Piccolo Trattoria - Newtown
Brian was our awesome waiter...prompt but not intrusive. Great recommendations! Love this place!
Food is always good. They deal with my food allergy easily. However, the noise level on a weekend night keeps us from eating there more often. Mon- Thursday weeknights are so much better.
Everything was excellent, but at times we felt like we were being rushed. We realize this was New Year’s Eve but that was why we selected an early dinner time.
The food was amazing! My only complaint is that the wait staff was extremely loud in talking among themselves... idle chatter.
We had a reservation Christmas Eve. When we got there people were standing outside the door. There were people there who had a reservation an hour before us who were still waiting for a table. People were walking out who were seated but waited over an hour and never got served. We finally left. We checked Open Table and they were still taking reservations. it was a holiday. People were there with families and it was totally out of control. They did to fix this.
Waited very long even though we had a reservation
It was very busy, as expected since it was Christmas Eve. We had a little wait but it was a holiday meal and we were prepared to wait longer so was not an issue. Impressed with the amount of people in the restaurant that they were able to get in and out in about an hour and forty-five minutes. Our waiter was so nice and attentive even after he was stiffed but the table of 10 next to us. Food was very good.
We made a family reservation for 6 on Christmas Eve expecting a nice, but basic Italian dinner. Service in the past has not been the best, but this occasion provided superior service and excellent food. Steaks and Italian dishes were superb! The deserts were incredible with the snowball and fudge cake topping the list. Thank you for a festive Christmas celebration that allowed us to enjoy our family conversation with the perfect meal!
Our server Bryan was very pleasant , however most of our food arrived not hot as if it had been sitting waiting for pickup for a while, Bryan offered to have it re heated, but the pasta would have been overdone at that point so I opted just not to eat it, the sauce was also very was very salty. The cooks in the kitchen were prepping and pounding meat the whole time we were there, it was very loud and disturbed our whole meal . My husband mentioned it to a staff member and was told they were prepping food. Th experience was a shame as the restaurant was not even a quarter full. Not sure we'll go back there.
Called and moved back the time of our reservation. When we arrived at that time were told our table was given away because I "only spoke with a counter person, not a hostess." I have no idea what that even means. We did get a table but no menus and service was very slow, it took 2 hours for dinner.
Great food..great prices and great service...ask for Greg.
We showed up a bit early for our reservation, but the were many people there without reservations that were seated long before we were. Then we were ushered to a table that was basically in the servers path to other tables. Our server was polite but inexperienced. Once the food came (after what seemed to be longer than it should have taken), my chicken was tough and the pasta was overcooked. Probably the worst Italian meal I've ever had. Overall this is not a restaurant that I will use again. There are numerous restaurants opening in the area, so I'll have plenty of others to choose from.
Took someone there for a business meeting over lunchtime since it was in their neighborhood. Cute atmosphere and nice pottery on the walls.
We both had salads. The waiter forgot to ask about whether I wanted a drink and while we were eating and talking, the waiter and another employee approached the table at separate times asking to remove my salad plate but my guest was still eating. The restaurant was not very full and I took those gestures as rude, like they were trying to hurry the meal along. We were there for about an hour.
I'd try this again if I was in the area, but I hope someone can instruct their wait staff.
Went here with family visiting from out of town. Place was almost empty when we arrived at 6 pm. Service was good at first, salads/soups were good. Then it got crowded and our server forgot about us. We waited more than 20 minutes for our entrees, drank all of our wine, drank all of our water, saw three tables that arrived after us get their entrees. Finally gave another server an annoyed look and he got our order delivered. Some dishes clearly had sat under the lights, one was lukewarm. Server didn't apologize for the wait or the dried out/cold food. Food would have been very good had it been served when it was done. Probably will not return here.
Great food at reasonable prices. There is something for everyone no matter what your dietary needs are.. we didn’t have the pizza, but it looked yummy! We had various dishes of chicken, veal or seafood plus a couple of loaded salads..
Our pasta dishes were very good. Love the sauce and chunky tomatoes. Clams were nice and tender. Also loved the bread and dipping sauce.
