Food was very good especially the veal. Service was very good. Cappuccino was undrinkable. It was as though the coffee had been sitting around for hours.
Love this neighborhood gem. This spot has had a few different restaurants that didn’t succeed . We hope this one does. The food is excellent , and we love it there. It’s nice to see that people seem to be finding it... if you like good food, give it a try ... I’m sure you’ll go back again and again
A neighborhood gem. Great food at a reasonable price. Have enjoyed this restaurant multiple times. Always had a wonderful meal.
Excellent dining experience. Food was very good. Prices were reasonable.
Great food... convenient location . This is a neighborhood gem. We will be going back often.
All the food was superb from appetizers to desert! This iwas our fourth dining experience here. And again this restaurant didn’t disappoint. To start, we enjoyed the plump mussels in the white sauce...right up there with some of the best I’ve eaten. Also we ordered the meatballs in a marinara sauce along with an arugula salad topped with fresh fruit in a light lemon vinaigrette. The chef sent a complimentary plate of bruschetta which was appreciated. For our main courses, everyone agreed the food was 5 stars all the way from the gnocchi, fra diavolo, veal chop and lamb special. No room for desert, but of course we shared a limoncello cake amongst us. Not a crumb was left on the plate. Can’t wait to go back again to this hidden gem!!!
Amazing food! We will be back for sure!!!
Wasn't crazy about our first visit. Caesar salad was mediocre. I had veal chop which was fatty, my fiance had lobster and crab ravioli which were OK but served warm not hot. Have read other great reviews from some of our neighbors maybe they had an off night. Service was fine, environment clean. Owner welcoming.
All five in our party agreed that the salads, entrees and desserts were outstanding. I loved the meatballs and ravioli. The owner and waitress were most personable--loved owner's description of the food. We all agreed that this is a great place for group of people to eat and catch up on latest happenings. We will definitely return and have given recommendation to other friends. So happy Ciao is in the area.
Food was outstanding - special gnocchis were delicious, big portion; recommended salad special with greens, pineapples, strawberries & mangos was so good, for 2 people, but all 4 of us tasted it. Owner and waitress were very personable and checked on us throughout our dinner.
Definitely will return- highly recommended!
Very disappointed. Service lacking in many ways. We are Repeat regular diners. One server for entire restaurant. Had to ask for water and bread. Bread basket wrapped in soiled napkin. Ordered shrimp on gnocchi dish and they forgot the shrimp. Didn’t finish gnocchi dish (over half of serving) and asked for it to be wrapped to go. Waited 15 minutes and asked where our to go bag was and server said she would be back with it. Much later she returned to say it was thrown out by accident and cooking up more. Received to go bag of gnocchi with watery sauce and much smaller portion than I left. No apology given. Extremely disappointed.
What a find, excellent food and service, easy to find with parking? And it's a BYO? It's almost perfect. Homemade pastas, actually the chef said 'I make everything' and you can tell as everything we had (and we had a lot of food) was excellent. Started with calamari and as we know this can be eh or good and this was really good, a very nice tomato sauce with it. Next had the mussels in a spicy tomato sauce which was different than the calamari sauce but just as good. Friends had the Caesar salads and they were huge and delish, they took extras home and three of us ate off of two of them. One had the seafood pasta, husband had the seafood ravioli, one order of veal parm and I had the saltimbocca. I was very impressed with the food and service, the chef came out a few time to check to make sure all was well and that it was. I can't wait to go back and try some new dishes, if you miss this one, you will be sorry.
Read about Ciao in a newspaper article and we were glad we gave it a try. Food choices were varied and everything we tried was excellent and plentiful. We particularly loved the Jerusalem Artichoke antipasto, the Gnocchi we ordered as a side because they were mentioned in several reviews very positively. My wife loved her seafood special and I ordered a veal and mushroom dish from the menu that I am sure to order again during future visits.
Enjoyed 2 dinners this week there. Hope they decide to have pizza.
Excellent food. Chef talked to us like we are old friends which was fun. Can’t eait to go back. Ambience was sparse though
Food was good.....gnocchi outstanding. Service was good however it took very long for the food to arrive. Maybe it was just growing pains?
Service was very poor. Food especially the "specials" was terrible. Chaos.....no hostess, no busboy.Owner/chef was seating people, greeting people, delivering food seemed overwhelmed.
Food was excellent. Everyone loved their food. Veal chop outstanding!
Very good food! If your interested in a quick dinner this is not the place for you. There definitely is time in between the various courses, but food was delicious!
If possible, this would have received one star. Though the food was delicious the service was HORRENDOUS. One member of our party never even received her dinner but after waiting for 2.5 hours, we didn’t even bother re-ordering for her.
