Arrived 15 minutes early, we were met by a locked door and two barking dogs. Saw a male and female inside who completely ignored our presence. The female finally came to the door to settle the barking dogs and from behind the closed said they were closed. We would recommend you no longer take reservations for this establishment. We will tell everyone one we know about this unfriendly ugly experience.

My wife and I recently went to the Aviateur after reading on line reviews and scanning the menu. When we arrived at the dinning room, we were informed that their was a set price 10 course meal. We accepted and were promptly seated. The restaurant was not busy and we enjoyed a very comfortable booth. Over the next almost two hours, we were elegantly served a wonderful variety of tastes, textures and colors. Each portion was served with explanation and warm presentation. The portions were small, a pleasant relief from the heaps of food often dumped on plates and seldom finished. If you can sit and eat a 24 ounce steak, this is not the place for you. This is a place to put your phones away, and enjoy time with a special person and the art of cuisine. It is expensive and different and meant for special moments with those special people in your life. We personally thanked the chef, who met us at the table after the meal. My wife and I will return with special friends who enjoy the art of a great meal.

They only offer a 10 course meal when you dine. Overall the meal was very good. Service was disappointing. Asked for a glass of wine that didn't arrive. Couple of times I tried to flag down the waitress just to have her walk by. For the cost of the meal I would probably just stick to one of my regulars.

My wife and I both had excellent entrees, salmon and beef. The restaurant was not busy. We enjoyed the background music, the quiet setting and entire meal from appetizers to dessert.

Aviateur restaurant was a deliciously marvelous surprise. It is wonderful to have a restaurant in Tacoma that not only has delicious food that is exquisitely presented but has a warm, even romantic atmosphere, where one can enjoy a delightful meal while engaging others in your party in pleasant conversation at the same time.

Stood at empty host table for ten minutes before greeting. Not nearly enough wait staff, for a moderately paced Saturday evening. 15 more minutes until drink order, almost an hour from reservation until entrees dropped. Food was decent. Beef in the Bourgignon was of varying quality and toughness. Sea scallops slightly underdone. Camembert appetizer flavor balance off-- needed something slightly sweet to offset the garlic & richness of the cheese. Can't recommend. Price point too high for quality & service offered in Tacoma.

Service was poor. Bread failed to arrive with it was prescribed with. Drinks for all persons at the table forgotten. Food was amazing.

Food was very good. French onion soup was tasty without being overly salty. My partner had the rack of lamb which was tender and delicious. I had the salmon that was tasty even if it was a bit overcooked. We shared a Crepe Suzette for dessert that was delicious but somewhat disappointingly not prepared in the traditional (tableside) manner. Service was a bit subpar for the price range. We had been warned that the kitchen was running behind when we sat down, which we appreciated knowing before we ordered. But after our order was taken, staff seemed to avoid us. Water glasses were kept filled but no one spoke to us again in the nearly two hours we were there. Courses were set down without a word and no one ever asked how things were. It's a little thing but when the bill comes to $120 for two, I expect a little more friendliness and attention. They have also made an attempt to make a large dining room feel more intimate by draping curtains and linens all around a central space and seating everyone there while the rest of the room remains empty. It wasn't quite the atmosphere I was expecting -- a bit informal and a little noisy.
