Always a great meal! Boulevard has been around for years and is always consistent in food and service. Great place for lunch in SF! Dana, our server, was both pleasant and professional. Enjoyed Ahi Tuna Tartare, Potato and Sunchoke Ravioli, Petrale Sole and DUNGENESS Crab Salad. Highly recommended. Not a cheap ticket, but worth every penny!!
It was my first time back to Boulevard in a decade. I have to say I was underwhelmed. Nothing at all was wrong, so no complaints, but everything was just average. The dishes were a mix of good (scallops) to bland and uninspiring (sole) with the lamb somewhere in the middle. For a dinner bill that was over $100/pp without wine, I’d expect better. I want to say wow about something. For the price, there are so many other superior options and the service was just okay, not attentive. Go for the iconic experience. If you want a knock your socks off meal and service at that price point look elsewhere.
One of our best meals ever. Don't know why we don't think of Boulevard more often. Each course was perfect.
Absolutely wonderful. Service excellent. We felt well taken care of throughout the meal.
A terrific evening in every respect....the asparagus/crab starter was wonderful. My wife's risotto was beautifully presented, light and delicious. My Petrale Sole was awesome. Boulevard is just great...consistently excellent. A must visit spot in downtown SF.
This restaurant never disappoints. Fresh ingredients excellent service.
I have already sent an email to the reservation of the restaurant. I find the pork main course dish a little too raw inside the meat, it didn't happen last time when I got the same dish. I have to leave a lot of meat behind because, as the cook probably knows, pork meat should be eaten well done and not pink. Also the service was basic, the waiter was old and serious I asked to ge a picture of our four and he said: I am here to serve and not to take pictures, sure things but it was a courtesy that he could do to guests.
I am not too sure I will return to Boulevard because the Jardiniere has improved a lot .
Food is quite good. Very good preparation of main courses. Fresh, high quality meats and fish. Deserts were so-so, and I've had much better beet salad. Top flight wine list, but priced a bit high. Corkage is unreasonable at $40 per.
Wonderful, interesting food, great ambiance and decor, and terrific service!
Boulevard is simply one of my favorite restaurants in SF. From the physical restaurant (floor, ceiling, mosaic floor in the bar, decor) to the food to the service, it is a totally delicious experience. While expensive, the value is clear. Great for special occasions, business, intimate dates, and wowing out of town guests. From appetizer through dessert, everything was a hit. I had the pleasure of taking two folks who had never been (a personal thank you for their work) and both thoroughly delighted.
Delicious meal but very expensive.
Great as always, everyone I take there love the place. Food is marvelous and the servers really take care of you.
We came here as our first stop for dinner in San Francisco. The restaurant is well reviewed, but it was also recommended to me by a friend. We came early but they we able to seat us. Our waiter, Hunter, was very nice and helpful with recommendations. They have a great list of cocktails and wine. We started with the sea scallops with some champagne. They were great I'm glad we tried them. We both had the pork chop which is what it seems people know them for. It was great, the best pork chop I have had for sure. Our waiter brought a wine to try that he suggested paired well with the pork which was nice since we didn't even have to ask for it. He was right it was a great choice. Everything was great I'd recommend then to anyone. I'm glad we tried it.
NOT EVERYTHING IMPROVES WITH AGE.
To begin, you cannot go wrong here, the environment (and the prices) are high end. Service is spot on. And clients always love it. But as a very long time Boulevard diner, I sense a bit of luster is gone.
To begin, a $20 martini was almost worth the two cheesy stuffed olives! I like to sit back and take in the trend-setting interior design, especially the 3 different ceiling treatments.
The $22 octopus starter was lovely, if a wee bit sparse. My wife's halibut seemed dry to me altho she loved it, and my pork chop lacked the crisp edge and juicy finish of prior years...at $42, I want to say 'Wow!' but couldn't.
Perhaps Boulevard's sister restaurant, Prospect, almost around the corner, deserves your next visit.
If you have always wanted to go to Boulevard and have never been, or if has been a while since your last visit, or if you are only in town for 24 hours and want a guaranteed sublime experience, then book a table right now! There are too many superlatives to describe an evening at Boulevard. It's like eating in a really classy friends' home, who has a killer wine cellar and lets you linger and enjoy the night. The room itself is a dream, the food incredible, the service impeccable, and the experience worth every bit of their Michelin rating. Yes, it can be pricey. Lunch is one way to make it a little easier on the wallet. But if you have a truly special occasion and you want to experience the best that San Francisco has to offer, then Boulevard is the place. Peter the manager will make you feel like an old friend, the sommelier will make you feel like you are smart and have wonderful ideas, and if you have Arianna as a server, you will feel like you made a new friend. We can't wait for our next visit.
The food is deliciously prepared and creatively presented. Though we didn't order dessert, we were given a plate of wrapped caramels and other fruit jelly candies and a piece of white chocolate saying happy birthday. It was my friends BD. Sweet and celebratory!
Dinner was phenomenal!
Old school San Francisco @ it’s finest!
Amazing food. Every dish well thought out. Service just OK though.
OMG we had such a fantastic dinner! it was a birthday celebration for my mother and the staff
gave us a terrific table, greated the birthday girl at the door(!) and even thought of a birthday card.
Many thanks to everyone.
Fabuloso!!!! The best spot in SF for a romantic dinner!
