What Insiders Are Saying
Odys and Penelope in Mid-Wilshire is upscale American comfort food at its finest. And also the best smelling restaurant in LA.
Great food, great vibe, service was above average. Space had sort of an cold, industrial feel, which im not a big fan of but other people may like, and the menu options were a little limited but other than that, no complaints.
A fun Mother-Daughter date. The menu is interesting and the service and food quality are excellent. We really liked the atmosphere and energy of the place. The crab focaccia appetizer and skirt steak were amazing! Definitely will be back.
Great service and amazing food! Just make sure you’re seated in the main dining area—not the side annex.
Definitely going back
The restaurant is beautiful. I think that my wife and I made mistakes in what we ordered as entrees. Although the food was very good, I think we would have been better off ordering other entrees. That being said the appetizer (the cheese puffs) the vegetable side dish (cauliflower) and the dessert Chocolate Rye pie with Mint Ice Cream were all absolutely top notch. I have no problem recommending it to others and will try it again and order different entrees.
Great week night dinner spot! I was able to make a reservation day of. Excellent food, attentive staff. It's nice, but also relaxed. I took my mom here, but it would also be a great spot for a date or a business dinner.
Great place for dining with friends - neighborhood find
Our service was incredible, thanks to Peter. The food is excellent and priced fairly. We plan to return as soon as possible.
Loved the vibe in here, didn't get overly loud like a lot of places nearby. I thought the prices were reasonable, the cocktails were great, and the food was cooked perfect. I also liked that our table wasn't right on top of the tables next to us. Made you feel like you could talk at a normal volume.
Went for my wife's birthday. It's a great place with friends. Get a lot of dishes and share. The ribs are amazing - melt in your mouth. What am I saying, everything is good. Staff is attentive but not in your face.
yummmmmmmmmmmm. Everything here is incredible. The appetizers, desserts and everything in between are top notch. HIGHLY recommend!
I only write reviews when I have something good to say, but I will share my thoughts because I believe this restaurant has potential. The ambiance is different, which makes this restaurant nice. The food though wasn’t great, it was simply average. We experienced something unusual during our visit as well. We notified the manager and she was very assuring that the situation would be taken care of. So yes, the service and servers were great, but the food, drinks, restroom...needs attention and improvement
Our dinner there was absolutely delicious.
Definitely a nice and elegant place to enjoy a full experience. From the welcome, the food, the service, teh overall design - Great job O&P !
we shared the tuna tacos and hamachi for the appetizers and for the entree we shared the brussel sprouts fried rice with the grilled branzino fillet. It was followed by the chocolate rye pie which was sweet. Service from Peter and Shannon were stellar. The Manhattan was made perfectly
We love Odys. The warm cheese puffs and tuna tacos are a must. The salmon and the branzino were both fantastic. I only wish they served their martinis in proper martini glasses. Our server, Peter, is always attentive, friendly and provide excellent service.
O&P never disappoints! The tri tip was delicious - cheese puffs baked fresh yum - broccolini - a win - and of course the chicken thighs wrapped in bacon - sooo good. That’s that
The fried rice/brussel sprouts dish-- one of my favorites, anywhere.
My criticism would be... Bring Back Brunch!
We are from Boston and just love to visit our daughter here in LA. She always picks the best places to check out and Odys and Penelope was no exception. Bar program was yummy too and always an added bonus. Service was laid back but friendly.
They were out of ribs at 7PM, disappointing. Burgers were a bit over cooked but desserts were wonderful. Beer was good but would have liked a draft option. Noise level was high so not easy to hear with 6 people.
Definitely will try again.......
The staff could not have been more welcoming or engaging. We did not have one bad bite out of 8 dishes we tried! Everything was delicious.
Amazing service. All servers are awesome. Food is great. Dessert is out of this world.
The service is perfect and the flavors are perfect!
Beautiful, contemporary and clean design. Great inventive menu. Wonderful presentation.
The service could be a little bit more friendly. Or maybe it was just our waiter. The interaction was extremely limited and cold . . .
Great food! Great ambiance! Not such great service. Waiter was too busy and took some time to get to our table and once he did the drinks we ordered were also slow to follow. The place is beautiful and the food is memorable.
Fantastic food and drinks. Would recommend to anyone.
We enjoyed our night. Service is friendly and helpful. It tended to be on the slow side so don't expect to be in a hurry here. Food seems innovative and fun. Restaurant is located on La Brea, so virtually no foot traffic on the Sunday evening we were there. All and all, it's a pretty, warm restaurant with interesting, tasty food where most would be happy.
Love the ambiance. It's cozy with dim lighting but also very popular and buzzing. There are many delicious and unique drinks. The food menu is diverse and everything is delicious. The service was fantastic, our server was extremely attentive, friendly and KNOWLEDGEABLE. We had the cheese rolls, onion rings, rotisserie pork and the bolognese. The bolognese was the highlight by far but everything was incredible. The best part is that the tip is included!!!!
Food was very good. We all enjoyed different entees and starters. We werenit blown away by the Chocolate Rye Pie that other reviewers raved about. The best thing that we ordered was the Cheese Buns. They were amazung. Overall it was a very good dinner.
Other than being a beautiful space, I can’t really think of anything positive to say about this restaurant.
Our waiter was not engaging, the food was very mid-range and a bit overpriced and the drinks were....timid.
No plans to go back.
Went for Happy Hour. Great selection of food and drinks at the bar during this time. Have eaten here a couple of times before, but this time, though the food was good, we found all of the food on the overly salty side.
This place is amazing!
We went there for a friend’s birthday. A bit pricey but worth every penny. The food was delicious. The waiter, Phillip, was very helpful and professional.
The ambiance was lovely.
Really made the birthday dinner very special.
Loved the atmosphere- perfect for bringing a really good friend from out of town. Loved the small plates- cauliflower w/millet was amazing. This is my new favorite restaurant.
Food very good but portions on small side. My husband was still hungry.
It was a great experience overall-service was a bit slow and we had to ask about our meals but other than that, it was warm, inviting, the staff was pleasant and the food was fantastic!
I've been here a few times now, and the food has always been delicious. This time, it was amazing. I think that might've been the best salmon I've ever had...I actually asked my dining companion if she thought it would be awkward to lick the plate. (She said "no" but I restrained myself.) It can get a little loud in there, but otherwise, this has become a regular go-to for me.
Food was good across the board. Service was helpful and friendly. The restaurant's wood tables and open kitchen is modern warm. Very pleasant surroundings. Conducive to conversation. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Food is always outstanding. It was nice in that it was not as crowded as usual so made for better conversation(less noise).
It is not an inexpensive meal so if you are after romance or ambience not just food this may not be your spot!
Great as always!! Consistent.
Great food, a bit overpriced for the portion size, especially sides. $9 for 6 onion rings, come on.
Deserts are the best !!!!!!!
