A 30-seat full bar and lounge add to the convivial environment, where guests can enjoy live music, an all-Spanish wine list, sherry on tap, dry cider, and Spain’s cocktail of choice, gintonic.
The airy, urban Mediterranean interior features California bay laurel tabletops, custom Costa Brava Blue-colored leather chairs and booths, Moorish light pendants and brass table-lamps, a private dining room for parties and events, and seating around the open kitchen with a custom hearth, the heart and soul of Bellota.
What Insiders Are Saying
Some of the best Spanish food in town is at Bellota, at the bottom of the Airbnb building in Soma.
Foo was fair service terrible. I only went there because it was handy I would ‘t go again
We have been to Bellota many times, however this time we felt ignored by our waiter. Many times he would walk by while we were waiting to order or move to the next phase of our meal. As always the food was outstanding, but the service disappointing.
The service was horrible (middle eastern guy) who had no time for my table of 2. So much so that he ignored wine order until finally asking Somm to come over for help with bottle.
The food is extremely overpriced (yes! Even for SF). The pulpit had 3 thin pieces, although portion was crazy for $24 they were so over done I bit into half and didn’t bother.
The standout was the ribs.
Had a great time at the bar for dinner. David provided top notch service and cocktails. Whole fish was great with a tasting flight. Churros rocked. Will be back!
Lovely ambience, great food, stellar service and all at a great price! Absolutely recommend Bellota.
So many good dishes to share. Best to go with group of 6 or more
Noisiest restaurant ever. Couldn't hear across the table.
The ambience and food was great.
The food was flavorless and horrible. The chorizo was not good. We ordered a bunch of different items to taste and not one I liked. Very disappointing.
Tracy the manager, surpasses her customer service. Overall it’s a great place to dine. I love it. Planning on returning real soon.
Fun and delicious!
Food was tasty and in larger portions than usual for tapas so don’t order too many dishes! We were stuffed when we left! Loved the roaming olive & cheese cart and the creative cocktails. Will definitely be back...
Traditional Spanish food - not innovative, nothing that will blow your mind, but certainly flavorful and thoughtful dishes presented by polished and knowledgeable staff in a vibrant setting.
Hands down great in every way staff could bot gave vern friendlier and nore attentive & welcoming
We will be back
San Fran is expensive but this was a $200 meal for two people. 2 veggie tapas, 1 lechon paella, and 1 bottle of wine. Great service and friendly staff - outrageously expensive.
Superb Spanish cuisine and craft cocktails. Real care is put into every dish and drink. The falafel, pulpo, and ham are all to die for but the stars of this night were the wood-fired t-bone with chimichurri and bone marrow hollandaise and the sangria cheesecake. Everything we tasted was perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious.
I would highly recommend the lamb dish and all of the tapas.
Fabulous! Great food, service. Tapas were amazing. Paella was the best we've had. Highly recommended!
Fantastic. Always always consistently good. Paella, charcuterie, wine, tapas, exquisite cocktails. Just an all round great place to eat. I’ve recommended Ballota as a place to eat with business partners as well as good friends. Just hits the mark no matter the occasion. Atmospheric, beautiful music and a great Spanish ambience.
All was wonderful except the sound level. Too noisy! Great service. Very good food. The brussels sprouts are among the best I've had.
Lovely dining experience
Love this place
Great food in a great atmosphere. If you like tapas, paella, or Spanish jamon... you will love Bellota.
If there's one thing to highlight, it's the wonderful level of service at Bellota. Their foods are great but slightly expensive, especially the Paella's (4 beers, one shared paella, one charcuterie platter -> $180).
Wow the food. Lunch was bravas, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and salmon topped off with churros...every dish was truly delicious. And the sangria was perfect, not too sweet and very refreshing. The ambiance is class and the vibe was nice.
Delicious food, attentive service, and fun surroundings that gets pretty loud as the night goes on!
Ethan is a great waiter!
Dinner was fantastic. The main server for our table was a bit slow, and greeted a table and took their order before us, despite that they had been sat well after us. But he was fantastic when we had him. Busy sections are part of the business. All in all, we had a great Valentines date night.
I would absolutely recommend this restaurant! The food was amazing, the service was incredible, the decor is such a cool mix of Spanish and modern SF, the wine list was spectacular and the cocktails were impeccable. We will return!!
Full disclosure, I LOVE Spanish food. A lovely dinner with friends. Everything tasty & well seasoned. Crunchy, barely cooked broccoli appetizer, and wonderful octopus with potato tapas - both excellent, but should've ordered 2 of each for the 4 of us. Patatas bravas were crispy but a little more ordinary, not quite enough aioli, but generous serving of Bellota ham made up for it. Lamb entree was excellent, fabulous seasonings. Fish stew entree also very good with rich clam broth. The place is LOUD, if we had not had a booth I don't know if we could've heard one another.
Always a terrific experience and the food is consistently amazing!
Definitely enjoyed my time here. Food was great and I loved having the live music. My wife and I both loved the Paella (pork cheek/seafood) as well as the J5 Iberico. I've already ready recommended to my friends!
Bellota is a real treat, lively and energetic. I highly recommend the Paella.
Beautiful decor, great live music after 7pm. We sat at the kitchen counter and it was fun to see the chefs cooking. Food is delicious, but I would recommend to either share tapas or share a paella as the paellas are very large.
Great place for a late lunch in SOMA. fast delicious food.
This is my "go-to" place for steak... and yeah... I know it's not a steak house. The 32 oz. bone-in porterhouse is amazing. The best steak you can get in the city. Get it with the bravas and brusela.
My boyfriend and I studied abroad in Seville, Spain together and were looking to reminisce with Spanish cuisine in a romantic ambiance. Bellota checked all our boxes and more! The staff was attentive to our requests and the food was incredible (highly recommend the Tortilla and Paella de Mariscos). We asked the waiter for red wine recommendations specifically in Andalusia, and he was kind enough to bring their sommelier to recommend us the perfect bottle. Overall it was a very memorable experience - one of the best in San Francisco! We will be back!
The paella wasn't as good as it usually is (surprisingly bland) and for almost $50, that's a disappointment. It was my birthday too. The other items my group ordered were delicious and that's great, but I was expecting the main part of the meal to be spectacular especially since I've been here before and know how good it can be. The service is great and I really appreciate that!
We tried the crab paella for the first time and it was spectacular! The wine pairing recommended by the sommelier was perfect and as always the staff were delightful.
