Has been an outstanding Boulder staple for years, menu always seems to keep my favorites and quality never changes.
Excellent Italian food-the best in Boulder. Patio is nice but in a busy parking lot. However it is worth sitting there during COVID to eat their delicious food.
Carelli's is a neighborhood gem with great service and delicious Italian food. Allison was super sweet. We really enjoyed meeting her. Will definitely request her on our next visit. Highly recommend Carelli's.
It had been a few years since we had the opportunity to dine at Carelli's. We were celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary, and the experience did not disappoint. Everything was first class, the staff were friendly and attentive, the food and wine were superb! Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed dining here again.
Excellent food. Outstanding waitperson.
Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, yummy food and large portions.
A Boulder "tradition". Very good food and service and is very consistent.
I really enjoyed my dinner at Carelli’s. The service was outstanding and so was the food. I love the kale salad- the green apple and candied almonds are such a nice combo with the slightly sweet dressing! I followed it up with the carbonara— they make theirs with cream and add mushrooms and it was delicious!
The ambiance is beautiful in the restaurant; I can see why it’s won Best of Boulder in that category for many years. It felt really comfortable and classy. I’ll definitely be going back!
Always great food and service. Also have many wonderful gluten free dinners and desserts.
Hate to complain. Maybe my expectations were too high due to other reviews. Got seated and no staff stopped by our table even to say “I’ll be with you in a bit.” Waited 10 min and it was clear we didn’t get assigned. I finally approached the hostess and let her know we might’ve been missed. Was just looking to get a drink order put in. They admitted a miscommunication on their team. Not a big deal.
However the food wasn’t great, either, particularly for the price. Candidly, I’ve had better chicken piccata from Trader Joe’s packaged meals. Not exaggerating. The chicken was swimming in a lemon dominant sauce but somehow really dry and flavorless inside. I thought maybe it was just me but wife wasn’t fond of her risotto either.
Anyway, I’m not one to complain to staff so we said it was all fine. It’s a nice looking place but I see no reason to ever go back.
I want to take the time to say how much I appreciate Carellis. It’s such a popular spot amongst locals, I usually run into several people I know.
And they stay busy for good reasons. First, the food is outstanding and consistent. I’ve never had a bad meal there. I had the Veal Piccata and my wife had the Pollo Ala Carelli. Both nice portions and delicious. Second, the service is always good. We had a server that said she had only been working there for 2 months, but I would have not guessed it. Everything was very timely and she was delightful.
Another great evening at carellis.
Service and food exceptional as always.
Started with mussels and their amazing garlic bread with a cosmo and a manhattan. Then a perfect kale salad and got a bottle of Amarone.
Entrees were the veal parmigiana and mushroom risotto.
Desert Crepes are back so we finished our night with one.
Love when they have all the windows open it is so Al fresco!!!!
I showed up for my 7:45 reservation on time, and was seated at a table in the patio. Where I sat and sat and sat - waiting. No server ever came to my table. Although in the 20+ minutes while I waited, a server came to the table next to mine 3 times. First to check on their dinner, then to refill their wine glasses, and then to bring them to go boxes.
At 8:10 I got up and went back to the host stand. When I told her that I had not received any service in over 20 minutes, she said “that’s not OK”. I said “no, it’s not”, then walked out and left.
I had made this reservation through OpenTable. Late in the evening. I got an email from OpenTable asking why I was a no show for my reservation. So first I got terrible (well, just no) service. And then to make it so much better, Carelli’s apparently lied to OpenTable and said I didn’t even show up.
I have had take out food from Carelli’s previously, and it was absolutely terrific. I was looking forward to eating at the restaurant for the first time, but after this experience safe to say I won’t be back.
The food was great, and the outdoor patio is spacious and comfortable. (The patio is out front by the parking lot, but doesn't feel like you're in a parking lot at all.) It took maybe 10 minutes to get our drinks, and the server was so apologetic (the drinks came after our appetizers) that they comped them. I would definitely recommend for a nice family dinner or romantic date night.
I've been searching for good Italian food since I moved here 5 years ago, and I'm happy to say this was a good meal. Authentic, imaginative menu. Good service. Very nice cocktails, tasty and strong. Overall a great experience!
