Julia was excellent and the whole staff was extremely friendly. The food was great and the tepache mules are wonderful.
Bar area was fun - great margaritas. There were lots of bartenders and servers and extra help - very well run restaurant and excellent chef - food was super fresh and so good. We will be back!
Great food, service and drinks in a very cool place.
Staff works like a family. Everyone is go nice and down to earth. Food was amazing.
Our server was great, he was attentive and provided us with thoughtful suggestions for food and beverages.
Went there on a Saturday and brought the family back on Sunday! My new fave Mexican restaurant. Each person/server was very passionate about the restaurant. We will be back soon.
Delicious food and nice ambiance made for a nice dining experience. Overall our group thought highly of the meal and would return. Plate presentation was lovely. Truly picture perfect. The music selections fit the vibe of the place. While loud enough sing along to, the music wasn't so loud that you couldn't have a conversation with your tablemates.
Only a few drawbacks. First, there was no notice you could park in the lot across the street until you were already in the restaurant at the hostess station. Second, you needed to settle your bar tab before heading to your table it wasn't transferable. Lastly, the carne asada was overly salty. Though that might just be personal preference.
An en excellent menu and outstanding service. Sheer curtains separate the bar from the dining area which creates an element of privacy but does allow the noise level to be a bit higher than I’d like. Convenient off street parking directly across the street. We are DEFINITELY coming back to try more of the menu. Good place.
A solid experience overall - delicious food; great specials and deals (taco Tuesday is a must-visit day); great atmosphere; friendly staff.
We've been wanting to go to Bitter Honey for a while and it didn't disappoint. Drinks were great, the bartender was engaging and entertaining, food was incredible. We all had tocos which were good, but the star of the show was the street corn which should not be missed. We will definitely be back, and highly recommend Bitter Honey for a great night out.
This was our first visit and we will definitely be back. The food was outstanding and the service was fantastic! My only comment is the lighting is too low. It was almost impossible to read the menu once they lowered the lights. I understand you're trying to create a "mood" - but having to switch on your cell phone flashlight to read the menu, ruins the mood!
We really enjoyed the Drunken Shrimp and the tortilla chips were by far the best I've ever had. Yes, you have to pay for them - but these did not come out of a bag. FRESH, HOT AND CRISPY!! Perfection.
Everything was good except for the cocktails which were just average. Other than that it was a pleasant experience and we will be back!
Love the vibe/ atmosphere. Drinks are delish. 3 rd visit here, first two were great, 3rd was ok. Waitress was great, but did forget Birthday cupcake for our out of town guest. Tacos are delicious, but size of an app.
Chile Relleno barely warm, not much flavor.
Mexicali bowl was on par w/Chipotle, which is good but I expect more from BH. Street corn was dry. We’ll try again sometime.
Such a chick place right next to the Public Market. Amazing Mexican style food and great margaritas! It's always a great time at Bitter Honey!
Friendly staff, food came to the table right away, great atmosphere. Drinks were a little slow and a little pricy but really delicious.
Great food, great service, great place. Wish we would have gone sooner as this was our first time. But we'll definitely be going back!
The food and service were excellent. Would definitely return!
Fantastic fresh farm to table food. Our waiter knew everything about the menu and drinks. One of the best places in Rochester I have eaten. Very hipster yet anything goes!
Definitely coming back - soon!
Absolutely spectacular!! The subtlety and sophistication of the flavor pairings and execution was exquisite. And yet did not detract from the simplicity of the dishes.
Great food, great service. A little loud, but to be expected on a saturday eve. High top seating was a little awkward for us, but we had a great time and will return. Worth adding "outdoor/patio" seating to options for reservations.
We had a wonderful time this past weekend at dinner. Can't wait to revisit later this month!
Food and drinks fantastic. Service was great too very friendly. Definitely going back.
I can’t say enough how nice every worker I came into contact was. From the host, to the bartenders, to the waiter. They made the night very enjoyable. The food and drinks were great, as well. The nachos are amazing. It’s a dish that I know I’ll be craving.
great place...great people working there.....great service!!!!!
Server was excellent and the food was awesome! We will definitely be going back!!
Server Julie was perfect , she allowed us to think on our order. Food came quickly and was absolutely delicious. Music for dining room could be more Spanish / Mexican themed though overall excellent dining experience.
Awesome tacos on Taco Tuesday!!
Food was good. Portion size of the entrees was relatively small. Service was exceptional.
Staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the restaurant.
Loved the decor and the food was fantastic! Would definitely go back!
This was my first visit to Bitter Honey for dinner and likely my last. Though the food was tasty, I didn't find it a good value for the money spent. I ordered the plate of 3 enchiladas. They were very small and they won't mix the proteins. They were not worth the $16 price paid. Also, the queso with chorizo was very underwhelming and not worth $12. There was very little chorizo in the mix for an added $3. Overall, I'd visit again for cocktails on the patio, but not for food.
I've tried most of the Mexican restaurants in Rochester, and Bitter Honey has the best margaritas in town -- by far. (By them by the bottle for the best value.) Probably also one of the few that grinds their own masa, makes their tortillas in house, and goes for bright, fresh, and authentically Mexican flavors (and some inventive ones, too). Try the chiles rillenos and ceviche -- and don't forget Taco Tuesday, where every taco is just $3.
I’ve been here in the past and the service was great but this past visit was very slow. They also changed the tostada but didn’t change the menu yet and it was not as good as it used to be.
the food was good, the service was the worst i've ever experienced at a restauant and the noise level was way to loud for a nice dinner
Fun place! We started with a "Flight of Salsas" which was clever way of letting us taste 3 different kinds. Served with just baked and tasty tortilla chips. Finished with 4 different and original tacos. Even with 2 drinks the final bill was quite moderate.
The food was super tasty, and the cocktails were great, so no complaints there. However, it took quite a while to be seated (we had a reservation), and for any service. Once we did order, there was a problem with it - they brought our entre before the appetizer. We told them to just forget the appetizer at that point since it had been a while. We heard the two people next to us that their order was wrong too. The service staff was pleasant and helpful, but it seems like this could have been a more organized operation.
First time at Bit of Honey. We all enjoyed our food. The house special margarita was excellent. My rioja enchiladas seemed more Italian than Mexican as the sauce tasted more like a marinara sauce than a traditional enchilada sauce. My two dining companions said the mole sauce for their enchiladas was excellent.
The tacos were very authentic as well as the chorizo. I hear the ceviche is good but it wasn’t available when we went. The salsa is very bland with very few ingredients except tomatoes. The green salsa was very watery. The drinks were great. The waiter was quite good but it took a little while to pick up the check. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Salsa flight wasn’t too great this time, very watery, still tasted good though. The troubling part is, if you make a bad batch, why would you serve it? Kinda dumb on the Chefs part.
