Great restaurant for a special dining evening. Food (tasting menu) was first class. Service was impeccable. Management came to the table appropriately and warmly. Outside of the location, it was a very impressive and distinctive experience.
The food at Bibou is consistently excellent -- from the canapes to the dessert and everything in between. It is is classic French based on very fresh seasonal ingredients. Our meal started with a tasty, chilled fresh pea soup and finished with a beautiful rhubarb souffle. The service was well-paced, friendly and professional. Chef Pierre Calmels emerged from the kitchen to visit with us at the end of the meal. A visit to Bibou makes any occasion a special occasion.

Bibou continues to be one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. While some patrons do not like tasting menus we relish them. When a chef like Pierre wants to make a meal for us, we just sit back and enjoy!
This was our 5th trip to Bibou and it did not disappoint! Chef Pierre's culinary skills are reason enough to visit Philadelphia and our last visit was for just that. Between his cooking and my cellar, it's a fantastic evening!
Amazing dinner! One of the best meals that I have ever had. Beautiful presentation, quality ingredients and relaxing ambience. This is definitely a highlight of the Philly food scene.
We went to Bibou to celebrate a special birthday. All four of us are foodies and enjoy this type of dining experience. Although there was no one dish that blew our socks off, we were impressed with the inventiveness, presentation and overall uniqueness. The braised neck of lamb was divine!

We have been looking forward to “dining” leisurely in a top notch restaurant. Bibou was definitely the place. The ambiance, service and quiet decor were superb. We were served seven excellent courses with something to”amuse” ourselves in the beginning of the meal. The foie gras was marvelous as was the lamb and rabbit. Loved the local cheese and dessert. Bread was continually served throughout the meal and it was delicious. They now take credit cards and are on Open Table but be prepared to pay a lot - $115pp - but it was well worth the experience. Remember to bring wine. This is a BYOB restaurant and we brought two bottles of bordeaux

Outstanding food and service. Menu was amazingly creative and absolutely delicious. The menu here changes every week as the chef continues to innovate and does not repeat old menus. This week was a fantastic menu involving two preparations of Wagyu beef - one in burgundy the other simply seared, a translucent dream of a duck consommé, a playful and rich plate of crayfish, chicken mousse and morel mushrooms, and a roulade of smoked bluefish surrounding a beet and pike purée. Next week’s menu is going to be completely different. Ingredients are seasonal and creative. Service is warm and engaging without being fussy. Completely relaxing and convivial atmosphere with the most amazing food! The chef comes to visit each table after the meal and is a lovely person. Approaching their 10 year anniversary this team is firing on all cylinders. This is likely the best restaurant in Philadelphia.

Needless to say but I love BIBOU! Great space, great food and since I can't go to Lyon everyday I go to BIBOU occasionally. We will return and recommend it to others.
One of the best meals I have had in the US! My husband is a foodie who likes to go hunting for Michelin starred restaurants all over the world and this meal was perfection. The sole with bone-in with a sauce diable, a pea purée and fiddleheads was perfectly balanced, the foie gras with the hazelnut emulsion and date and arabica glazes and a sautéed green tomato was the best we’ve ever eaten, as were the lapin and the white chocolate souffle! But throughout the eight course meal, the portions were just right as were the flavors. A true gem in South Philly, not to be missed! As it is BYOB, we had taken a bottle of Vosne Romanee and the Burgundy was just the right wine to pair with this tasting menu.
Love Bibou. We were celebrating a birthday. Never disappointed! Book early. We sat at the counter and thorough enjoyed the evening.

Really wonderful, as always. Our favorite restaurant in the city and with good reason. The service is top-notch- professional but always welcoming and gracious. There is an understated grace and ease to every aspect of this restaurant. Chef Calmels is a gentleman and a culinary artist whose menu is always on point. His cooking is is unpretentious, yet delicious. A real balance of character, flavor and deceptive complexity in every bite. Magnificent!
Best restaurant experience in Philadelphia, and while it's a lot of money $115/pp before tax/tip, it's a BYO, portion-size is reasonable, and you get out for much less than most of its (few) competitors. It's traditional French though not excessively heavy or heavily reliant on sauces. Just great, refined, fresh and varied flavors. Staff has been there forever, so it's familiar and consistent, and I've never had a bad bite.
Intimate and cozy, this spot is a fine dining gem without the pretentiousness or fuss.

Positively spectacular. Many courses that are just the right amount and served on plates that are right temp for the food. We were almost speechless and it is a BYOB restaurant. A+ all the way!
It is always a pleasure to dine at Bibou. The meal was well composed and thoughtfully flavored. The staff affable and attentive, but not overwhelming. The Chef graciously stops by the table to say hello and chats briefly. It really was a fantastic experience. A wonderful evening.
