Food was hit or miss. Service is truly terrible. Inattentive and borderline rude. Complained to the management and they told us to try another night that’s not Valentine’s Day...Gnocchi with cheese sauce was delicious I have to say and the highlight of the meal. But not enough to warrant another visit all things considered.
Food was average, waiter was unfriendly and didn't know the menu
Good ambiance, food was today.
Food and service was absolutely fantastic, however it felt crowded and was loud. Although being Valentine's Day might explain why it was loud and crowded.
Great ambiance, Staff, Place to take a Date, Varied Entrees
Don’t come here when its cold, no heat
We were there to celebrate multiple occasions including our Anniversary & Valentine’s Day. It was my first time there and my Girlfriend’s favorite lunch spot. The restaurant was beautifully designed with a modern and rustic look with some original features. The staff & service was excellent. Nikki was very helpful and attentive. The food was delicious and well balanced. I’ll definitely be back for dinner soon.
Excellent food and service. The restaurant has very high ceilings so it’s quite loud
Went here on a Saturday night to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It was packed but we got a round table towards the back, so it was good. Our server was in charge of the whole area, so she wasn’t as attentive. She even tapped her foot while waiting for our orders and at one point, she took our appetizer plates without asking if we were done (I was but my friend wasn’t). But all that took a backseat because the food was delicious. The beef cheeks were very tender; pork shanks was a good portion and tasty; donuts was yummy! I’ve gone here for lunch many times and the service was excellent. So I’m hoping that the poor service that night was an exception and not the norm.
I was disappointed. Just not one of my favorites here in downtown
Loved the place, and the food was creative and fantatic
Service was attentive; not invasive and the food was superb. Drinks were good but not as outstanding as the food. There was noise, but not to the point where it impeded having a normal level conversation. I live in the Arts District and Brera has become my go to when I want to treat a client or my wife to an excellent dinner with great ambiance.
This is an excellent, high-end restaurant serving innovative and delicious rustic Italian food. The meats are choice cuts and prepared marvelously, and there are fabulous vegetarian and seafood options if meats aren't your thing. The ambiance is soaring ceilings, concrete floors, beams--Arts District flair made gracious and elegant. This is a go-to restaurant for my business dinners downtown.
Bland salads, over cooked and dry fish, flavorless risotto. VERY DISAPPOINTING
Great space; great staff all around. Food wasn't as good as last few times, but that's neither here or there. We shall return.
Food lacked flavor and overpriced. Duck ravioli with truffle was bland and could not even taste the duck. The best food was the dessert semifreddo with nuts and sour cherry.
Excellent food and service!
The food was underwhelming considering the price. We had the pork bruschetta which I thought had too many ingredients and was soggy. The pappardelle with pesto was fantastic. Beef cheeks were very tender and flavorful but my friend did not like the fattiness. I might return but only if in the area for something else. The restaurant is beautiful. $8 valet parking pricey but convenient.
The service was incredibly slow and the food is wayyyy overpriced.
Visited for Dine LA and felt that the course selection was not their best. DineLA is an opportunity to try new places and also an opportunity for the restaurant to put its best foot forward. In hindsight I should have ordered off of the menu. Additionally I used a $100 Amex gift card and the manager said only $84 went through. When I called AMEX they informed me that the restaurant kept $16 as a service fee. Not honest at all as I still tipped 20%.
Ambiance and service were excellent, but food did not measure up to prior visits. Octopus was great, as was beet salad , grilled Caesar ,and pork shank. .Gnocchi and pisarelli were good; green risotto was bland and nougatine desert unremarkable.
Perhaps, if you’re only looking to meet up and have drinks with someone then I would recommend coming here. However, for an overall dining experience... not so much.
The place has a minimalist vibe, jazz music blaring out of the speakers (which I, personally, do not mind). The food was mediocre — the bruschetta HERE was probably one of the most distasteful dishes I have had, very bland and presentation left much to be desired. As for the pasta and ravioli, it was average. I feel like I have made better pasta dishes at home from scratch and I fully admit that I have very little experience making it but plenty trying it. I can see why Bestia has its grip tight in terms of Italian cuisine in the arts district. The competition is practically non-existent.
