   The food was excellent. The staff was inexperienced and the kitchen extremely slow. The bartender showed up for work around 6:30. If they can improve the service level it will be a great experience. Beautiful view.

   The former Frontier restaurant has been re-done into 1878 On the Lake. If you've been there before, you will certainly recognize it. The layout is very similar, it's just brighter and the menu is completely different. I was hoping for a few more dinner options but we enjoyed what we ordered. The rolled steak was good and the walleye was tasty. The wine list had quite a few choices. The rhubarb creme brûlée was excellent! I can't wait to have that again. Our server was very friendly and well-informed on the menu. All in all, I thought it was a good meal. Since I had written in the Open Table notes on the reservation that we were celebrating our 29th anniversary I thought something might have been said but I guess the restaurant doesn't read those.

   Decided to try this restaurant again after their remodel and change of management. The menu looked promising. Only a handful of tables were occupied while we were there. Waitress was friendly and courteous although seemed apologetic before anything was served. A sign? All dishes we had were very disappointing. No imagination in how it was prepared and presented, very poorly cooked and without much flavor. This resort location has so much potential, on a lake, with a hotel and a golf course on site and close to Lake Geneva. Unfortunately it seems wasted on whoever is running it.

   It was fine… the hostess is so rude. The service was fine, our server was fine, the breakfast was decent. I’ll go back because it’s there but i wouldn’t choose to go back.

   miscommunication is the kitchen, asking for water refill multiple times and not getting response. Took over an hour to get all our food. Other tables after us getting served before us. Food was really tasty - just want a better rounded experience for an upscale resort. Views and table beautiful! Kitchen timing and attentiveness needs work

   Excellent effort for our first visit. The experience was made outstanding by our server, Lauren R. She was pleasant, explained what we asked and served a great bottle of wine. The cadence was perfect. The bread was warm and very good, especially with the special jam butter offered. Options were very distinct and were prepared and served perfectly.

    Terrible service and the food was sub par. Waited over 25 minutes to even be acknowledged. The kitchen was out of a few items which is not their fault. It still just added to the frustration. The view was great though.

    The food was excellent - savory/sweet maple bacon lollipops for a starter, the beer cheese soup was excellent, and the chicken was good - but the brussel sprouts and sweet mashed were superb! Finished with a rhubarb crème brûlée that was out of this world.

    Now this is a perfect spot for a lovely evening on the water. The menu is creative but still delicious for foodies who like standards as well. The wait staff so kind and the accommodating. The decor is serene and easy. Beautiful but doesn’t take away from the water view. The chef does an amazing job with the food and creativity. Even the beauty of a dish is great. We were in for a girls weekend and everyone wants to come back. Nice job !

    Beautifully remodeled. Read great reviews. Went for Mother’s Day brunch. A very poor buffet. Looked ok. Staff worked hard. Food sub par. Worse than bad dinner food. Very disappointed. And this was at $65 per head x 4 and we were also charged for soda. Sorry. Very bad.

    It took until after we were done with our first course, to receive our juice/drinks we had ordered. As a brunch buffet, I expected a lot more fresh fruit and options- for the outrageous price you charge. And we couldn't even get a spoon to eat our mousse- we waited 15 minutes then went and asked someone by the dessert table for one.

    Mothers Day brunch service and food were very good. They handled the crowd very well. The adult brunch was definitely on the expensive side ($65), but overall we were satisfied.

    Lake Lawn is awesome in every way. Love going there as often as possible - 45 minute drive for us - well worth every mile. Always some new, always something good, always makes us happy!

    The restaurant was very clean with the exception of where we were seated. There was food under the table and on the chairs. Our server was most attentive. The wait time for our food was a bit lengthy considering we were the only ones in the restaurant for the first hour. Fortunately, the food was excellent. Whoever chose the tables and chairs dropped the ball on that. The table height was a bit too tall with the chairs. The chairs very awkward with the backs too reclined.

    Tables for six all placed away from the windows and the view. Leaves 3 people looking at the wall and not the water. Food and service good. Table of 2 or 4 would have. Better experience.

    First time eating at the restaurant. My wife has French Onion Soup which was delicious. She had the Shrimp Martini (cocktail) in garlic sauce. Served with garlic baguette. I ordered the Duroc Pork Chop bone in Tomahawk style. Served over sweet potato mash with ramps and carrots. Outstanding!

    For this to be a more high end establishment it must have better personal. Was seated by bus boy no host. Person bartending the bar took our food order. When asked about a certain dish as to how it was prepared. She first asked what do you mean? And then we said how is the fish on the salad we were going to order prepared. She said I do not know and then took a guess at how it may be prepared, instead of saying she would find out and let us know. For the price point. The staff should know the menu better and not guess at it. What food we did get was excellent but they need to tighten there ship up.

    The food was spectacular absolutely extraordinary!!! We knew this was a 5 star chef that produced the magnificent dishes and plated them!! The very frustrating part of our experience was finding the restaurant! It is on a resort and there are no LARGE signs stating where 1878 was located! There isn't even a sign on the building that the restaurant is in! We had to call the manager from the parking lot to give us directions where to go!. This restaurant is a hidden gem for fantastic food but it has to have better signage and branding!
