   Everything was excellent. The only disappointment was the size and price of one of the small plates. The 3 baked oysters on the plate were more of an amuse bouche and were twice as expensive as comparable oyster dishes in other restaurants. Other than that, it was an excellent experience.

   The food was good, but I was not amazed. And at that price point and with that reputation, I expected to be amazed. Portions were on the smaller side. My cavatelli only had 4 small pieces of shrimp and it was also room temperature on delivery. Perhaps they were waiting on my husband’s steelhead trout, but in that case, the kitchen should have had better time management and planning. Food should be hot when it arrives. We had an event to get to, hence the 5:30 reservation, so there was no time to deal with it.

   One of our favorites in RVA! We’re from Baltimore, but love to come to Brenner Pass when here visiting family. Proud to introduce my in-laws to Brenner Pass last night. It’s definitely unlike any others in the region, and the rich flavors (from focaccia & cocktails right through inventive mains and the pistachio financier) are a genuine privilege to enjoy!

   A true seasonal menu is always a treat for us, and we go back week after week just to see -- TASTE, actually -- what has changed. We are never disappointed. Always something new or tweaked to try, and the same friendly-but-professional service and a fresh palette of interesting flavors and textures to try.

    Nothing like our past experience. Very noisy, hard to hear person across the table. Waiter cold & no flexibility in menu. Paid $46 for three scallops & side of potatoes. Oysters tasted funny and were expensive. Sea bass not available. Did not get itemized receipt.

    One of our favorite restaurants in Richmond, and that is a high bar! A delicious and creative rotating menu that has always delivered every time we've visited. Don't sleep on their cocktails either! The professional and personable staff along with the fantastic food makes every visit a memorable one.

    We have had wonderful meals in the past at Brenner Pass, but unfortunately, our experience last night wasn’t great. There were six of us dining. We had 3 appetizers to start, and all were good. Cocktails were good also. Four of us ordered the sea bass in a broth. The fish portions were small, there was a tiny bit of cooked onion and a few pea shoots on top, so not impressive. However, it was the broth that was NOT good. It was extremely salty-basically no flavor other than salt. All 4 of us thought so and when the waitress came over I said the fish dish is really salty. She smiled and said, “Okay, I’ll tell the chef not to add any more salt”. I would have left mine uneaten except for the fact that is was a $30 dish. We all ate the fish, leaving the broth as it was just too salty to ingest. We did have dessert, which did not disappoint. Overall, if this had been my first visit to Brenner Pass, it would have been my last.

    Underwhelmed with this restaurant. I was excited to try it out as I'd heard great things, but noise and small portion on my meal combined with high prices made it just ok. I got the black sea bass and honestly I was hungry still after eating. Was a tiny piece of fish atop an onion. Had some broth in the bowl and was overwhelmed with saltiness. Although my husband had the burger which was ok and plenty of food. And my friend had a great lamb gnocchi. Oysters were delicious and they made great drinks. I'm not rushing to go back simply because it was very expensive for what we got. I've had better meals for much less.

    As usual, a brilliant spring menu with vibrant flavors, colors, and textures. Lots of options to try, plenty to mix and match. The conundrum is whether to order *that amazing thing* again or sample something new. Or both. Like no other place in Richmond, always terrific and always something new.

    Overall we walked away from our dinner underwhelmed for how much we paid. We were able to make a reservation late, but were rushed for our orders because the kitchen was closing. I wish they didn't let you make a reservation that late, or at least make us aware. The atmosphere was very loud, but nicely decorated. The server was good, food was ok, but I don't think we will be returning.

    I have been wanting to try this restaurant after hearing good things from other friends and reviews. Everything we ordered was delicious including the garnish on one of the dishes that we requested more of. Excellent food and excellent service!

    Our waiter was great—very patient about explaining the many Italian words and recommending pairings. Our food was beautifully presented and delicious. Everything was nice … but I don’t know that we will go back. The vibe is kind of industrial which leads to noise — not a lot of atmosphere or much of a view. It didn’t feel special enough to warrant the prices.

    Went to Brenner Pass for my wife’s birthday, and ultimately walked away very underwhelmed. The service was mediocre, with the waiter only stopping by a couple times and adding nothing to the experience, and we both walked away hungry since the portions are so small. The food was tasty, but don’t go here unless you’re ok spending $200 and stopping for snacks on the way home.

    Brenner Pass is absolutely one of the premier restaurants in Virginia. The menu includes frequent diner favs like the burger and fondue; but it also includes seasonally inspired starters and entrees that are fabulous. For example the fried oysters had next level crispy, light exteriors with juicy oyster interiors - some of the very best we’ve ever had. The sea scallop entree was a revelation - huge scallops that were pan sautéed to achieve a perfect crust with tender juicy interiors and the citrusy sauce a perfect contrast. The black sea bass cooked to perfection and served with a smoky shrimp broth - worth a trip just to enjoy this dish. The cocktails are delightful. Topping off the experience are the restaurant staff members who were - to a person - welcoming, accommodating, knowledgeable and service oriented. But most importantly the staff are genuinely caring and want each diner to have the best possible experience.

    We arrived on time for my boyfriend’s birthday reservation and they went out of their way to write a card for him! We got the fondue starter and even though it was supposed to be for 4-6 people, we crushed it! The dipping assortment was varied and that spicy mustard was fire! He got the scallop entre and I got the sea bass. My little bite of his scallop was like butter. My sea bass dish was layered exquisitely with thin fried onions on top, a few fresh greens, and the fish atop whole caramelized onions and a shrimp broth. My dish had a medium to high salinity level, which I actually really liked. We got the peach cobbler dessert with peach ice cream on top, served with a lit candle! Our drinks were delicious and my dry gin martini paired well with my food. Our server, Katrina was great as well. Overall excellent experience!

    Excellent service and attention to detail. Always great ambiance. Drinks were tasty as were the main dishes and desserts. The charcuterie board needs improvement. Only two meats and two cheeses and a bunch of fillers. Other than that, the place is great and definitely worth the visit and return trips.