I’ve been wanting to try Boulevard for years and finally got there for a birthday celebration. It didn’t disappoint. We had fantastic service from the time we came through the door. Everyone was friendly and efficient. We sat in a roomy booth and were attended to by an outstanding waitress. She helped make the meal special with attentive but not intrusive service. I took her recommendation and had the pork chop which was juicy and delicious. My husband had lamb and our daughter had fish. Both raved about their meal. We were too full for dessert but our server brought a little ice cream bite with a candle as it was my birthday. This was a perfect ending for a fabulous dinner. We will definitely be back soon.
A consistently delicious experience. I always love the setting and decor as they just add so much charm to the experience. The bustle of the exposed kitchen is great as well. Service was attentive and professional without being stuffy. We love to visit for special occasions.
Boulevard is the best overall restaurant in the city as far as we are concerned. They continue to be consistent with every aspect of your experience.
Still the iconic classic SF restaurant. Got to sit at the Chef’s bar, Desire was our outstanding server. We ordered the lamb chop and filet mignon, both prepared expertly. They were very nice to give us a little birthday celebration. All in all, Boulevard is vintage but still a landmark well worth the visit.
There are few places I can recommend where I can assure that everyone in your party will be happy. This is the one. Stellar location, ask for bayside table, but the fun crowd is nearer to front door and lounge. Choose from Elephant gin to Neyers Chardonnay or halibut and lamb. There are no dissappointments. Beef is stellar too, but the sauces and intricate vegetable combinations are the thing. I went when they opened and never stopped. Strawberry rhubarb cheesecake anyone?
One of my favorite restaurants in SF, but the lunch menu is not as good as dinner & the service was efficient, but quite cool. We got there just as they were opening for lunch & no one broke from the staff meeting to greet us, , so we sat at the bar. The bartender never even said hello and no one came to greet us when the meeting broke. If I’m going to spend $200 on a lunch, I expect acknowledgement that I am there & friendly service.
They called the day of dinner to "confirm your reservation", then kept us waiting 15 minutes for a table for two when we arrived on time as confirmed. Food not us good as it was regularly in the past, and prices are higher than ever -- up with there with the tops in town. It's feeling more and more like a high-end tourist factory and less like the consistent, mixed crowd place it used to be.
A great vibrant restaurant with attentive, friendly and helpful staff. Always feels like a special occasion having dinner here.
My daughter, her partner and my wife took me there for my birthday - and we had no complaints.
I even received my Manhattan in my favorite glass: The "Nick and Nora", which was originally served to me
on a previous birthday, many years ago.
We were given a table overlooking the Embarkadaro, the food was, for the most part, great (I didn't care for
my Halibut - but that's me! No one else was even slightly disappointed. We come here often when we are in town visiting our daughter, mostly for the ambiance, the food, the atmosphere, the wait staff - and we always
get to sit at the bar at least once during our stay - and the bartenders are all topnotch!
The service was impeccable and the food was delicious, showing great attenion to detail and creativity. each plate was beauifully set with interesting accents of local seasonal foods. it would have made Alice Waters proud. It is a noisy place but luckily we were shown to a wonderful quiet table that was terrific for a date night.
Service was unusually slow that night, you could tell that they were struggling on A Sunday night.
Food is always good but I was absolutely starving g but the time it reached my plate. We had to skip dessert because honestly I Gould not take another hour of sitting.
Everything was wonderful from the time we walked in to the time we left. Service and food was outstanding. Best dinner this year so far.
Seriously one of the BEST meals that I have had in a looooong time. The squid appetizer was unbelievably delicious, the best quid that I have EVER had. Just the right balance of tastes and a moderate portion for sharing, but not too much.
The angus filet was well prepared, juicy and tender. Timed perfectly, even considering that my date and I ordered different preparations for the steak.
My boyfriend chose the dessert, because it was his birthday celebration. I deferred to his selection, reluctantly...... However, the Profiterole sundae was Ahhh-MAZING. Yes, that is a sundae with caramel popcorn and hot fudge sauce with chocolate profiteroles on the bottom. I know, I know, it sounds super sweet and perhaps unsophisticated? Five nights later, I am typing this review, and still reflecting on how delicious this dessert was in taste, texture, and complexity. The onsite pastry chef deserves some recognition for this creation.
The price for meal for 2 was very reasonable, especially considering that Boulevard SF has been honored with receiving James Beard and Michelin star recognitions. The ambience was cozy, yet had an air of liveliness, making it appropriate for various occasions from romantic to business to family dining. I have lived in the Bay Area for 20 years, and I am kicking myself for delaying my first experience at Boulevard until now. Top FIVE from a well traveled foodie.
One of long time favorite restaurants.
The concierge at my hotel suggested this place and it did not disappoint! If there is one thing I didn’t like about this restaurant, it was the small tables. They just arent big enough for two people to dine comfortably—forget the additions of wine on the table!
We ordered the burrata salad—incredibly fresh and flavorful. Then came the filet and the daily ravioli and scallops. The scallops were good. The ravioli was great. Skipped dessert because we were just too darn full. Can’t wait to go back.
Everything was very very good. I had the Alantic wild halibut and my girlfriend brought up a good point. How come does the restaurants serve wild Atlantic halibut when it supposed to be not fish for ?
But let me tell you it was so good..
Excellent service and food. Wine recommendation was professional.
Loved this place. The service was good with an experienced and knowledgeable server . Quality of food was excellent. I ordered lamb and a salad. Their wine list is extensive and great. Will definitely recommend.
