Browns - Bath
Service was efficient and food a good standard however waitress was very clinical and abrupt. Even for just two people they add a 10% surcharge to your bill which according to the footnote is optional. They don't ask when they take payment if you want to opt in. They should out of common courtesy.
Nice venue to meet friends for lunch. Food was basic but good. Service a little slow but good when it was given.
normal, good fare, pleasant ambiance, nothing else to say really
We had a very nice meal with good service, the restaurant was very glamorous and seats comfortable. The menu had good choices available (similar menu to Ivy restaurants). I enjoyed a bramble gin cocktail, whitebait and pork belly.
The food was not so good. I ask for a little of olive oil and the waiter told me that the restaurant has no olive oil at all. The place is nice but nothing special.
Least favourite Browns I have visited the service was not great, the toilets are disgusting. Not what I expect after eating at London and Bristol branches.
Service was far too slow gain. This will be the last time I visit Browns
My guests and I had a wonderful time. However the filet steak could have been more tender. Lovely service with a smile from the manager and our server, and an effort was clearly made to beautify what was formerly the Bath clink. We love Browns but the chef might want to have a look at methods with which to tenderise his steaks to remain consistent with other Browns locations in England. The salmon and salad with chicken were decidedly better than the steak.
Great meal, with great service from James Brodie! A perfect Anniversary dinner - thank you Browns!
Staff and service was really good. Risotto was very poor and lobster was a little rubbery. Rest of the food and drinks were very nice
We had an unusual meal where we ate at 3pm I had sea bream stew which was delicious and my friend had a cream tea .The waitress was very polite and attentive
The venue itself was very very run down and basic. Several customers were so drunk that they needed to be removed from the venue at only 7:30pm. The tables and furniture are mismatched and the atmosphere was that of a Wetherspoons pub. The menu is very expensive when you consider the location you are expected to sit in - we actually decided to leave after being asked to sit at a tiny table with hard chairs backing onto a doorway. Cannot rate the food except based on the pricing and the venue was dirty and in need of renovation so would not expect much better from the food.
Food and service very good, spoilt by raucous group of 14 on adjacent table very loud and foul language. No sign of manager doing anything to control table. Other guests left because of the problem.
Utterly bizarre and unsettling waitress (East Asian lady), making inappropriate comments about her colleagues and other customers. Poor, tepid food.
Very good soup and veggie options. Great service, enjoyed our treat dinner out for four.
Nice setting for a family birthday celebration. Sat upstairs which was a bit quieter than ground floor with atmosphere a little more muted but good for conversation. Starters took a while to arrive but main course delivered promptly. Waiter was polite and attentive. All food was tasty with good portion sizes.
We’ve been to a number of different Browns, this one in Bath is not their best. I had a starter of artichoke hommus, this was pretty good, but unfortunately I followed it with the chicken with bordelaise sauce and frites, a dish I’ve had many times in Browns, both the chicken and fries were over cooked and dry.
A very disappointing experience after reading many positive comments. The food was passable but nothing memorable- extremely average especially for the price. We waited a bit of time for service and the server had to be reminded about a number of things.
We came here for our Anniversary and although we had a nice time the food wasn’t bad but wasn’t good.
Probably other places to visit in Bath before coming back here again.
Located on a quiet nook of beatiful bath, this restaurant is a peaceful find, and has nicely laid out seating outside. The food was OK. One dish in particular was poor, but we were delighted that the request to change was not challenged, and a replacement brought out urgently by the manager with sincere apologies and a token gesture. Big save and proof that great customer service is rewarded by loyalty and positive word of mouth. Thank you, Browns.
3 a la carte courses were successively unavailable, including burger. Not the greatest experience.
Taken to are table on time staff very friendly drinks arrived then we ordered are meals again arrived after a short time food good and well presented good value and good atmosphere
Lovely restaurant, great food and even better cocktails. unfortunately we were sat in the middle of two couples arguing which made our experience uncomfortable but that was no fault of the restaurant.
SOME OF THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECIEVED WITH VERY SUBSTANDARD FOOD. WE RECIEVED THE WRONG MEAL COMPLETELY FOR ONE MEMBER OF OUR PARTY. THE ROAST WAS OVER COOKED, THE SALAD WILTED , THE CHIPS COLD TO NAME BUT A FEW OF THE PROBLEMS AND WE ARE STIL WAITING FOR THE SAUCES THAT WE ASKED FOR 3 TIMES!
HAVING ASKED FOR REPLACEMENT FOOD THAT WAS COLD WE WAITED A FURTHER 10-15MINS WHEN I TALKED TO THE MANAGER ABOUT THE POOR SERVICE AND ASKED HIM TO RECTIFY IT HE DID SO BY SENDING A JUNIIOR WAITRESS WITH THE REPLACEMENT FOOD ABOUT ANOTHER 5 MINUTES LATER! HE MADE NO ATTEMPT TO CHECK ALL WAS WELL WITH US DESPITE COMING TO THE NEXT TABLE.
ALL IN ALL A VERY DISSAPOINTING EXPERIENCE FOR MY ELDERLY MOTHER ON MOTHERS DAY.
Just rubbish food, I had pasta which was pretty much pasta with mushroom juice!
I wouldn't order this ever again and I did mention it to the waiter at the time.
Really friendly staff and our waitress was excellent. Food was amazing and we'll definitely be back for more.
We stayed in bath for our anniversary and had a meal here. Steak was amazing
Close to Roman baths. Servic was great. First of was very good. We we would stop in again.
We have eaten in a number of Brown's restaurants before and have always enjoyed our meals. This occasion was no different and our waitress for the evening was really excellent, she helped the evening go really well and was helpful and pleasant throughout our stay.
Never been disappointed with Browns, have eaten in a few of their restaurants in different locations, second time in this one. The food is good and the location excellent in the centre of bath near the abbey. The service was great, our waitress was so lovely and really friendly and welcoming.
Waiting staff and chef were wonderful, doing all they could to accommodate our timing and needs.
Booked last minute for an early dinner with friends. Good wide selection on the menu - most of us went for the summer special - £19.95 for 2 courses plus a drink. Service attentive and friendly. Its been a few years since my last visit and the interior has been revamped to a high standard - however they must have run out of budget as the toilets are pretty awful!
Very warm welcome and friendly staff including the Chinese manager ( she will understand the reference) amazing inventive pork belly dish . We all had such a lovely time and there was no pressure to leave at all
Standard Browns fare. We were eating early before the theatre and courses came a little too quickly after each other but this was fine. We then ordered dessert (ice cream) which we had to cancel because of the slow service. Go figure!!!
Had a great meal here last weekend. Service was very attentive, and food was excellent - plenty of it also.