Our waiter seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else, veal chop was christened by a new box of salt, ignored by our waitresses, menu looked like what non-Italians expect at an Italian restaurant (OliveGarden?) I'm 2nd gen Italian and grew up on the REAL stuff.
Bad food, bad attitude, bad service....too expensive. Gotten better for 1/2 the price.
All aspects of the food were excellent. It was well prepared and very tasty. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. While obviously you patronize a restaurant for its food the dining experience is affected by the ambience. Unfortunately Ciao’s ambience needs enhancement. The quality of the food and the ambience are out of sync. The space is not warm and inviting. It says “eat” not “dine”. I hope this can be improved in the near future.
What a disappointment after so many positive reviews. Either the diners' standards are low or I was at a different establishment. Globe artichoke hearts described as Jerusalem artichokes. Soggy calamari, hard mussels, too many potatoes, not enough octopus, gummy gnocchi in an extremely bland sauce. This "chef" is supposedly known for gnocchi. Sent out food that should have embarrassed him. Some sent back to the kitchen. Our wine was great--we brought it. The restaurant was 25% full and he had trouble getting 3 acceptable appetizers out...what happens when they are full? The noise level was brutal....Won't be returning or recommending.
Not a good experience. The service was non existent and our server who I think was the head chef was very rude. We waited over 40 minutes for him to come to our table to tell us about the specials and take our order. We received our appetizers and then we waited over an hour get our entrees (one order wrong and sides wrong on 2 orders). Food was okay. Thank heavens for Billy who brought us bread, wine glasses, and kept our water glasses filled.
Food was very good but service was terrible. Not nearly enough help, owner was running around very frazzled. Hopefully, it will improve with some time
It is a convenient location for West Chester residents to get quality Italian food.
Loved everything. The chef was wonderful as was the staff. We had the calamari with everything- really tasty. The spicy shrimp over linguine and shrimp pappardelle porcini mushrooms both were fantastic. Can’t wait to return.
We've been to Ciao several times since the opening a few months ago. This past Saturday we went with a group of friends, a total party of eight people. So we ordered the Chef's Table. The owner, Sandro, offered us plenty of appetizers including the calamari Ercole, his homemade meat balls, mussels and his special artichoke appetizer. Then we had a delicious sampling of pastas which included his outstanding homemade gnocchi! After that we had our entrees which were, as always, delicious. Many at the table had veal entrees. Finally a sampling of his desserts which included the homemade tiramisu.
So, grab six or more of your friends and order the Chef's Table option. Come hungry because there is a lot of food. Sit back, relax and enjoy!
Food was good but on the pricey side. $16 for a “special” salad is high. $20 for lasagne is high although it is very good. Pasta is very good. BYOB is nice.
Let's just say the best part of our meal was the bread.
This is our third time dining at Ciao. The food is excellent. We have tried many different dishes and all excellent, with the pastas being our favorite (all homemade). The calamari was excellent as was the mushroom appetizer. Unfortunately, we have been too full to sample the desserts. Prices are reasonable and love that it is a BYOB.
I usually don’t write reviews, but this was probably the first time in my life I walked into a restaurant and was blown away with how good the food that was cooking smelled. The chef was cooking veal chops and I ordered it immediately. I also don’t like to repeat restaurants, but I can see myself coming back here very soon!
First time there and we loved it. This same building has been a different restaurant in the past, and it didn’t last. Hoping this one does... great food and friendly staff. It’ll be a go to place for us, since it’s right in the neighborhood.
This place is great for date night. Lighting was perfect and the food was superb.
Very good food at this BYOB, and reasonable prices. The ambiance was a lacking. The staff was friendly. A few of our orders weren’t exactly right. Would definitely go back.
Very quiet on a slow night. All four of us enjoyed our food and the opportunity to dine and chat without a lot of background noise (music or conversation). We will return.
The food was excellent some of the best Italian food I have ever had as far as the service goes they have only been open for three weeks and they are working out some of the Kinks but I think this will be one of my top places to continue to go to
Absolutely wonderful Italian food! Sauce/gravy delicious!
A Neighborhood gem. Recently opened and working through minor staffing level issues. This is going to be a real winner. Been there twice in two weeks. Took neighbors and they really liked this restaurant as well. Wide menus choices, Really special "specials."
This restaurant although new will never make it. Although confirmed online they did not have my reservation which I proved on my i phone for them. They seated me on a back wall with no table cloth which all other tables except one had. Asked server if she could dry the table because it was wet and she said yes but never returned to do that so it eventually dried on its own. When asked for bread which we saw being cut in the kitchen on our way in the response was we do not have any butter. Never even received just bread after asking another server a second time. Only one waiter to take orders for a room of about 60 patrons. No one offered a wine glass until I asked, it is a BYOB. Food good. Received dinner quickly. Price very reasonable. There was so much stress involved with this reservation that it ruined the whole experience for us. We will not be returning.
