What Insiders Are Saying
For Italian in Los Angeles, it doesn't get any better than the Arts District's Bestia, This isn't dinner, it's an experience.
Great ambience, great service
It was just whatevs. Food was mediocre, nothing stood out. I wouldn't go back.
Everyone was very attentive and our waiter made great suggestions. Food was fresh and it was quite an enjoyable meal. Would go back again! Whatever was in that sauce with the clams was amazing!!! It paired so well with the bread...we could not let that dish go without finishing up every last drop of the sauce. They were nice to give extra bread when we asked for some too. My stomach and heart are happy!
Amazing meal! Great service and great food. I was really impressed with everything. Something that stood out to me was how the service team really worked as a team to make sure we were taken care of. Hats off to them and can't wait to dine here again at some point in the future.
Phenomenal ambience, food and service. We had the veal tartare, calamari, gnocchi and fagiolini. Order a bit of everything! If you're stuck between 2 things, get both. Looking forward to going back.
We had a fantastic experience. Our waiter was great and the food was phenomenal
I definitely recommend getting a reservation as they were packed. The hosts will accommodate any seating requests if you’re patient and there’s a full bar to wait at where the bar staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and fast. Once seated, I advise skipping the underwhelming appetizers and go straight for the pasta which may change your life. The cavatelli and the agnolotti were to die for. Finish it off with the chocolate tart! All of the server suggestions were 10/10 A+. I thought something was on fire when someone came sprinting at me during my meal but it was just the sommelier tending to me upon my last sip - I really appreciated his enthusiasm and agility! Overall amazing and perfect for pasta lovers, date nights, and catchups with friends. If you hate crowds and are claustrophobic, then order their takeout instead, Bestia is not to be missed. :)
Bestia is still my favorite restaurant in la. From consistent quality of delicious food to efficient service, it always delivers. My boyfriend enjoyed his birthday dinner. Thanks as always!
The food and experience were amazing!! I highly recommend this restaurant!!
It took us six months to get a reservation that worked for us; 9:15 on a Sunday evening. The only flaw in the evening was that they had run out of three of the four entrees by that time. Very frustrating. The service was flawless, the staff was attentive without being overbearing and the food was delicious.
I love going to Bestia but this time I was really disappointed in the menu which was just ok. They were out of Branzino and the charred broccoli which we wanted which was not good. The Ragu was just ok!
The worst was they charge for normal still filtered water - a dollar a glass - absolutely ridiculous.
Secondly it irritated me to pay the surcharge for their employee health plans. Can’t the restaurant pay this charge? It’s not as if it’s not expensive to dine there.
Really put us off.
Between the charge for glasses of water and the contribution to the Bestia health plan it’s like being nickled and dimed to death!
it was great
Great service front of the house and amazing talent at the Kitchen and Bar
This place was great! The food was delicious & the staff was friendly & helpful! Great spot for a date night.
Great food and excellent service
Great vibe.. perfect service and delicious cuisine. We loved it! Everything about it.
We had a really great meal. A few cautions: there's a pretty high noise volume. Many of the chairs are of the not-too-comfortable variety. It was cold the night we were there and it was chilly inside the restaurant so dress accordingly. Now, the good stuff! Our waiter was outstanding, relaxed, friendly and really knew the menu. We enjoyed every dish from appetizers to dessert. The plates are small, a good thing IMO, because it allowed for lots of variety. Oh, and the coctails, excellent! Salumi plate, marrow bones w gnocci, pizza, wonderful paste plates. You can't go wrong.
Great vibes and tasty food
Excellent food, service and vibes. Pasta was the best we’ve ever had but pizza wasn’t. We eat a lot of pizza and it was just alright. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but still tasty! Pasta though on the other hand, def one of the best dishes I’ve ever had was the fagiolini with pork.
