Our favorite restaurant in Dallas, however service was lacking this time around. We had a 9:00 reservation and were seated at 9:45 without apology or explanation. We are accustomed to waiting 30 minutes or so after our reservation time, and have always been comped with a surprise appetizer and acknowledgement. This time we were simply rushed through the meal, as the dining room was already emptying. The food was great, but I would definitely recommend an earlier reservation.
Amazing food! Amazing service! I would go back and recommend this restaurant to my friends!
Great food and service!
Awesome as always!!!
Pricey, but excellent. I will return. Service was perfect and ambience was very Pleasant
Had close to 30 minute wait for 7:30 reservations but food was delicious!
Service was excellent, but food left a lot to be desired and seemed far overpriced for the value/quality. My 6oz roasted cod was thin, oily and lifeless and was the only thing on the plate other than a (good) gribiche and handful of greens. It was a $26 piece of fish! The sides were okay - cauliflower and Brussels - but the sprouts were also very oily. We also ordered the mussels as an appetizer and although the broth was tasty, the mussels themselves were not great. Perhaps our fault for ordering them in an off season, but then again perhaps they shouldn’t be on the menu unless in peak season. Our first couple of times dining here we really enjoyed our meal. This last time was completely unremarkable, though, and bordered on bad and we won’t be clamoring to go back.
Table was great. Food was very good. I loved my salmon.
We will certainly be back, as we keep coming back.
Took friends from PNW! It’s legit!
I had a reservation for two, and the host and hostess tried to seat me at a small, 2-top table wedged between a wall and another table. I asked if there was anything else available. There were three different 4-top tables empty (it was 6:15 pm), but the host said they were reserved. My guest and I sat at the bar instead. Subsequently, the host and hostess sat a party of two at one of the 4-tops, and another 4-top remained vacant for the entire time I was there. The bartenders were great, but the treatment from the host and hostess will probably keep me from returning.
Lunch at MLC was a very pleasant experience and it was fun to introduce some old friends to this restaurant in celebration of a birthday.
First time and love the service and food. But it is overpriced. The least expensive Red wine was $11 and not very good. I got one of the least expensive entrees, fish tacos and they were $19. I probably won’t return.
The restaurant always has the best atmosphere. The service was excellent and the food was even better.
Impeccable service + great food = wonderful evening out
Great food and perfect service - can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in Dallas!
Great new find for us!
We have now been to Montlake Cut 3 or 4 times and will continue to come back - just be aware even if you have reservations its seems they never have a table ready for you at the time of your reservation. This is the 3rd time we had to wait over 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. It there was enough room at the bar this might not have been that big of deal - but with the small space and just makes you feel in the way for waiters just trying to do their job.
We like it very much! We like to go early before it gets loud as all restaurants seem to be now. Nice to have it somewhat quiet while we were there.
We went to celebrate our anniversary. Wonderful food and atmosphere. The seafood was incredibly fresh.
Music was too loud.
Excellent food and service!
Great food and ambiance. I would certainly visit again. Even my picky husband loved it. Loved the crab fried rice and mac and cheese.
Good food and good service, but too expensive for a business lunch. They need to create a business lunch menu with combined items (choice of appetizer, entrée and drink) for a set price. Two people for lunch with no alcohol and it was $100...that's too much.
Always a great experience. Wish there was a salmon entree on the menu.
Food was outstanding. Oysters super fresh. Atmosphere fun. Only complaint is the pricing. Steakhouse model where everything is al a cart. Value is tough to justify often.
One of my top favorite restaurants in Dallas. Food, service and ambience are wonderful. Always LOVE having dinner here!
The oysters were briny and superb. And the accompanying dipping sauces were wonderful but unnecessary since the oysters were so flavorful. That was the high point of the meal. The green salad was good and chowder was hearty on a cold nite. The fish was good but overly breaded for the sole milanese and overly sauced for the roasted branzino which unfortunately covered up a lot of the flavor of the fish. The ambient music was too loud and made it difficult to hear our waiter describe the evening's fish offerings at the table. The goldfish chedder cheese crackers on the table were out of a bag and crass. Some good bread and butter would have been better. The rum cake dessert was good. Overall, I would say the food was good but not spectacular and the dining experience was merely average and not a great value at the price.
Love the cozy atmosphere and food always good. Not a lover of the goldfish....much prefer bread or even oyster crackers.
It was very mediocre.
Nothing special, nothing spectacular.
Prices expensive for what you got.
Best seafood in Dallas
Always a great experience. Food and service always outstanding.
The only negative was I told them it was my husbands 30th birthday (in the notes for the reservation) and no one ever acknowledged the birthday whatsoever. Otherwise the experience was enjoyable.
Superb seafood and on spot execution. Waitstaff is knowledgable, friendly, and not over bearing. Julia keeps things humming. Killer 2005 Tempranillo currently on the wine list. Had a Branzino which was as good a piece of fish as I have had in Dallas, or anywhere else for that matter.
Service and food always excellent
Always have a great time and great food at Montlake!
Montlake Cut always excels. The fish especially but all of the other dishes are prepared deliciously. My spouse and I have eaten there a few dozen times over the last few years and I can honestly say we have never had even a sub-par meal there. The smoked salmon is always a must. Expensive but always getting a highest quality dining experience make it all worth it.
It’s the best casual expensive seafood in town
Incredible seafood, staff, kitchen & wait staff! It doesn't get any better anywhere! Go there and stay as long as you can!!! Ran and Jan
Great selection of flavors and excellent service. The fish and scallops were cooked to perfection - fresh and light on the inside, lightly crispy on the outside. Best seafood I’ve had yet in Dallas. I will be back soon!
The food was delightful and loved the decor. Really fresh seafood. We will be back.
