About this restaurant

We are passionate about food and offer a choice of superb meals based on the Italian classics with a vibrant, modern twist. We don't do frozen and we make all our past dishes fresh to order. Yes, you will wait longer for your meal but we believe it's totally worth it.
The Antico experience is based on the simple principle of 'Good food, Good Wine, Good times!' It's the italian way of eating and it is something that should not be rushed.

We are not interested in turning our tables around five or six times a night - we believe that food should be savoured in an unhurried environment, where you can relax with your friends, family, or partner and eat your meal the way it should be eaten - slowly and with an appreciation for the extra effort we put into making every dish special.

Antico was great - good food, lovely service From lovely people. So nice to find a restaurant that has some sound- deadening in the form of tablecloths! Highly suitable for couple, families and a night with a few friends. Excellent, we will return.

We had a very pleasant evening with my nephew and his partner after travelling up from London. We have been to Antico a few times recently and the food and staff have always been excellent.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. Food was really excellent and great value for money. We had 2 delicious courses each and a lovely bottle of wine for under £60. Waiter friendly and provided excellent wine advice to compliment our main courses. Lively atmosphere but still perfect for couple night. Will definitely be back. Best meal in Newcastle in a long time.

Was really looking for forward to eating here due to previous reviews. When we arrived we were left at the bar and didn't know where to stand. When we were taken to our table we felt a little squashed next to two other couples and could hear everything they were saying. We asked to order twice and waited at least 30 minutes between courses. The staff were friendly and the place is decorated lovely but I didn't enjoy my main course and ended up leaving it. Such a shame and maybe it was because it was a Saturday night but sadly I won't be returning anytime soon.

We attended antico on friday25th of September with out two friends from Canada,we strongly recommended this restaurant and raved about it as we are regulars.imagine our horror when we had our starters and unfortunately had to ask two members of staff where our main courses were.forty minutes later they arrived,staff did apologise to us,but I wanted it to be the amazing experience it normally is for us.this I believe was a blip,I do hope so,as we have visited this restaurant regularly for the past 7 months and had a great food experience and great service.

Cant put into words how good this place was, we were made to feel special from the minute we walked in. The food was excellent and at no point were we rushed, even though we were last to leave on a Sunday night. The attention to detail throughout was exceptional even decanting the Chianti reserva. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good quality food

We eat in Antico the weekend of the Great North Run. From being Greated by a very friendly young girl to the waiters and food everything was excellent. The waiters were professional, friendly and funny if you wanted to interact with them. All 3 of us enjoyed every dish and found them very tasty. Do yourself a favour and visit Antico.