Had a nice dinner despite how noisy it was. We’re catering to large parties.
Our food was very good, had tilapia franchise and gnocchis with fried calamari..
Best classic Italian-American in the area.
We had a very nice dinner at Piccollo with Brian making sure our evening was perfect. My husband had the fettuccine Alfredo and I the tri color tortelini with marinara sauce, the sauce was a little thick but was rich in flavors. We started the dinner with the lightly fried, fried calamari, served with lemon, peppers, and marinara sauce.
To end the evening,Brian surprised my husband with a piece of peanut butter/chocolate birthday cake.
Always our go to Italian restaurant.
Bread was good but main course was mediocre. Felt rushed. In room with very loud party that was disturbing to our meal. Pasta sauce was bland
The food and service are always good. willing to work with you on changes to the menu. Wait staff friendly. Quality of food is excellent.
The service and food was excellent. Noise
Was a little loud but there was a table of 4 next to us that was celebrating going to Italy . So that was fine.
AMAZING food AMAZING staff AMAZING everything we’ll definitely be back again! And again and again and again!
Veal in "Veal Marsala" was OVER COOKED and the sauce was watery! Other meals were very good!
Was a little nervous when I saw this place was in a strip mall. Ordered the calamari which I wouldn’t get again and the chicken parm which was great. Really good and really good sized portions..Would definitely stop again when I’m in town.
We discovered this place while visiting the area for Christmas a few years back. We have not had a bad experience at all. Ownership/Management is onsite always checking in on you.
Food is amazing. Service impeccable. We love coming here when in the Newtown area during whichever holiday season.
Came in late but was treated wonderfully. Food was excellent as was the service
This past Saturday was not the best experience at Piccolo - although the food remains amazing so I will likely be back. The restaurant was so hot that it was uncomfortable while waiting for our table. The service was a bit off as well - our waiter was very nice, but must have had a lot of tables since it took a while to get our orders placed, get our main course and have the bill taken to be paid. I'm hoping this was just a bad night for the restaurant since I've always had such great service - the fantastic food made up for it this time but with a lot of competition in the area, not sure I'll be back too soon.
The food was good when we got it. We have a reservation and sat late. Then our food came out 45 mins and the our meals came after. Horrible service. Been there before and never had this problem. Sad.
I was that very disappointed because I came here with my husband a couple weeks ago and we decided to invite our very close friends so there was eight of us and I specifically asked for a table that did not have couch seating I was a shored that that would be the case when they called to confirm the day off I reiterated that I did not want to be sitting on a couch as it was uncomfortable for us and that is exactly where they sat us and would not move us very disappointed will not come back with a large group again
Very good food and service - get reservations in peak periods.
So much better here than the surrounding “chains” at the same price point (or even better since it is BYOB). Friday night comfort food with some more adventurous options to keep things interesting.
The service was a bit slow, but we were engrossed in our conversations, so it wasn't that big of an issue. The eggplant parmesan was very good, although a bit soggy. Overall, the flavor was excellent, and we were never rushed to finish up. I would definitely return to try other dishes.
I visit this location a few times a year. Food and service have been very good and this trip was no exception. It may be getting pricey for its strip mall location.
It’s average - the food was ok Italian but the wait staff was awful
The highlight was the penne with garlic and oil - would probably get food from there again due to convenience and take it out
We went with friends. The food was delicious as usual ant the waiter was excellent. I love it’s a BYOB .
Great casual Friday night dining.
Low key place with good food. We've been long-time customers. Had an unexpected charge with dinner tonight, not such a big deal, but a bit sneaky. The entrees come with soup or salad. I ordered the soup, which was very good (seafood bisque). I saw an additional charge of $3 for the soup. I asked our waiter, who explained there was another soup that didn't have the charge -- the bisque is higher priced. I should have been offered all of the soups. You don't need to stiff customers for $3.
Meals were terrible and waiter argued about sending it out
Had the Brooklyn pie, always a favorite. Had a chocolate/peanut butter dessert was fabulous.
Brian was our server, always accommodating.
