  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for fine wines
Established in 1983, Chamard Vineyards, is one of the Connecticut Wine Trails founding fathers. Tucked between the Long Island Sound and the Connecticut River, Chamard enjoys a unique marine micro-climate ideal for growing European Vinifera vines such as Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Pinot Noir. To produce “French Inspired Wines from the Connecticut Shoreline” has been Chamards mission from the start. As a farm, Chamard honors agriculture by partnering with fellow growers and producers to pair food with wine in celebration of Connecticut’s local gastronomy.

My husband and I enjoy dining at Chamard Vineyard. We had the warm brie appetizer and the presentation was beautiful. It was also so delicious. We had the cod dinner which was also delicious. The best was the flourless cake for dinner. It was a must to have. Thank you so much Chamard Vineyard.

The consistent quality of attention of the waiting service adds a level of relaxed comfort to the evening. The food, as always, maintains its high level, and the wines are always a treat.

The food was excellent and we had a lovely waiter but the room we were seated in was overlit and destroyed the ambiance that should come with fine dining. At our request our waiter had the lights lowered but it still wasn’t sufficient to create a gracious atmosphere commensurate with the food. We would request a different room on our next visit.

Chamard isn’t what you expect to find in this part of CT. A vineyard off a suburban residential street! But it’s a lovely setting with surprisingly good wine they produce and food.

We were very excited about eating at this restaurant but sadly it did not live up to our expectations. We ordered a Camembert appetizer and we specifically asked our server if that would be enough for our table of 5 to sample. He said yes it was. After 55 minutes in which we were beginning to wonder what was happening, another server delivered our food to the table. We asked about what happened to our appetizer and she said she would be happy to get one then. We said, no, if our dinner is being served, we will just take the dinner and to forget about the appetizer. Shortly thereafter the original Waite arrived saying he thought we decided against the appetizer. We explained that was not the case and we asked if it woulkd be enough for the table so how could he have misinterpreted the discussion. No apology. He did say that it would make a lovely dessert option. Three of us ordered the steak/frites. The quality of the steak was not what we were expecting, it certainly was not "prime". The "frites" were not like anything I have ever been served. There were 4 haricot verts atop the steak. Our other friends had the Cod and Chicken Forestiere and they seemed to enjoy their dishes. The waiter came back and asked if we would like to see a dessert menu and we declined. The bill was presented to us. No offer was made to accommodate the misunderstanding about the appetizer. Most fine establishments might have offered a "complimentary" dessert for the misunderstanding on their part. Frankly, this may have been an "off" evening but since we do not live in this part of the country, if we ever return to the area, we will not be returning.
