    After a series of sold out events, Chef Spencer Horovitz (formerly Slug, Al’s Place, Meadowood), will be joining us at Octavia with his acclaimed pop-up, Hadeem. For one-night-only Chef Spencer will collaborate with our own Chef Nico Pena and Wine Director Iris Rowlee. With Hadeem – which means “the echoes” in Hebrew – Chef Spencer draws a parallel between the diverse culinary traditions of the Jewish diaspora and fond memories of his multi-cultural Los Angeles upbringing with takes on traditional Jewish food such as char siu babka & pastrami and rye flatbread with amba mustard. A portion of proceeds from this event will be donated equally to World Central Kitchen, No Kid Hungry, and SF Marin Food Bank.

    A very charming, friendly restaurant with excellent food and wine. Farm to table style food that is hyper local and seasonal. We enjoyed it tremendously and plan on going back.

    One of the consistently best restaurants in the city. We did the Tasting Menu and each dish was perfect. Our server was excellent and made exquisite wine pairing suggestions. Counting the days until our next visit!

    Octavia deserves a standing ovation. The cuisine is creatively constructed to delight your pallet. The menu seems to change frequently so it’s great to re-visit to see what the chef has cooked up lately. Great for date night or to impress a client with a down to earth but excellent restaurant experience. One of my favorite places in all of San Francisco 5/5 stars.

    Outstanding cuisine. Very creative menu. The staff are extremely efficient and friendly. I would recommend for a great night out of culinary delights. Also interesting is that the restaurant is small and intimate. The place also feels like a neighborhood spot. Overall 5/5 stars!!!

    We were visiting from Cleveland Ohio and celebrating a birthday and anniversary. We all chose the Chefs Tasting Menu. Everything was outstanding, from the heirloom tomatoes, the tortellini , the pork loin and the desserts. We could not decide on a favorite as all were so delicious. Service was outstanding. Ambience welcoming. We left delightfully filled with great food and wonderful memories. We will definitely be back on another visit to San Francisco.

    We had a fantastic experience. Great food, refined service, lovely place with an immaculate open kitchen. Not for every budget, but most definitely an extremely valuable experience. We live in Mexico City, where food is also great, and we look foreword for our next visit to Octavia. Maybe the chef would like to open a Mexico City branch of Octavia.

    The prices are insane for the portions provided. My partner and I polished off a whole bag of Trader Joe's popcorn after we got home! We really liked 3 of the 4 starters: Lettuces w/ early girl tomatoes (not enough tomatoes), Veal Tartar, and the Stone Fruit salad. The Pole Beans were fine. For entrees, the Caramelle and the Quail stood out. But the Caramelle portion was so small, that the person who ordered it felt compelled to order a second one. The flounder was disappointing. It needed a sauce. The two desserts we had were also excellent. The service was pleasant and we were not rushed at all until the check was placed on the table. However, service was also not sufficiently attentive in terms of refilling water and asking if we wanted 2nd drinks. One thing I will say about Octavia that makes it distinctive is that since they generally don't seat parties between 6pm or so until 8pm or later, and the place is small, one can monitor whether lingering (as we did) might hold up seating of the next party. Once we saw that our table might be needed (after 2.5 hours), we left.

    We ordered a la cart. The cold dishes was very average. There was nothing special on the presentation or the flavor. Service was very slow since there was one waiter for the whole section of the outdoor parklett. The Tortellini was really good and the star was the veal chop.

    We miss the old menu with the egg and squid ink pasta. We had the tasting with 4 - were not big eaters and the portions were pretty small for family style serving… we think we would have enjoyed it sharing entrees off the regular menu. That said the service was outstanding! Wines by the glass interesting and good. The food was excellent! Especially the veggie centric dishes.

    My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and ordered the chef’s tasting menu. The staff were wonderful and the food was exceptional. I particularly enjoyed the lasagna and my wife loved the okra. Very memorable and fun!

Left feeling immensely sated and wanting to return. Overall lovely place that is worth visiting and putting on the regular list of restaurants to enjoy.

    The veal was amazing. The food was overall good, new ways new textures new combinations for me. It was frigid inside the restaurant though because the door was open all night. The servers didnt explain any thing about the dish or drinks, mostly just said the dishes name or quickly explained it which was hard to understand since it was loud / didn’t use layman terms. So we were like okay we don’t know what we’re eating but hey it’s good! The cocktails weren’t good, which was disappointing. The waiter was a pretty happy cheerful guy. It was fun to try!! I think I would recommend to try once for fun but not a must go to spot for me.

    We had a great dinner last night at Octavia. The 6 small plates shared between the two of us were fresh and delicious. Also, the bottle of wine recommended by the somm was perfect with our meal. We’ll be back!

    Our second experience dining at Octavia and we were once enjoyed an excellent meal. The service was attentive and helpful. The Corn Lasagna and the steak were both tasty. Unfortunately, for us, the wine we selected was sold out and we had to “upgrade $$” to another selection. Both the wine and the food are $$$$ so be prepared to pay. Worth the price.

    I thought it was a very good restaurant this source fabulous ingredients, and does it get in the way of the flavor. I thought the portions were small, the chicken dish for you ordered was mediocre, several things we’ve got were excellent. I think it was over priced. Overall, I would say the food is very good, not amazing and the room was too noisy. I’m sorry for the mixed reviews.

    This was a perfect restaurant. Not fussy, but inventive food, with each ingredient contributing to the full flavors and textures of each dish. Ambiance was simple, warm, elegant and comfortable. Staff was informative and welcoming.

    Overall we were happy with the food. Unfortunately the wait staff and service team were a bit off putting, they rushed us to order, were a bit rude, it almost felt like our presence there was a burden for them. Will not return.

    We ended up ordering the chef's tasting menu, which was both wonderful and a good amount of food. We also had allergies and vegetarian guests at the table and the restaurant was more than willing to accommodate these, going so far as to make a separate off-menu main and desserts.

    Service was perfect! The waiter knew how to read us and know we’d hoped to take our time. The food was simply amazing from beginning to end. Stracciatella was divine, as was the squash caramella, trout and corn lasagna. Nice quiet neighborhood, outdoor parklet was clean, new, well lighted, well heated. We shall certainly hope to return soon

    Octavia lived up to the hype and then exceeded expectations. Every single dish was balanced, fresh, beautiful, and delicious. The wine was great and suggested pairings were perfect. Our server was polite, knowledgeable, and really helpful when we were trying to plan what to order. One of the best overall meals I've had in a long time.

    The food was very good. Clearly high quality, carefully picked starting ingredients (tomatoes, stracciatella cheese, bread, vinegar, duck, fruit, etc.). The service was a bit slow. We were quite hungry as we kept waiting for the mains to arrive. The outdoors sitting area had poor acoustics and it was unpleasantly loud. Portions were small, for the price, and at the end of the meal we had to order one more entree because we were still hungry. Highly recommended. Slightly bigger portions and faster service would make it perfect.
