We loved it and will be back. Food was excellent and service attentive and friendly. Flavors were interesting, distinctive and robust. Salmon and lamb were competing for the #1 table favorite. Thanks for a nice night.
Best Indian food we’ve had in Chicago
Delicious!!! Food was amazing, employees were terrific, the decorations and music were so very cool. The lamb shank was fabulous.
Highly recommend! Food was delicious and the service is excellent. We forgot our credit card and our server ran down the street to us.
I’d recommend the chicken saag, though everything we had was really good.
Kitchen was amazing and it kept everything coming out in an organized and timely manner. Food was really strong. Just exceptional. Looking forward to returning
However: some constructive suggestions. They seriously need to get someone on board who can start training front of house service. Everyone was more than pleasant and capable, but woefully undertrained. The server was new and the person overseeing was shy and deferential. Even the food runner- who was nice - seemed semi-clueless. To succeed, I think they really need someone who knows how to train the FOH commensurate to the quality and caliber of the kitchen
(In other words, the service was really nice but pretty Shiite.)
Delicious food and great restaurant
Outstanding flavors, and a good menu complimented by modern interpretations of Indian cuisine, such as cauliflower rice and a delicious cheese cake dessert. Don't miss the samosas. Highly recommended dining.
Very good food. Best indian I have had in a while. Prices were a bit high but I got two meals out of my dish after appetizers so it was worth it. Could have been slightly faster at coming to my table to take my order as we have ourselves 2 hours to get to a movie and barely made it. Absolutely would go back.
Our first time visiting and we were very impressed with the food. Well seasoned and quality ingredients cooked perfectly. The kitchen is somewhat slow getting out food, but they will work out the kinks as things pickup post pandemic. We were a larger group and tried most of the chicken dishes, which were all excellent. I had the Fish Tikka which was salmon. It needed a side sauce, which they were quick to get. We will be back again soon!
Great indian food with different kind of dishes (seafood, chicken). Check out the menu. The owners are very friendly and can accomodate you.
Had a great time with friends. It is the best Indian food in the city. We had Jackfruit cutlets, Chicken Malai Cilantro for appetizers. For Entree Lamb Shank, Fish Basant, Sage Paneer, Lamb Roshangosh, Garlic Naan and Paratha. All the dishes were very fresh and flavorful. The meat dishes just melted in your mouth. The wine selection was great and reasonably priced. For Dessert we had the Gulab jamun cheesecake - a must have. Two sweets in one - great if U get a piece without the other on your spoon. Amazing with a piece of both in your spoon.
The chef and oweners and me wonderful people who are passionate about their food and service. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommend it - Can’t wait to go again.
Great flavors! Food was fresh and delicious. Lamb shank was fall off the bone and tender. Chicken Karahi was flavorful and portions were good. Staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
We had a great time and everything was delicious, sanitized and relaxing. A great experience for our first time dining out in about a year!
Wonderful dine in experience! Started out with the Jackfruit cutlet which paired beautifully with the mint chutney. Also the Chicken Malai Cilantro was super tender. The Seafood Khichdi was browned well on a bed of riced cauliflower and lentils. Spicy, but complimented the salmon. The Malai Kofta was superb. Highly impressed with this new take on Indian. Very modern atmosphere and will be coming back very soon to try more items on the menu.
My new favorite Indian restaurant
We loved this place! The ambience is cute and trendy, but they aren't relying on the decor to carry the place, because the food can definitely do this on its own. You can find traditional plates, but they have a few signature dishes to make it "modern" Indian. We loved every single thing we ate. (Naan was served so hot and fresh out the oven that we had to let it sit for a minute or so to cool off.) The staff was so kind and thankful for us coming in on Valentine's Day amid frigid temps and snow. I think this is a great spot for a date night or a group date, and I am sure families with adventurous eaters would love it as well! Great addition to the neighborhood!
The food was so flavorful without being super spicy. Service was excellent. Can't wait to go back! Get there soon. I have a feeling that when word spreads and things open up again Basant will be packed.
