Had an amazing dinner overlooking the back side of Ojai Valley Inn. They originally tried seating us near the Oak but we asked to be moved to the main part. They accommodated and the service, food, drinks, etc were great. Would highly recommend but it is pricey!
The restaurant is beautiful, the service is excellent and the food is delicious. We dine there every time we take a trip to Ojai.
Dinner was lovely: prepared with care, excellent service, and delicious! We wanted a special evening for our anniversary, and this was definitely special.
I made our reservation several weeks prior to arrival. We were in Ojai attending grandparents weekend at Thacher. I was extremely disappointed being seated in a room off to the side with 6 tables as we were the only ones until 15 mins prior to leaving, fyi our res was 5:30. Was this due to us not staying at the Inn? I have never been treated like this in a restaurant. The waiter was so stiff and continued to push the tasting menu. We are quite aware of what tasting menus are and pairings. When people are not hungry as some in our party were not we do not eat. The food was delicious and the wine list lovely. We have traveled the world and have had the opportunity to eat at many lovely restaurants with michelin stars. I am not sure what the issue was but I didn't care for it. The attitude ruined our meal.
Loved our evening here. All the food was fantastic. It started with the freshly baked sourdough whole wheat bread. So good . My favorite dish was the mushroom risotto. The mushrooms were crisp and piquant next to the smoky Risotto. The sauce was smooth and creamy and flavorful. Next I had the chicken. The sauce really added to the flavor of the chicken with greens and other tender vegetables. Some of the best chicken I’ve ever had.
They ended the meal with super delicious truffles.
We had a great table where we could still see the setting sun over the mountains. Beautiful. What a perfect romantic valentine dinner for two!
The restaurant called us well after we already booked our reservation, but a couple of days before we were supposed to arrive - too late for us to make other plans, to tell us they changed their menu to a prix fixe menu at $195/person. I thought this was really bad form, but was too busy to change things at that point. (It would have been $295/person if we chose the wine pairing, BTW.) We had a $150 bottle of wine and including tip (which I admit, was generous), the bill came to $700 for two. Let’s just say I’ve had much better prix fixe dinners for two under $300 in San Francisco including great wine and a generous tip. The more I think about it, the more upset it makes me. The food was good, but not worth the price. Not by a mile. Honestly, I’ve been more satisfied with my meal at much lower-end restaurants. We got very little value out of our experience. My comments should not reflect negatively on the kitchen staff, wait staff or the hotel grounds. They did the best they could I’m sure, and the hotel is amazing. But I would never eat there again and would tell anyone else considering staying at Ojai Vally Inn to eat at Jimmy’s Pub or another restaurant instead.
Ojai Resort is first class... except fir the food. Olivella tries hard to serve an upscale dinner experience and though service is good, though they seem to try too hard, the food is lacking.
Service was excellent. Food was amazing. If they’re serving octopus, try it!!
great service, but way overpriced given quality. Probably wouldn’t go back.
We recently celebrated our anniversary at Olivella and we must say that the service was extraordinary. Our server David was extremely knowledgeable and made our time here quite memorable. The manager Brett, is proving to be a wonderful asset for this venue. We will absolutely be back!
Gorgeous restaurant with the most lovely and kind staff. Was disappointed with the food; it was average at best. We ordered the tuna crudo to start and each got pasta (the bolognese and truffle); while the meal was generally good, I was definitely disappointed. This is probably because the night prior we ate at Ojai Valley Inn's other restaurant, The Oak, which was incredible (weaker ambiance, much tastier food).
Wonderful all around!
The service was truly excellent and the wine list exceptional though pricey. The food was good, but not outstanding. There were a few standout dishes but the rest were good but not memorable.
My husband ordered the New York strip for $67 and was served a half of a strip in 3 chunks. That would wrk if he were doing a spa vacation but he was not. The 3 chunks were delicious and perfectly prepared but needless to say, he was still hungry.
Yes, it was Christmas Day and busy. The food was mediocre at best. And way too expensive for what we got. Other restaurants in Ojai are better.
Completely different experience tonight!! FANTASTIC!! Blown away!!!! Thank you !
Vacation. Last time was much better but I guess many changes with the seasons. Lacked salt, a little not to much going on this time. Whatever he was serving in May this year was exceptionally better, look forward to trying again tomorrow evening. We talked this place up a lot and hope tomorrow will be better
Delicious meal with outstanding service. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My husband and I shared the first two courses and then got our own main courses. Plenty of food.
Amazing food, service, wine pairing.
Wonderful and creative food. However, it took a long time to receive our drinks/wine and each course. The waiter was very friendly, but he kept disappearing and the restaurant was not crowded.
Everything prepared to perfection. A very nice date night location!
Attentive, knowledgable staff who work around food sensitivities to deliver a remarkable meal! Memorable for me are the octopus appetizer, duck entree, and chocolate dessert. Also multiple pasta dishes freshly made in-house.
I have been enjoying various restaurants at the Oaji Valley Inn for25 years. I think Olivella has been the best upgrade made to the dining experience at the Inn. Of course it's expensive. And of course I save it for "special occasions". But the chef is developing such an interesting pallet, I find that there are more and more "special occasions" each year. I definitely will be back this June during the Music Festival
Wonderful food and ambience - a little pricey, but worth it....
The food was amazing.
Pros: exceptional food and service; cons: overpriced and bizarre tabling. We arrive at 6 pm and were shown some tables on the outside balcony...one table for two was exceptional; we asked for that table but were told it was reserved. Instead we got a lousy table right under a loud speaker with music. When we finished and left at 7:40pm the original exceptional table we asked for was still empty... very poor form.
My boyfriend and I had a great time here! We ate out on the balcony so we could see the sunset while we ate our 4 course meal. I highly recommended coming here!
We sat outside and the atmosphere was wonderful. The service was timely but not rushed. The food was delicious.
The service and food were outstanding
Dakota provides us with excellent service! He was very knowledgeable
Food excellent, service wonderful, view from patio beautiful. It was perfect dining experience.
Phenomenal! The atmosphere, staff, and food were top notch! We recommend the 4 course option.
Our server, Chris, was outstanding. He talked us through the four courses and provided exceptional wine pairings. One dish came out not to our liking and he quickly exchanged it. It was a truly memorable birthday for my husband and I highly recommend sitting outdoors for the pink moment. Thank you Ojai Valley Inn! You never disappoint!
This was a great place for a girls night out celebrate a birthday!
The amount of food was so small and so overpriced; it was outrageous for what was servedThe waiter was very nice, but we will NEVER go back and have actually told some friends who are going to Ojai Valley Resort to stay away from that restaurant.
Took myself on a vacation and it was fab! Hostess even gave me the best seat!!
Families, couples and groups of couples surrounded me but the wait staff never made me feel different. Great solo vacay!!
Wonderful waitress! Wonderful food! Beautiful night!
It was delicious!! Everything!!
Great option for a nice dinner with friends on the property. Food was perfect size/serving size b/c you will eat a lot.
My favorite restaurant, an exceptional experience. Between the inventive and satisfying food, impeccable service, and beautiful setting, cannot go wrong at Olivella.
