ATX Cocina experiments with the boundaries of Mexican cuisine. We have taken traditional Mexican dishes and elevated them with modern approaches and techniques. Corn, the basis of the Mexican cuisine for thousands of years, is also the foundation of our kitchen. We nixtamalize and process our masa in house sourcing it from heirloom varieties of corn grown by small family farms in Mexico.

    Our server was very knowledgeable of the entire menu, as well as quite friendly. The cocktails were pretty good, but pricey ($18 each). The food we had for dinner which was quite a bit ….four appetizers, side of street corn and beef cheeks Barbacoa was some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had…

    Great experience. Our server, Andres, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. We had a party of 6 and he encouraged the family style version of eating. It was great for sampling many of the dishes. Very attentive, overall 10/10.

    Wow! Surpassed expectations. Celebrated my birthday there for dinner with 3 others. From the entrance to the exit, all was top-notch. Valet - not free - is next door, just steps from the front door. So convenient. We were greeted cheerfully inside, and they immediately seated the first two of us who arrived. We had a reservation and were a few minutes early. Our server Andy was awesome. It was my birthday, and he attached a lit candle to the glass with my DELICIOUS No Loco Coco mocktail and garnished it in the theme colors, as some of us are visiting the giraffe place in Fredericksburg soon for my bday, and I put big flat palm leaves, plastic giraffes, and a few giraffe props on our table. The guacamole and chips were outstanding...the chips especially. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had a crab tostada as another appetizer. I was worried about how large it was, but it was so fresh and light. My friend sampled mine and ended up ordering it as her main dish. I had the tamale, which is made from sunflower seeds, I believe, and not corn. It had lavender, squash blossom, etc. in it. It was unbelievably delicious. The meal was so satisfying but not overly filling. Everyone was very nice. The ambiance was what you expect at a downtown restaurant. There was a glass bar or something behind us with tvs. This was great because the Longhorns game was on. We made reservations about a month out, hoping game time would be in the morning or afternoon. We could at least keep up with the game better while there. lol Most of the food has a bit of a spicy kick to it, which is fine. The flavor layers are SO great! I cannot eat gluten, so I really appreciate this gluten-free restaurant. All of us were happy and cannot wait to return there soon! I think the prices are fair considering the quality and uniqueness of the food, the great corner location with valet parking next door, and the nice ambiance. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived before dark. It got louder later - but not bad.

    Food was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious! Our waiter was top shelf- very knowledgeable and helpful with food and drink selections (the menu is a bit intimidating). One of our party accidentally knocked a plate on the floor, shattering it and spilling food. Staff immediately- and quietly- cleaned it up in seconds- like a pit crew!
