We were seated right away thanks to our reservation and had paid extra for a river view. It was worth it for a special occasion. While it took some time for our server to arrive she was friendly and helpful. She was not attentive enough to drink refills or timely to bring the check and collect it. But the food was incredible. Our starter of hushpuppies came quickly and was delicious. Both entrees were gorgeous and also arrived quicker than expected. I ordered the “simply prepared” swordfish and I feared it may be bland, but it was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. We went on Friday evening and it was a little noisy but we still had no trouble hearing each other. We will go back to treat ourselves to a great meal with a wonderful view.

Our family had a fabulous New Years dinner. Our waitress Carolyn was wonderful in every way. She was very personable and knowledgeable on the history of the Tavern. We loved the ambiance of the room and the gentleman who played the guitar was so talented as was the gentleman who explained our room as a bedroom long ago. Two of us had the seafood 2 had the Prime Rib and our grandson loved his hotdog. We will make this a tradition every year going forward.

Wonderful experience overall. Each of us selected a different meal. Each came out with excellent presentation, all looked wonderful. My Braised beef was the best I’ve ever had. Portions for all were excellent. Taste was even better than the appearance. Above all, service was excellent and our server was engaging and demonstrated the impression of being closely connected to the chef which added to an individualized experience. The physical spit in Roanoke was also special being able to watch the evening come to life through the wall to wall windows. My future visits will not waste time eating up at the Hotel Roanoke…I’ll be back the Billy’s as soon as possible.

My guest and I opted to complete our evening attending the Va Tech women’s basketball team, Round 1 game in the NCAA tournament. As always, The Farmhouse was a relaxing, enjoyable, and delicious ending for the evening. Our server “Kendall” could have not been more engaged, accommodating, attentive, and charming, all without being disruptive to our time together. Our appetizers (shrimp cocktail and Ahi tuna), entrees (crab cakes and special request Cajun shrimp fettuccini Alfredo) and dessert (crème brûlée) were all remarkable!! The Farmhouse has become our go-to for a quiet date night and remarkable food and hospitality.

My son and I went there for dinner the weekend of the Shamrock race weekend. It exceeded all expectations! As Lebanese Americans.
