   Very slow service, waited an hour between started and main course, only about 10 other tables in restaurant so not sure why it was so slow. Also after being seated and a drinks order taken no other opportunity to order drinks were made, meals were delivered but no check back. Had to get waitress’s attention to get any sauces. Food was nice but ruined by service, took two hours to have 3 courses being seated at 8.15 on a Sunday night.

   Service extremely slow. We spent 2.5 hours all in all in the restaurant. Starter of goats cheese was lovely, duck was okay. Burgers were pretty basic. Luckily we had a voucher but definitely not worth £16. Many people left mid meal. Wouldn’t return.

   Lovely food, polite, friendly and professional service team. I think there may be a staffing issue though as we found we were waiting a long time to have our wine order taken and then a wait of an hour between starter and main course. We felt the decor and ambience of the restaurant was not in keeping with the rest of the hotel. The bright, very open plan design felt incongruent with the beautiful, tasteful & traditional hotel and grounds.

    Unattractive restaurant , no ambiance and out of keeping with beautiful period Wotton House. More like a supermarket cafeteria! Understaffed with three staff trying to do their best. Uncleared tables, scratched table tops with worn out or broken chairs. Limited menu pub food at best, but top prices! Such a shame when the rest of the property is so nice. No reflection on the friendly staff who were run off their feet. As no other option to eat nearby, this would deter me from staying at this hotel again.

    Following a reservation we arrived waiting to be seated, but were largely ignored by passing staff. After placing our order the food arrived 20 minutes but without our water and drinks. We ordered burgers, both were burnt. Staff lacked basic service training and received little or no direction from the floor manager. The restaurant markets itself to be a fine dining experience but for us at least this was not the case. A shame as the Wootton House hotel is such an amazing venue. Lost potential.

    On the most part it was very good only complaint was due to hotel being full at last minute with a cancelled flight full of people there was no breakfast left no cups n saucers no plates left breakfast was terrible poorly managed as paying hotel guests they should of put aside breakfasts for the paying hotel guests which there were only eight couples then not to have and cups n saucers to drink from or dishes to be given paper cups not what you would expect for a peaceful two day break away in a lively luxurious hall very disappointing all we had was a piece of toast not impressed at all

    Everything lovely. Duck starter wasn’t great could have been more adventurous for the value and in taste terms. Everything else very nice and enjoyed the free glass of Prosecco for our anniversary dinner.

    BBQ squash was nice, maybe a bit overpriced. The chicken was very small and bland, £16.50 for what came out was a bit of a rip off. Staff were friendly but probably understaffed as service was slow.

    We and a good few others had to go back to the bar for a good half an hour or so as they couldn't seat us. No drinks were offered to soften the blow. When we did get seated our waitress was lovely but informed us that our main which was one of only two vegan options we could have want complete as they'd run out of polenta. We were offered French fries instead which made it a bit of an odd meal at a not cheap price. Would have expected some sort of compensation but had to pay full overpriced price! The restaurant isn't very intimate. It's very open and busy. Overall it was ok but we won't go back.

    Lovely ambiance with tables reasonably spaced so as to provide intimacy. Food was lovely and we felt very well looked after by the staff. A bit pricey but worth it if you go for something unusual.

    Stayed at the venue for a wedding and decided to push the boat out and eat in the restaurant the night before. To be honest, there wasn’t anything wrong other than it was just “acceptable”. Some of our friends ate in the bar, where they had exactly the same menu and to be frank, a better ambiance. The restaurant is a little tired and the silly tree in the middle just doesn’t cut it. Service was acceptable but again, nobody seemed to go that extra mile for you, thus making it all rather average and the food was rather uninspiring.

    Sunday evening dinner for 2 - nothing special, and actually disappointing as this was to celebrate a birthday. Ourselves and 7 other tables. Flat atmosphere, food underwhelming. I have a food an allergy, to which I was not asked about prior to my ordering. When one of my dishes arrived, it was laced with the allergen ingredient, which I was then charged for on the bill, even after I addressed my allergy with the waiter and asked to see the ingredients list. We spent 1 hour and 50 minutes in a mostly empty restaurant having 3 courses. Very slow service. Overall, I would not go back. How disappointing as the setting is more impressive than food and service.

    This was a very odd experience, the restaurant was almost empty which could possibly have been a clue. The menu looked pretty average and we were told that several choices were not available. One of the soups arrived stone cold to such an extent that I queried if we had ordered a gazpacho by mistake, it was heated and returned. The remainder of the meals were ok and I'd describe as average at best.

    There was nothing wrong with the food, but the overall experience was just average. The restaurant lacked an atmosphere, the music choice was odd and the sound from the wedding drowned out our meal. Being local and enjoying a chilled child free evening we had hopped for a little more ambience, in the hope this could be our new "go to"

    Worst food in a hotel or restaurant ever. I went for the easy option of cod and chips. The fish was like cardboard and evidently not fresh and the chips were frozen or even oven chips. The ambiance no better, very bright and load like a school canteen. Basically shocking and brings down a lovely hotel

    We went here for an anniversary dinner. We arrived a little early and explored the gardens of the beautiful house (a friendly receptionist gave us a map and pointed us in the right direction). Then we had our dinner at the restaurant. We're both vegan and there was a choice of mains. We had the ragu which was delicious. The Chocolate Marquise desert was very luxurious. Sadly one of the vegan starters was unavailable and we didn't fancy the soup, so we stuck to just the two courses, but we were comfortably full up afterwards anyway. It was a lovely place to go as a special treat.

    We booked the table for the celebratory meal for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. One of us had the ale-battered haddock, triple cooked chips and crushed peas option. The fish looked un-appealing and stale and was quite inedible. The fish batter was thick and spongy and resembled under-cooked Yorkshire Pudding. When this was pointed out to the restaurant staff the service we received was exceptional with the removal of the cost of the meal from the final bill, the offer of a replacement meal and complementary coffee from the bar.

    Really enjoyed both the BBQd Asparagus and Peach salad and the burger mains. The cheese board was a little disappointing and certainly not good value at the price. The service from the staff was friendly, helpful and when a minor problem occurred it was swiftly and acceptably resolved. Must just point out that we had a second reservation for the following night and were not pleased to receive a very late cancellation when it turns out the restaurant had been privately booked for a function. Thank heavens OpenTable let us know as the restaurant/hotel didn't. However, all things considered, will certainly use again when in the area.

    We waited at least 25min for someone to take our order. The service was very slow, also the food took ages to arrive. For £35 steak you would expect a decent service but it was poor. The desert also arrived very late without cutlery. The food was not amazing. Just very disappointed.
