and very vegan friendly too. We have been multiple times and keep going back for more!
