What started out as a butcher shop concept, has evolved and changed over the years to become a full-service restaurant, which was solidified with the restaurant's move to a larger space in 2022. At Bavette La Boucherie, the consumer will enjoy complete transparency of its food moving from farm to plate. Although the butcher shop has been phased out, the restaurant still works with the same farms, and uses the same high quality meats on its menu, which consists of a daily changing menu consisting of salads, sandwiches, small plates, pates, cheese, and charcuterie boards. The restaurant truly is a farm-to-table restaurant, sourcing not only the meat but most of its produce from nearby farms. In addition to the highly seasonal menu, there is a small store featuring chef-curated retail items, such as Wisconsin cheeses, local charcuterie, artisanal jams, pickles, vinegar, and oil. Going along with the thoughtful menu is a select and unique offering of craft beers, wines, and cocktails.

It's sad that it took me this long to visit Babette with them closing on 1/17/2026. It was amazing. I jhad the best carpaccio, which was some of the best carpaccio I have had in the US. The beef tallow fries were delicious but the serving size was enormous. Thank goodness for air fries too have leftovers. I decided to splurge and go with the apple hands or with buttermilk ice cream. I wasn't sure about the ice cream when I ordered, but I'm glad I went out of my comfort zone. This is in the to three deserts I've ever had. Shot out to the pastry chef. It was sublime and rich and delicious. Matthew was amazing. Just the right amount of attention for this solo dinner. I may be back before they close to have the pie again.

This restaurant has always been a gem. Food is consistently great -- and service is friendly, attentive. Plus, it's a beautiful, fun space. Sad that it's closing soon. We need more restaurants like this, not fewer!
