Mario & Allegra Perez met when they began working together in an Italian restaurant in Santa Monica in 2000. In 2008, they started their first restaurant, Tortuga Bay, which features authentic dishes from Mario's hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico.

In 2019, Mario & Allegra decided to recreate a similar type of restaurant in which they met: California-Italian cuisine for the neighborhood and families to gather and enjoy locally-sourced meals. Allegra California Café offers healthy alternatives, hearty comfort foods, and vegetarian and vegan options. We proudly serve Lavazza coffee as well as beer, wine, & wine-based cocktails.

We celebrated our anniversary. Our server Kristen was awesome. Food was very good, tasty and reasonably priced. We’ve been her before and every plate we tried was delicious. I had the Mahi mahi and it was super good. We would definitely come back again and again.

Food and service were subpar. I ordered avocado toast. The bread was so stale/cold toast that I was unable to cut into it with a knife. The avocado was smashed but that’s it – no seasoning, no garnish, not even salt. I asked for side of bacon, crispy. They brought out undercooked bacon. I asked the waiter to please bring back the menu because I wanted to order something else. It took almost 15 minutes for him to bring the menu and by then my companion was halfway through her meal. I didn’t expect fine dining or over the top service but I can’t recommend a place that has mean spirited waitstaff and lousy food.

The food was delicious (once I received it). I received my food literally 50 minutes from the time I placed my ordered it. ordered their Long Island Iced Tea and it tasted more like time that any thing else. I was offered bread with my meal instead of while waiting for my lunch. I was expecting a more romantic ambiance; but it wasn’t.

This is our "go-to" neighborhood restaurant for REALLY good food! We sat in the famous back patio, and were transformed into our own little private party! You have to book it to find out what a wonderful quaint set up in a transformed "Covid-time" alley! Food was delish as always..pasta dishes are large portions, I had a Lobster Ravioli special..really good, not overly salty at all - which I love. Every time I dine - whether it's dine in or take out, this is ONE restaurant where I want to try every dish..good thing we're local customers! Cheesecake was large and authentic too..and they serve Lavazzo coffee - my favorite!

I love this low-key restaurant. The food is generously proportioned. The restaurant excels at chicken. My partner had the chicken pesto panini with mushroom soup. I had my favorite. The chicken piccata. The accompanying fingerling potatoes were delicious also. They have great iced tea. Service was spot-on. Any dish is a good value for what you get. This is our neighborhood gem.

Enjoyed a chopped salad and the salmon pasta out on the back patio which is very fun with the umbrellas overhead. Actually quiet enough to be able to have a nice catch up with friends. Definitely recommend this hidden gem.

We had a party of 9 to celebrate our son and daughter-in-laws birthday. This was our first visit to Allegra, and we were not disappointed! The food portions were large and very tasty! Our server was extremely attentive! We sat outside on their covered back patio. It was perfect! Highly recommend!

Hi- food is great - each item we ordered was flavorful. Service is fast, and friendly staff. 1. Calamari - slight battered. Garlic sauce so good. 2. Sole Piccata - tender, and huge portion. 3. Pollo Verde Pizza - balanced of flavor of pesto and the bell peppers. 4. Fettucine del Mare - pasta cooked right (al dente), seafood is generous. Came with bread. We did not try the desserts. Thanks

Went for Dine LA week and was pleasantly surprised by the restaurant. First impression when you walk in is a bit drab, with a deli counter in front. Outside patio was spacious and decor fun with dozens of umbrellas overhead. Food was fabulous and our server was very pleasant and helpful.

Very nice service, generous portions, and comfortable, shaded patio in the back. I had a salad which was not very fresh or tasty. The person I was with had a burger and fries and seemed to enjoy them. If you're going for a salad, maybe this restaurant isn't the best choice, but perhaps the heavier foods are better prepared and tastier.
