After seeing a few conflicting reviews on Bacio, I was a little nervous about what our experience would be like, but it ended up quite nice. It was busy when we were there (an 8 top had just been seated). The service was a bit spotty, but we decided to think of it as authentic Italian - we had a good bit of time to sit and enjoy ourselves. The food was good and we'd definitely go back.

My wife, my two children and myself visit the in laws once a month in the Mt Airy section of Philadelphia. We like to try out any new restaurants, last night we gave Bacio's a chance. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Between the six of us we ordered a hearty representation of the menu. We shared a lot of the dishes ( the portions are so generous its almost like family style.) We are not of Italian decent but we like to think we know a good ravioli when we across one! Boy oh boy, the red sauce may have been the best I ever tasted. My kids loved the chicken parm while my finicky in laws tried the fish dishes. They loved the Bronzino and the flounder special. My wife and I had the veal chop and the strip steak, respectively. Every dish was cooked to perfection and a succulent meal ensued. All the meals came with what seemed like a bottomless dish of spaghetti soaked in the aforementioned red sauce. The grown ups washed everything down with the Pennsylvania wines served at the bar and the bartender, Dean, made a couple of Shirley Temples for our little ones. The staff is made up of an eclectic group of professional waiters and local high schoolers who act as food runners and bus boys. The homemade desserts topped off this wonderful experience. Bravo to this new restaurant, and we wish you Bon Fortuna.
Went to Bacio on a date nite with my wife . What an awesome place ! Romantic , great authentic italian food , wonderful staff and PARKING !!! Definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Great dinner of grilled pork chops in an apricot and fig sauce served over polenta. A side salad of arugula dressed simply with olive oil and grated parmigiana was a nice complement. Soooo good.
Thank you, Bacio for being so nice to me and my mother. You treated my mother's birthday as if she was your own. As a vegan.... I have to say, you really out did it... Best vegan ravioli ever. My mother was most satisfied with her veal chop. It is great to be able to sit with non vegans and have a great meal together. My mother is still trying to figure out the receipt for your ricotta pie. Are you sure you give up the receipt??
My husband and I love coming here for DateNight. We also celebrate our birthdays here every year. The staff is super friendly and also make sure we are satisfied . The food is FRESH and they give you plenty to eat . We will remain regular costumers .
Food was horrible. Never had pasta with a worst consistency. Had to send it back (never, ever sent a meal back before). Literally not edible. Server was rude about it and didn’t seem to care.
We were very pleased with the owner and the restaurant and the owner. He went out of his way to make me a side salad. I loved my meal. Would definitely go again.
My wife and I have been eating at Bacio since 2009 when it opened in Mt. Airy and it is always our favorite restaurant. Since moving to Erdenheim, it’s even better. Now there’s parking, a nicer dining room and a bar, while still retaining the convenient byob status.
Our dinner last night was our first on an open table reservation. As always, Jay’s specials were fabulous. My wife said her flounder stuffed with crab meat and lobster, and topped with a lobster sauce, was the best thing she’s ever had there. I had the duck and pork ragu over the chewy al dente perfection of home made paperdelle. The ragu was obviously lovingly slow cooked. Home made desserts there are to die for. I usually get the ricotta pie. It makes me want to look in the kitchen to see if my grandmother from Calabria somehow came back to life and is making desserts at Bacio. Last night however we had Jay’s home made apple pie and it was terrific. We have every family occasion at this place and often the Christmas Eve 7 fishes. Somehow every meal there seems like it tops the last. Also, Jay and his staff, past and present, are like the colorful slightly crazy family you always enjoy.
Birthday dinner for my wife. Server was very friendly, but clearly overworked - too many tables to take care of. The bar situation is pretty strange; you have to go to a separate room to order and pick up drinks, and schlep them back to your table. It is a BYO, so we should have brought our own bottle. Tables are pretty tightly crammed together, which increased the noise factor.
The menu is pretty interesting, and they offered a range of specials the night of our visit. Some very good, some not so good. I would advise sticking with the Italian entrees, since that seems to be their focus. The fresh pasta was very good.
Knew from their Mt Airy location-great job decorating. Overall, good experience and great food at reasonable prices. BYO is always a bonus!
Food good , but kitchen apparently doesn’t notify waitstaff when they are running out of items; our waiter had to come back 10-15 minutes after we ordered because 3 out of 4 entrees couldn’t be served. And then they sent out an incorrect entree, so the 3 had to either watch their dinner get cold or eat while the 4th had the correct dinner prepared. No apology, no offer to reduce the biy.
We have frequented the restaurant in the past with no problem; this time the service was poor, my husband's plate of food was cold; our wait time was ridiculous (probably 1 hour or more before we got our food from the time we placed our order). Also seems like lots of tension between the staff that made things a bit uncomfortable. Not sure we'll go back. It's a shame because we truly loved the restaurant and food.