I can’t stop thinking about the cheese on the Greek salad. Salad was great and cheese was amazing
Food just wasn’t as good as normal and portions seemed small as compared to past.
The person I was visiting in the area recommended this place. For both if us the experience was poor.
While there was a new person being trained as sever, sadly I hope they learn better than the trainer. We we hurried to place our order in a restaurant that was not busy. Once we placed the order, bread was promised for the table. Within 5 minutes our main dish was served, without the bread. When asked about the bread we were informed that the kitchen was behind on the bread.
As a 'fine' dining establishment, as defined by the cloth napkins, bread should be served much before the entre. The 5 minutes from order to table is an insult to fine dining. To make it worse, the garlic toast points when served were just awful. A 10 year old could have made better bread in a microwave.
NEVER going back.
Food and drinks were good but a little pricey. We enjoyed the patio seating!
Perfect post covid outing..wonderful pasta and salads, perfect cocktails. Enjoyed a lovely out door table and our wait person was friendly and helpful. Easy to park and a great outing with good friend.
Delicious food, nice ambience, friendly upbeat waitress. Overall we thought it was great!
Delicious food and a large menu. Nice options for gluten free, including dessert.
All of our entrees were quite good. Our server was very accomodating. My daughter ordered from the gluten free menu and she was very satisfied. We all ordered desserts which were delicious. One dessert was comped for a birthday girl.
Great food, service, and ambiance. Always a treat to dine here!
Long time favorite. Our waiter (this time) wasn’t as helpful; he seems to have been having a bad day.
Food and wine…great presentation
Lovely meal outside on the deck. Wine to desert very good and relaxing. Nice for a special occasion.
Food was very good as usual. Service was very slow, especially at the end when we waited at least 15 minutes to get boxes to go and receive our bill. Clearly they were either staffed too light, or the staff was not properly directed to ensure good service. Actually, the customer load level was relatively light since we arrived at 5:00 and left at about 6:15.
The cost was very high at $86 for one margarita, one beer, one salad, and two entrees (5 total items). We were able to make a reservation just two hours before arriving which is rare for this restaurant which always has high demand.
Nice , good food, good service
Wonderful evening made great from service through food and wine!
Always a treat!! Great food and attentive service.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
Great food, friendly staff!
One of our favorite restaurants. Always a great experience
Loved the stuffed shells. Ambiance is so nice! So relaxing and glad they are back in the full swing of Friday evenings. Bar full, tables full, people waiting ❤️
The food was delicious. It was served hot and ready to eat. Our table was perfect inside by the window of the patio. Our waitress was courteous and professional. We have eaten at Carrelli’s many times and always enjoy the ambience, the friendly and accommodating staff and of course, the food!
Always a great time! We sat in our favorite area (by the open wall of windows). Amazing kale salad, big enough to share, I had a steak dish which was cooked perfectly and so good. And Carellis is serving dessert crepes again.
Ambiance is always nice at Carelli's! The servers were wonderful, not pushy, not hovering, not hard to find when needed. The chicken marsala was so-so, very bland, did not taste the Marsala wine at all. I've had much better at other restaurants. The arugula salad was good as was my husband's chicken with roasted broccoli. The garlic bread is always delicious and the wine-by-the-glass options are also good. All in all, Carelli's is a good choice for a lovely dinner out.
After reading very positive reviews I booked this restaurant as we happened to be passing through town. First of all, it’s a beautiful restaurant with a lovely patio but it faces the parking lot in a strip mall so you don’t get the kind of audience you would like from an outdoor patio. The biggest disappointment was that I ordered the steak filet Vesuvio, medium, and when I cut into it it was completely raw. The oven-browned potatoes were swimming in a lot of juice and were very soggy and mushy. My daughter had the shrimp scampi and it was average. Overall a big disappointment.
Love this place!!!
Wow, We had an 8:30 reservation on Wednesday night, and the place was busy. Despite this we were sat right away, our server was great. Very attentive and timely. I had the Shrimp Scampi recommended by our server and it was fantastic. My friend had the Salmon Margarita which was also great. The lighting and atmosphere were perfect as the sun was setting on a hot day. Great job Carelli's