It was my first worse experience. I went to celebrate my birthday with my friends. The server come nicely to our table and we were already to order food, so he took our order mean while we were drinking beers. After 15 minutes we got our first dish: a salad, then, after 40 minutes our server told us that the kitchen had a problem and they had to shout down the restaurant, so at the end we didn’t eat at all, I couldn’t celebrate my birthday as I planned but at least they got a desser from the house, which wasn’t good enough.
Great cocktails and delicious food, although somewhat overpriced as compared to all the other similar style restaurants in LA. I normally would rate this as 4 stars.
The poor review is because of an incident that occurred during our visit. While we were there for dinner, there was a kitchen fire which resulted in the firefighters being called. The staff left us to our own devices and avoided talking to us for nearly an hour and a half until they came back around to tell us that we would not be served any additional food that day. By that time, all other restaurants in the area were closed - a professional staff would have kept us informed along the way. We were charged full price for the parts of the meal that we had had thus far; I would have expected at least a round of cocktails to be comped as an apology for the long wait. This speaks a lot to their management style and appreciation (or lack thereof) of their customers - while I understand that incidents like this happen, the least I would have expected was to be kept informed and a sincere apology for ruining an evening with friends.
This place is not worth booking months and months in advance. Yes, the service was good and the vibe was fun, but the food itself was just so underwhelming; the callamari was the least appealing I've ever had, and the cavatelli and the fagioli were both kind of bland. I'd recommend going to Factory Kitchen or even Terroni for more satisfying Italian :/
Food and service were great as always. And was able to tell the difference as we had dine at Bavel the night before. (Better service than Bavel in all aspect)
I just wish they would improve the seatings in corners. It gets pretty uncomfortable. I understand it is a busy restaurant everyday and they would like to maximize the seating arrangement. But the ones against the wall and near the door to the outdoor seating seem just not convenient.
Awesome place to go for Monday night if you look for action.
Service was attentive and we were offered great recommendations on food & wine. Other than the Branzino (it was bland & fishy) all food was amazing. Can’t wait to go back. ☺️
Food was outstanding and ambiance full of energy. The table was not so good which was disappointing but overall still enjoyed our meal.
Always the best
Great food, fantastic service without being overly stuffy or over complicated. I'm loathe to try most Italian restaurants because they're often over priced or underwhelming but neither was the case here.
The pizza was the only thing I'd change (good but nothing special) while the pasta and particularly the chocolate tort were amazing.
A great meal in a cool space! Everyone that worked at Bestia was lovely!
This place very hip and feeling very special.
Food is amazing and bread so good.
I will go there again!!
Food was very yummy 😋. Also, pricey but it is what it is.
Still one of the best restaurants in LA. However, I was disappointed that after marking this was a birthday and leaving a note, not one thing was done to celebrate. Not expecting anything for free but a candle would’ve been nice. I expect better service from a restaurant that you have to make a reservation for one month out.
Amazing! Went for a date night with girlfriend when visiting l.a. and the experience more than exceeded my expectations. I would recommend not going for all rich dishes, throwing in some freshness or acidity to balance everything. Lobster Crostini was the best!
Never disappoints. Love the food here and they have exceptional service to match. Water was always refilled and plates were changed out at least twice during our dinner.
Bestia is by far my favorite restaurant in LA, the staff is always super kind and helpful to me and my friends, the food and drinks always out of this world, we always look for any excuse to come back and enjoy the experience, much love!
Excellent food, as always. The service is great. Drinks are amazing. Bone marrow is a must.
Very disappointed. Hyped up but it didn't live up.
We went to Bavel earlier in the evening before we at at Bestia and the service we got at Bavel was so much more amazing, it made it hard to even compare. The waiter ( very tall guy) was nice but felt like he was doing his job with as little effort as he can. Food was pretty good. Had a lot of variety. We wanted to compare the 2 restaurants and for us, Bavel won hands down as far as food, and service. The hostesses at Bestia were super nice. The ambience & decor was fantastic , but if you need to pick between the 2, definitely go to Bavel.