This is quality food in an interesting building. There was a miscue with dirty / sandy seat in our booth. It was corrected.
We went to lunch for Dine LA. Everything was wonderful - food, service. I would definitely go back. A lovely restaurant. Plus they have a parking lot!
Fantastic restaurant - wonderful service, incredible food, very cool ambiance, open concept kitchen
Fantastic as always. Matteo is the perfect host and has an OUTSTANDING restaurant. The food and service are always first class!
I love the space and our server was terrific. Very attentive and fun. The food disappointed. I had the dover sole. The sole was prepared as a whole fish and then fileted. I thought the dish was greasy. The Octopus appetizer was not bad, but it was not anything to write home about either. The steamed calamari salad was excellent.
Officine BRERA is a wonderful restaurant. The food is fabulous and innovative. The ambiance is fun and interesting. The service is excellent. The location can be difficult to get to as it is in the Arts District and, with traffic, can take time to drive there. That said, it is worth the drive.
Love the menu, design of the space, the ambience is good, but we think we were seated in the corner because we were 15 mins late from our reservation. I explained that it was because my wife is pregnant and she wasn't feeling well for a bit, and was hoping that we wouldn't lose our original spot. Otherwise, everything else was great.
Maybe it was a mistake to go during Dine LA week - although we didn't get anything from the DineLA menu - but I was really disappointed in the meal. We had chicken liver mousse, tagliatelle with lobster, ricotta dumplings, and risotto with bone marrow. The chicken liver mousse was in croquettes, and was very livery. I mean, I recognize that's in the name, but it's usually smoother and more subtle. The ricotta dumplings were good. They were in a little bit of sauce that had some short rib or similar beef in it; I find short rib kind of boring but it was solid. I thought overall the dish was tasty but a lot of soft, warm. creamy items and nothing to contrast them. The risotto was poorly cooked. When a high end Italian place is turning out mediocre risotto, there's a problem. The one real success was the tagliatelle. It was a cocoa pasta with lobster and langoustine, and I was curious about that unusual combination - well, it worked. It was the kind of interesting mix of flavors and textures I was expecting form the entire meal. The doughnut dessert was forgettable, with average donuts and a very sweet caramel sauce. Again, perhaps because of Dine LA they were focused on those menu items, but come on. At this price point, the kitchen needs to be on its game regardless. I won't be back.
Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, Food was well prepared the lobster coca pasta, as well as, the branzino albeit 20oz (best to share) but chef was kind enough to do a smaller cut for my solo outing. both entrees were very good. I would pass on the fish croquettes, odd presentation and not all that memorable. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the parking lot is huge. Bar staff also were very friendly and knowledgeable.
We were in the area and wanted to skip rush hour so though we’d grab food while traffic died down. Officine BRERA always has delicious food, and pretty much everyone - from hosts, to managers, to the man who poured our water- was extremely warm and made extra efforts to ensure we enjoyed our experience.
Fish and vegetables were perfectly cooked, and octopus appetizer was really tasty.
Great food, and service. Management was very friendly.
Very quiet went on a Sunday afternoon. Food was great and super filling. Definitely recomend the pappardelle with goose.
Never disappointed. Brought some out of town friends for dinner. Everything was perfect. The food was outstanding, the best gnocchi in town, the risotto with bone marrow was awesome! The service was great. It was one of those nights where the stars are aligned.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance when you enter. The bar area to wait for your table is narrow and may be uncomfortable if you are a large group waiting for a table. The service may be more attentive.
Beautiful restaurant and fantastic wine. But the pork shank was terrible. Under salted and somehow dry, with a flavorless gravy that did almost nothing to help. The meat tasted of hard water.
The grilled octopus was chewy and seasonless.
The best salad was redeeming and had a delicious soft cheese that we couldn’t get enough of.
Service was great, but I would not eat here again.
Very delicious food in a beautiful space. Opt for the main dining room as the 'private room' or maybe back room lost a little of the energy of the main room. Great mixed drinks as well.
Went for a birthday and had great food and service. Appetizers are quick and delicious. We all got something different for main course including the nightly special and all were superb. Can't wait to go back
