The food was excellent. The service was beyond reproach. Some of us had fish and some had Moussaka. I just think they could be a little more generous with the serving sizes
Excellent food and service. I would cone back again. Excellent choice
Food was good but nice quite as tasty as last year. Had mezze appetizer and hummus and tzatziki were great. Eggplant had a little too much tomato. Lamb scoops were excellent as was lavrarki ( white fish) Desserts a little bland.
Service was very good. Nice pre or post theatre meal
I’m not an expert on Greek food but it was very good to my taste. I had the Moussaka. We made reservations for a Saturday afternoon but I think we were only guests in the restaurant so the food was prepared in good time. Service was very good.
We had a 12 noon reservation and the woman wouldn’t open the door until 11:59 - when we did walk in the lights were off and it seemed very unwelcoming!
Lovely lunch. Delicious!
The service was courteous and attentive. The food was consistently excellent.
Never disappoints, if you want top shelf greek fare this is a must place visit. Every course is a special offering. Broad wine and liquor list. Service is top rate with wait staff at your service when you need them. Food was really top rate, you might want to suggest medium rare on the fish. For business, date night or anniversary, Molyvos will be there for you.
My lady and I have been here many times for special occasions or concerts in the area. We hadn't been here fora while. We shared an appetizer of grilled octopus with chickpeas, artichokes, in a vinaigrette, excellent. For mains we both had fish. She had Lavraki(Bronzino). I had Tsipoura which is Dorado. We had them whole and deboned them ourselves. They were cooked in olive oil, lemon juice and mustard, delicious and moist. We had two sides lemon potatoes and swiss chard, very good. She had Greek coffee and I had mint tea. The service was very good. I didn't give the value a better rating because nothing comes with the fish, the sides are extra.
Restaurant week. Three courses. Reasonable choices. Waiter was bored. Food was under seasoned. Didn’t feel Greek. Regular menu prices were outrageous. $45 lamb chops. $24 grilled octopus appy
The restaurant week lunch is a real bargain. The zucchini fritters are an excellent appetizer. Both the eggplant pasta and the chicken souvlaki are great choices. The house rose wine pairs very well with whatever you close for lunch.
Lovely ambience; delicious food; pleasant service. A great find.
Elegant dining - spectacular food - attentive knowledgeable staff! A wonderful experience - would return!
The stuffed cabbage main course is out of this world. I love stuffed cabbage but I've never had it with dill before. The various spreads, served with warm pita bread, are also very tasty. I would come here again.
Excellent and reasonable for NYC. Loved the grilled octopus (generous portion) and the haloumi cheese appetizers.
Warm, friendly service but efficient and timely Ambience was comfortable, pleasing. Food we chose was good but not amazing or surprising. Price was very reasonable and there were lots of choices. Wine and after dinner cordial selection was great and tasty. Good experience not quite memorable
Food was better than it used to be, I thought this time. Chicken soup is a classic. Crab cakes superb.
Wine by the glass is too pricey, although lovely.
Great Food. Great atmosphere. Great service. I highly recommend it.
I've eaten at Molyvos since it opened, and I really like it. I was disappointed in this experience because the server didn't read the guests well - it was like he decided the table wasn't important, and he gave us very little attention, made no suggestions, and seemed to "write us off." The reservation clearly stated there was a birthday (in fact, of 5 of us, 2 were celebrating birthdays), and no mention was made of that, no attempt to create a memorable meal. I was also disappointed that an individual can't really get a good selection of fish dishes, given that they've switched to selling whole fish. So, they have two fish dishes: a tuna and a red snapper. It's like they pared the menu down to virtually nothing. Some of our party ordered appetizers as main dishes, not because of the price, but because of the lack of selection among the main dishes. For the first time, this was a lackluster meal. Yes, everything tasted good, but the word for the experience is "meh."
Molyvos is consistent with their food and service for so many years. Will gladly come back. Great for groups.
The octopus salad is fantastic. It is very easy to see that every dish served is made with the freshest food.
Good food with attentive staff. And enjoyable meal.
Food was outstanding. The service was not refined. We asked for wine recommendations, the server asked what is the price point I pointed to numbers on the list, which is how we have done it at every other restaurant with this level of sophistication, and she says the numbers out loud to our guest! Very tacky. Fortunately, the wine was fine.
We selected Molyvos because it’s a Mediterranean restaurant. Food and service was excellent. We ordered several small plates and appetizers. Large selection of cheeses. Will definitely visit again.
My granddaughter and I enjoyed Malyvos. We both like Greek food. I’m only sorry they did not have tarasalama on the menu but everything we ordered was excellent.
Absolutely perfect! We really enjoyed the food, especially the grilled fish, livraky: soft, sweet, very tasty.
We definitely recommend Molyvos, to spend a great night, in a very nice ambience and excellent food.
Food was delicious! Everyone very helpful when the power went out in Midtown!!!!
We had the prix fixe meal -- all three courses were superb. The service was polite and punctual.
Small plates were good. disappointed in the octopus salad. Octopus was chopped so finely, you didn't know you were eating octopus.
Great fish - pick it out then have it simply grilled and you are transported to Greece. There are lots of interesting and delicious choices. If you like octopus, have the grilled appetizer. The service is excellent and the restaurant is bright and cheerful.
We make a point of dining at Molyvos whenever we are in New York. The high standard never varies.
It's expensive, but it's worth it.
Very good Greek food.
Fish was well prepared and cold cucumber soup was delicious and perfect for a summer night
Grilled octopus couldn’t be any better, it’s perfect. Good attentive service and good Greek wine selection by the glass.
The four of us tried ten different offerings including three cheeses, meat pie, meatballs, whole Greek fish, two salads and two desserts and all were outstanding examples of the best in Greek cusine. Server hailed from Cyprus and was very helpful in navigating the extensive menu. We had a wonderful experience and it convinced out two friends to agree that it was one of our favorites in NYC. The ten minute walk from the center of Broadway shows is well worth it!
Excellent greek food with wonderful service. The fixe price dinner and lunch are bargains with portions full size. Love the lamb appetizer the salmon enttee and every dessert. One of favorite NYC spots
Very nice restaurant. Service was awful, food was not served at the same time. They cleared across the plates. The waiters seemed bothered by having to wait on the table. The restaurant was not that busy and service should have been significantly better. Approached manager on way out and he blew off our feedback. For $400 tab for 5 people expected far better experience.
nice ambiance, quiet, good for conversation. wait staff very pleasant, don't rush, and provided good advice regarding the menu. Food was very good. we had several sauces with pita as appetizer which were quite flavorful and satisfying. the lamb shank and crabcake were excellent. a dessert of rice pudding with cherry sauce was out of this world.
Well prepared fresh fish and interesting Greek appetizers and side dishes. Good place to go before Carnegie Hall or City Center. But not “go to place” for great Greek food in NYC.
